The Legend of Dany Bill: The Technical Striking Savant

Dany Bill is widely regarded as one of the smartest, and most accomplished foreign fighters in the history of Muay Thai, beating many of the top Thai fighters during the most competitive era of the sport.
While Dany was a natural athlete right from the start, he was not content with his power and athleticism that helped him to dominate his weight class in Europe. He was fascinated with the sheer technical genius of the Thai fighters that were not seen in Europe. To test himself against the best, Dany would spend years training and fighting in the motherland of Muay Thai.
In the 90s in Thailand, Muay Thai camps were closely guarded places that were highly wary of outsiders. Many doors were closed to foreigners, and Dany found that it was extremely hard to find trainers who were willing to teach him. To learn the secrets of their techniques, Dany threw himself into the deep at some of the most legendary camps at that time - Jocky Gym and Sityodtong Gym, watching their training, and getting his ass kicked in sparrings with the Thai champs.
Dany is full of incredible stories from the golden era of the sport. He even offered tips on what his fight strategy would be, if he was to fight the G.O.A.T. Saenchai.

Very insightful interview. Respect for Monsieur Dany. He went to Thailand during a difficult period and had to earn his knowledge and skills. There wasn't any social media marketing, no real money as this was before the mixed martial arts promotional model.

Beautiful. Great fighter and a great person. Awesome insights into the 90's. I'm half Thai and spent holidays in the 80's and 90's with my family in Thailand. Back then I started to read a lot about Muay Thai in magazines (never practiced) and Ramon Dekkers was the big name among European fighters. My family is Thai and everybody knew him. Alongside Ramon were many other great fighters including Danny Bill. First time I see a more in-depth story about him and I loved it. I feel the 90's were more about substance and less money making spectacles. Now we're in an age where money rules and TH-camrs are allowed to enter the arena to claim they're fighters. These kind of videos keep the memories alive when the shit was real. I wish him best of luck with his project in Cameroon. Hopefully he'll get a lot of support from other athletes and Muay Thai fans.
