    Their mom, Barbara, embroidered those outfits. It was a true family band.

    Mom, Barbara, talked several times about how she made those little vests herself, and took an old pair of gold evening shoes to cut out the "BG" initials and sew them on. Everytime they went on the road, she had to iron 42 shirts because Barry didn't like how they were done at the laundry 🥵 (THAT'S why the ironing board is so significant in "This is Where I Came In" 😊)
    A GREAT Bee Gee's Weekend! Thanks, Chad!

      Good grief. We were thinking the very same thing at the very same time. I always wondered why she didn't just tell Barry no. She was the mom. Ho Ho Ho, but he was Barry and he and his brothers were working very hard, so I guess I would want comfortable shirts too.

      I had forgotten that about Mom Barbara having to iron all those shirts, glad you posted that, and she didn’t say No because the Boys were supporting. them & had been since they started getting real gigs. So I guess that was her job. 😂😂But Mom’s do things like that just because they. are Mom & their Child asks them to because they love their children that much. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

    I just love these early ones. Go back 4 more years to 1960 and “Time is Passing By” - they’re so little and it’s live, not lip-synced. Really shows how their talent was innate. Thanks Chad!!!!

    Love it. They were so young and yet so amazingly talented. It's amazing that the parents did not promote or push them. This is just what the boys wanted to do since they were ages 6 and 9.

    I never get tired of watching the early day videos. You’re so right, Chad, they were performers from birth! And Barry, composing songs so young!!

    Yes, born as musicians and singers! Would have made it anyway, whoever was around as singer or band. They felt, breathed and lived music. Unique about them beside their individual singing and three-part-harmonies and amazing songwriting is the fact, that you can find them in every genre of music.

    Barbara made all their costumes, stitching the B G's on their vests. The van in This is Where I came in represents the one that their Dad drove them around to shows. Entertainers in those days paid their dues!

    Chad, always love seeing our precious guys perform when they were still quite young. It only shows how talented they already were at that very young age and how they were destined to become superstars only four short years later when they arrived back in England in early 1967. I'm still lobbying for "Wine and Women" from 1965 and I hope that you'll react to it in the future. The twins really sprouted up in two years. I know you'll really enjoy it and definitely won't be disappointed. Also, just for your enjoyment, they actually sang a very short version of "Three Kisses of Love" during the 1981 Michael Parkinson interview. Someone has it posted on TH-cam (Stephen Parker) by itself so you won't have to listen to the entire interview, which is amazing by the way. I suggest watching the entire interview one day, too, but please watch them sing it as adults. Absolutely wonderful!

      @susieq9801 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Laurie, I'm still waiting for Wine and Women too! Another great one is Little Gold Ring with Robin "playing" the trumpet He still hasn't done their first TV appearance either. That is an absolute GEM! Love the old stuff.

    • @lauriebarnes2999
      @lauriebarnes2999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, Susie Q, we must get him to react to all the songs you mentioned. We have to make sure he's got all of them on his list. They were too cute for words back then!

  • @janicetrimmell6897

    And those little boys could "saaang!!" Barbara made the vests (she called them waistcoats). She said she cut up some gold leather evening shoes to cut out the BG initials. She also ironed a whole lot of white shirts. My little brother had Mo's hair-do until about age 4. That was before he rebelled against the brylcreem. The only thing even cuter than this in 1963 is their first TV appearance in Australia in 1960. I know people have sent the link before, but here it is again. It's worth it to see their sweet little faces and hear the even sweeter harmony. th-cam.com/video/d29VbNPmPAw/w-d-xo.html

      They are absolutely adorable in that video clip! With the twins standing on boxes and snapping their little baby fingers to the beat!😜 They all 3 just stole my heart here! Sweet, talented Baby Bee Gees!!😍

  • @susieq9801
    @susieq9801 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I loved seeing the reactions of the brothers when old videos were played during later interviews. Barry would cover his eyes and giggle. Robin would just smile. Maurice would laugh out loud.
    You really do need to see their original appearance on TV in 1960. The twins had to stand on boxes to get in the same shot as Barry. @6:00, Robin's mouth was open so wide he could have swallowed the camera, really into the song! It was sometimes hard to get them on TV in Oz. A friend (Jacobsen) who helped get them jobs, said TV in Oz was pretty conservative back then and they were cocky upstarts and Robin was such an extrovert back then that he frightened people. They were also criticized later on as copying The Beatles but they said we were composing and singing three part harmony before anyone heard of the Beatles. Notice the Barry head bob was there even then.

    You are so cute with your reaction to this and the times. I grew up in those times and yes, they were innocent times compared to today. The heavens wanted these boys to express their talent and they graced us for many decades. Thanks for going back in time. In 1963 I was a junior in high school leading a fairly normal life and there was Barry (also my age) and his Brother’s beginning a journey of a lifetime.

    I remember in an interview Mo saying that the dad would stand at the back waving his arms around giving instructions for the boys to smile and move their bodies. Chad - There is a You Tube of "Brian Henderson's Bandstand" (The host in this video) with quite a few of their appearances over the years on that show. It is only of the Bee Gees so nothing else to wade through. You have seen the first 2 songs but there are a half dozen others that you haven't. One (Hillybilly) is pretty cheesy but funny. 😁
