    If you ever swap this engine out with a crate jzzfe, yes it is doable. Remember the plug on the top right of the engine, under the intake is a British National thread. Remove and keep all the sensors from the 1zz and bolt them onto the jzz. I used copper RTV to seal the threads. And don't forget to reinstall the knock sensor. Thanks for the video.

      I'm going to try using a bicycle inner tube on throttle body.

      The idle air control valve would be next on my check list. Watch out for crawl mode on this car in it's various forms too. As an example, I did some interstate driving and the car started acting up. It was hesitating/bogging down on acceleration. I had just replaced the iac which was stuck open for almost the exact same thing. So I was like great, bad sensor. But everyone else pointed to a dirty mad sensor which has 5 leads and I also had just replaced that too. So luckily I left the key in the ignition and drained the battery over night. . . As a side note, when unplugging the MAF sensor, the acceleration was normal but cut out at 3k rpm. Bleep bleep bleep, dead battery right? It reset the computer and solved the crawl mode / acceleration bog problem. All sensors plugged in, car accelerates just fine now. Toyota what were you thinking? So be careful when diagnosing this. And make sure to get all air bubbles out of the coolant line before starting it. Some how. I wonder what a carbureted Corvette s engine looks like. Like late 80s?

    FYI the 2nd bolt on the far right w/ bracket does not have to be taken off + the throttle body can stay on. You also can leave the tube to the top of the air filter box on and pull all that off together if you like.

  • @scottl31

    Had '08 Corolla since June. On a cool night in Aug. got a P0171. Cleaned MAF sensor, then no code for about 500 miles, but it was pretty warm. As it got cooler, get code more often, usually within 2-4 min after starting. Fuel pressure and vacuum test ok (when warm.) So I'm thinking this gasket is what I need to try.

      22ft pounds for the intake bolts and 15ft pounds for the throttle body bolts..if you take that off 👍
      I torque them just because its plastic to cast aluminum so it doesnt take a whole lot to crack the plastic. If you're careful though you'll be fine. I used to not care but over the years I've inherited a couple torque wrenches and they've been great!

    I have a similar engine ( throttle body looks different). A 1zzfe.
    Did this fix the vaccume leak?
    Mine sounds like a vaccume cleaner when crawling in traffic in 1st gear and makes shifting not smooth at all. Makes it like bunny hop or surge and runs lean (air suck sound).
    Also like a rev hang kind of thing between changing gears- the revs don't drop when you push clutch in

    • @scottryan1807
      @scottryan1807 2 ปีที่แล้ว
