I was like 9 when that movie came out and even then I was like why the fuck is everyone chasing after this chick? She's a dinner plate eyed 36 year old that looks like a 42 year old. These dudes would be banging 19 year old strippers with daddy issues.

@hankdenner She looked good in that 70's vampire movie with David Bowie, but was not a sexy leading lady by the time Bull came around. My suspension of disbelief was gone. Too old for young ballplayers to be going gaga over.... The character was supposed to be mature, but they could have found a hotter older lady. There were plenty around in the 80's.

I always thought the idea of Waterworld and The Postman were that they all existed within the Kevin Costner Cinematic universe. Eventually he would've made Stargate so he can make buddy movies with himself.

I love how Dave is still here with Anthony on the LWC set. In other news, Costner has been in some good movies but his best role was the only one where he really leaned into the way he plays himself as a particular character. Thats the only role he can play really, and it sorta just works for him. I liked him in Tin Cup, Hidden Figures, Highwaymen, and Criminal. But i dare you to show me a single performance where Costner plays ANYONE but himself to varying degrees of exaggeration.

The few times I tuned into it, it just seemed really generic, slow and more like a vanity project for Costner, but I could be wrong. And “Once Upon A Time In America” with DeNiro is a highly-regarded gangster film, but it was sooo damn slow and boring with a runtime of over 3.5 hours, though I don’t mind watching long movies. I’ve seen The Godfather trilogy nearly a dozen times. And fwiw, I *really* wanted to like both of these movies.
The Coen Bros’ “True Grit” remake is a western with dialogue that never gets old and grabs your attention throughout the entire movie every time you watch it. And their movie “No Country For Old Men” is probably one of the best movies of our generation and basically just a modern western. The dialogue in their films are top notch.

It was a running gag with my friends how his sperm was highly valued in each movie. This was before the internet was so popular but I remember a rumor of a cut of the movie with full frontal Costnor nudity. Rumor said the crowd reaction was so bad they took it out the movie. Just sharing my memory of how me amd my stoner friends viewed his movies. Always a guilty pleasure.

Kevin Costner isn't really an actor, he was originally a fashion model.

  • @shrapnel77

Like him or not, Costner has staying power as he still does a successful TV series in Yellowstone. His hey days were mid 80's to mid 90's. Like most actors, his best roles were few and far between since then. He's accomplished way more than the average actor has.
