Its frustrating to see the best British band since Zep never giving the rewards they were due. I grew up on Oasis heard of this legendary mystical band called the Stone Roses I never looked back. Waited 17 years too see them I went to every tour... they are an Indie led zep... all powerful all encompassing yet punk with a real attitude... Stone Roses...your the greatest!🍋
Your right. I was smart enough to go to Blackpool. But had the chance to go to Glasgow Green but didn't; still kicking myself to this day. It was the prevailing opinion of everyone at Blackpool (while they were still sober enough) this was historic. That night, The Stone Roses touch on something that night that few bands had. Ther're up there with the Byrds, the Greatful Dead, even the Rolling Stones. Look how many bands they influenced. They were something.
You could say the same thing about the gig at Blackpool. It makes me that much angrier at Gareth Evans for f*cking everything up so badly. Very rarely does a band come along and is this brillant.
@@yungholsch343 You noticed all the same faces at the happenings way back in the day. I feel sorry for the generation that missed out on this worldly time.
The intro on the 12" is brilliant with just the cymals for a while and then that break beat that comes in. The melodic guitar run at the end of this performance of Elephant Stone is good aswell.
I think Silvertone deserve their fair share of blame as well, and the Roses too. Sure, they couldn't record new songs or play live during the 2 year court battle but they could've easily bunged themselves into a rehearsal studio or abandoned warehouse to record. They sort of did, then Squire goes off on holiday and it's the beginning of the end. They're my favourite band, incidentally. By a long fucking way.
best vocal performance of his career

Suck a lemon
They did a massive UK tour and sold out Wembley several nights on the bounce, they did alright in the end
It was the best they have ever played as the band say so themselves. And yes I was there, one love

A band at the height of their powers. Outstanding.

Best Ian Brown vocal ever?!
So grateful for these videos, what I would do to go back in time to see this live
I was at the sound check with o few other mates, the concert was second best to the experience, fuckin mint!
Can't wait to hear this one live for the first time next year!
Best live version of this song. I was only five years old in 1990; I wish I could have been old enough to have appreciated them first time around.
me too, nearly 20 years ago as well, fook. After going through all these now I'd say it was THEE best gig I've ever been at.
Haunting sound ian is great here cool band

So fucking good
Back then Ian's singing was often off but it's not here.
I wish I could've seen it as well as hear it. I don't suppose anyone knows if any video footage has ever turned up?
I’ve gotten pretty damn close to the opening guitar sounds with my pedals 🚀
Better than zep imo
