    LYRICS (English Translation):
    [Verse 1]
    I know what you want
    You want my alluring lips, don’t you?
    Drawing in all these desperate men
    With sweet nectar that takes your breath away
    You know what you want, don’t you?
    My figure that has you mesmerized
    Walking alone on the streets, the lusty gazes entangle with me
    Hey, what are you expecting from me?
    [Chorus]
    Not later, I want it right now
    I long for mature love
    Younger than it looks, my heart runs ahead
    I’ve yet to bloom, but I still pretend to
    [Verse 2]
    I know what you want
    You want my entire being that provokes you
    Captivating you with my cold gaze
    Someday, I'll becomе a flower, an amaryllis
    [Chorus]
    I don't just want gentle words;
    I want to connеct to you with my heart
    My desires cannot be hidden by ordinary makeup
    I only dream of my longings
    I try to act mature in front of you, again
    [Instrumental Break]
    [Chorus]
    Not later, I want it right now
    I long for mature love
    Younger than it looks, my heart runs ahead
    Come find me
    I don't just want gentle words;
    I want to connect to you with my heart
    My desires cannot be hidden by ordinary makeup
    I only dream of my longings
    [Outro]
    Chasing after an unknown path of love
    Chasing after it, chasing after it
    I'm feeling otona blue again

    You're correct to pick up on the 70s and 80s disco vibe because Otana Blue (Adult Blue) is heavily influenced by the Showa era hit Futura Nikki by Akiko Wada - AG have even performed a mash up of the two songs with Wada. There's also a pun in the title as Otona Blue means Adult Blue and Otona Buru (which Suzuka sings) means to "act like an adult" and the song is about teenage emotional confusion. The lyrics explore "teenage awakening" ie the awareness of desire in others and their own desire to grow up and experience adult emotions - or at least their fantasy of them. AG wrote the lyrics themselves when they were younger and I think it's an honest expression of their feelings as they approached adulthood, which makes some people uncomfortable. But AG never shy away from difficult subjects.
    Atarashii Gakko No Leaders (New School Leaders) was formed in 2015 by Asobisytem. Mizyu (the one with two ponytails) was already on their books as she was a back up dancer to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and they brought in Rin, Kanon and Suzuka to join her. They do all their own choreography and also create dances for other groups. They have some of the most original choreo I've seen and are almost an anti-idol group as their motto is "With individuality and freedom I'm going to stick out" and they sing about challenging themes and have appeared at Pride events and do some pretty avant gard art projects. In 2020/21 they joined 88rising to break into the US market and have had success on social media and just completed a small N. American tour. They recently broke out on TikTok in Japan with Otona Blue which is quite an old song and this First Take version has over 50M views. They will be doing a short World tour in 2024, basically smaller, but well known venues, in N. America, European capitals and the Far East.
    Another teenage angst song is "Nai Nai Nai", check that out or their recent live concert performance in "Atarashii Gakko! Live @New York City, Brooklyn".

    They will be performing at Coachella in April. Coachella live streams on YT. I'll be watching. They are kinda anti-Jpop, especially in their lyrics. They have input to the lyrics and of course they do their own Choreography. They have been performing since they were kids and modeling since they were babies.

    AG has a huge following in metal fans, me included. They just have it, charisma, fun, dancing, genre fluid and important lyrical content. You have many good suggestions in the comments already but I would love to see you react to their earliest video, Dokubana which is an amazing and powerful song. My personal favorite is Koi Geba a banger song about a real societal issue in teacher, student affairs.

      I made a comment on another channel about how metal heads are drawn to AG, they’re not metal but somehow they are, I can’t explain it.

    • @tackle47

      @@not-so-great-oldone9780 I am not sure but there is a hint of individualism, independence and being different. Many metal fans are drawn towards standing up against repression of thought and to some extent being an outsider. What little jpop and K-pop I have heard has been so damn vanilla it just instantly turns me off. AG though are so anti that mindset of being vanilla it just feels real to me.

      @not-so-great-oldone9780 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tackle47 that must be it, they are not afraid to stand out and be different. Another non “vanilla” group is The Devil’s Killing Merry Go Round, they don’t have a lot out but it’s different.

    Good points the ones you mentioned. You mentioned visual, I recommend you check Suki Lie (oficial video) for killer visuals. Also, Mayoeba tautoshi is a favorite of mine, talking about versatility, jumping from one music genera to other (even within the same song), their coreography, and their vocals . A pretty awesomer package. I agree with you, they put out music that makes you smile.

    This song was an absolute breakout for them in 2023 in Japan, propelling them from a niche act to a nationwide sensation. Just from watching you guys struggle (nobly, I might add) with the meaning of the lyrics, it’s clear why this tune is not as popular with us overseas fans. Without context, it’s hard for us to really latch on to a precise meaning. Funny thing is, I think most Japanese don’t take it that seriously. It’s a fun, catchy, nostalgic tune, with a funny little neck-dance that went viral. For those people who see a deeper, even darker message, it’s tempered by an undeniable satirical edge that is sly, smart, and funny as hell. The gap between what they are singing about and how they are singing it creates weird semantic reverberations. Now, go watch the version of this song that they did for The First Take TH-cam channel. That one is pure unadulterated delightful fun. The girls have range.
