    Oh, these turned put so beautiful! I loved the quick shot of the soldered edge to frame these with silver solder,....the dual metal look is so nice.
    I am so excited to try this technique! I'll just have to get the copper patina. I was holding off on getting it til I knew more,....and now I do,...thank you!😊
    I will alao have to get a pack of those professional polishing pads,...wow, they work like magic!
    I know the frustration of working with a soldering iron without the temperature control/ rheostat. I just today recieved my upgraded soldering iron with rheostat and station, and my Silvergleem solder. I want to jump right in and play, but I'm waiting on the new liquid flux and the black patina for solder to arrive. Lol.... I'm more excited than a kid on Christmas morning!
    Thank you for all of the great content you share on your channel. I'm already learning so much!😊✨💖✨

    Nice! I have used and loaned embossing folders in various classes just hammering the design into the copper. No rolling. I’ve found it easier to control.

    • @karensintuitivejewelry
      @karensintuitivejewelry  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thx. I’ve tried just hammering the metal too but I ended up distorting the metal pretty badly & not getting near the impression I finally got with even this little machine! One of these days I’ll get a bigger machine or better yet a hydraulic press! 😂 🙏☺️💖

    Try rolling out metal cookie sheets from the Dollar Tree. Should be a little thicker than using several pieces of tin foil. I make flowers out of them and they texture easily. I’m going to try it!!!

    • @karensintuitivejewelry
      @karensintuitivejewelry  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So are you talking using the Dollar Tree cookie sheets for practicing designs or actually using for the creations? If they’re aluminum it won’t work with the soft solder

  • @itsybitsyimaginarium8720

    They look amazing I have a few embossing sheets will have a go with the hammer that's a great idea thank you 😊

    • @karensintuitivejewelry
      @karensintuitivejewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx so much 😊 Using just the hammer alone will not be very effective at all because of course I tried that 🤣 before finally breaking down & buying the mini embossing machine unless you’re just using paper or maybe 30 gauge sheet metal! Just hammering allows too much “spring back”

    Think I will owe you another coffee! I have another question! I thought you could not add any solder after you had used patina? Did I get that wrong?

    • @karensintuitivejewelry
      @karensintuitivejewelry  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      🤣🤣🤣 & hopefully I have answers! Not sure if you’re asking your questions regarding this particular video? I didn’t see that I applied solder AFTER applying patina? But if you clean off excess patina I’m pretty sure you can just apply flux & reheat or add more solder! Give it a try!

  • @jspaz9341
    @jspaz9341 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What are your thoughts on putting the copper solder foil on the back and running it through the embossing machine with it on so you could do a thin tinning layer on the back?

    • @karensintuitivejewelry
      @karensintuitivejewelry  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have doubts that this would work for 2 reasons! 1) the tape can be a little fragile & could tear 2) I believe you’ll actually lose your embossed texture once you apply the solder but by all means give it a try on a small item & let me know the results! Thx for all your questions & feel free to IM me! 🙏😊💖

      @@karensintuitivejewelry So I was working with alluminum and the solder did not stick so I tried it and it was Meh. It too a lot to bring the design out with the patina after and it does not pop like I want it to. I may save it though and adhead it to one of my wood burned boxes though on the lid. It would be more easy to see what it is than on a moving person as a pendent,

    Hi Can I ask Do you put any sealer on your pieces I have been told solder will turn green over time if nothing to seal it???? I’m so new to jewellery making but loving soldering my pieces need lots more practice yet lol So many untrues out there never sure but you go through everything

    • @karensintuitivejewelry
      @karensintuitivejewelry  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I seal my bare copper jewelry pieces as well as my soft soldered pieces. However any sealant no matter the product does eventually wear off so the sealant must be reapplied if desired. It’s a natural aging process for solder, copper & other metals including sterling silver, brass, bronze, etc to oxidize (patina) that occurs over time & without proper care. It’s not difficult to keep your jewelry bright & shiny with proper storage. I have not had any soft soldered or copper pieces turn green on its surface as this patina takes many years & is affected by different elements including weather, chemical exposure, etc
      Soft solder & Copper turning a persons skin green is also common & is mostly due to that persons pH & body chemistry. I personally can wear soft soldered & copper jewelry for several days at a time before I “may” (but not always) start to notice the green. The discoloration washes off easily & is not harmful in any way! I’ve worn rings for days forgetting to remove when washing dishes, gardening, etc without any incidents but others may notice color changes within hours! It really just depends on so many factors with regard to a persons body chemistry & their personal lifestyle habits to know for sure how they will react to the jewelry! Keep in mind that even Sterling Silver can react poorly with certain people! I hope this was helpful! Thx for your interest & support! 🙏😊💖

    Have any of your stones cracked from the heat?

    • @karensintuitivejewelry
      @karensintuitivejewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had a small (18x12 mm) Moonstone crack but it didn’t break but it’s rare! If you’re mindful with your solder application (not staying in the same spot for an excessive period of time) most stones & even resin pieces will do fine!

    • @karensintuitivejewelry
      @karensintuitivejewelry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh & in particular with this method of sweat soldering I have not had any crack or break because the soft solder used in the Tiffany Method melts at a much lower temperature than soft solder used in “hard soldering” it literally only takes a couple seconds to melt & attach! Does that make sense?

    • @pattimessenger6214
      @pattimessenger6214 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karensintuitivejewelry It does! I’ve been making wire wrapped jewelry for several years now. I’m not confident about my ability to capture small stones. So I mostly stick with pendant beads. I have some beautiful cabochons that I’ve not done anything with, because it would break my heart if they fell out of one of my wire settings. But soft solder looks to offer many opportunities. I actually already bought the solder, iron and copper tape. I think I’ll have fun doing this!
