Agreed, this should be at the very least at the 250-500k+ view mark imo. I may not agree with all of his outlooks on the games but that's what makes his reviews/commentary great to me. Just getting unfiltered subjective thoughts on games with straight up honesty from his perspective is great. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this playthrough tho, I bet that ship is OP for a reason and probably that games difficulty setting. Oh it's too easy using the blue ship? Use the red one!
I can't wait for him to experience/play Hercules the Legendary Journeys for the N64 and Earthworm Jim 64; honorable mentions: Conkers Bad Fur Day, Super Mario 64, Star Wars EP1: Racer , Blues Bro's 2000, Mischief Makers, Rocket: robot on wheels, Glover, South Park: Rally, Shadow Man, etc...
This series arc is really interesting. I played a ton of N64 growing up, but apparently barely scratched the surface of the catalog. It's a lot of fun watching someone else have to figure out the more obscure games.
Star Soldier is one of the hardest games I played on the NES. Speaking of, I just got to the point of the 4th secret mission in the N64 version, and that was TOTALLY just a throwback to the NES game. That's awesome! All the enemies, and the environment, everything was ripped from the NES game, just in 3D. The final boss Starbrain is from the NES version too. That's such a cool hidden secret for those of us who have played the NES version.
Hey Thabeast dude... This series is killer. I missed out on N64 content as a kid, but the way you just describe the games and how to beat them really makes me feel like I have played them myself. I'm interested in these old games, but don't really have the time to play through them. I love this content. Top notch. Please keep it up and consider doing other old games in the same style after this series. Great work!
Oh shiiiiit. My grandma used to have this in her pile of N64 games she picked up at a garage sale for us kids to play at her house, lol! I played it so much but totally forgot the name. Man, this is a nostalgia blast.
I remember playing a bit of this game as a kid but I could never remember its name. That is until a couple years ago when I just decided to search every N64 shoot'em'up to try and find it, and I did! But somehow, I don't know if it was something on the cartridge I played back in the day, but the only stage I could remember playing was that first secret one. Like, I remember booting the game up and just starting out with it, I didn't remember the actual first stage at all, to the point where I was maybe thinking this wasn't the game I played back then. I remembered clearly the 3 ships as a kid, but to me, the game would always start at the 1st secret stage. Anyways, it's a great game, I'm glad I found out about it later down the line and seeing you playing it right now really brings the memories back! I'm loving this series as a whole, it's fueling my nostalgia really hard hahah
Oh wow! I was a huge fan of Star Soldier on NES. I had no idea there were any later entries in the series. That last secret mission is a recreation of the first level of the NES game.
Wow - childhood memory unlocked when I heard the game music and saw the blue ship laser - I definitely had this one and probably beat it dozens of times. I remember being disappointed at the super short length and general lack of creativity in the stage design compared to other shmup games like the Gradius series - I guess I’m just conditioned to be disappointed unless there’s a moai 🗿 stage
This game's soundtrack is crazy good, I recommend the arranged version of Erosion Corrosion, it's professionally recorded in studio and uncompressed on TH-cam.
For the part that was reminiscent of Star Fox 64, I can see how that segment was reminiscent of Meteo, but the space station debris in the background had me thinking of Sector X instead
Harvest Moon 64 is great! Love that game. Probably just get to year 3ish, married, upgrade your house. There is a credits roll sometime around year 3 or so, so an 'ending' is possible.
As a huge Star Fox/arcade shooter fan, I'm shocked that I've never played this. This series is amazing! So much N64 content that I never knew existed. Doubtful that you'll catch this comment, or will remember this tip when you get to "Aerofighters Assault", but do yourself a favor, and DO NOT use the "easy" controls. It nullifies the roll feature on your plane, and makes maneuvering very difficult. The standard control makes the plane control like a real jet, and this leads to a much more enjoyable experience.
For anyone wondering, here's the soundtrack of the game: th-cam.com/video/nuky6f_0UcI/w-d-xo.html It's sooooooo good, been listening to it non stop since thabs stream a few months ago.
Holy shit I totally forgot about this game. I didn't even recognize the name, but as soon as I heard that BOPPIN soundtrack my brain exploded with memories. Thanks for the nostalgia ride
How did I miss this game as a kid? Shoot em ups are my favorite genre... my favorite game on the NES when I was like 3 years old was 1986 and I'd always run to the Raiden or Raiden II machine in arcades or wherever that had em... seems like Raiden machines were everywhere in my town from pizza parlors to bowling alleys. Will have to give this one a try.
HM64 win condition is getting the party picture / having a full album. This takes weeks to do with a detailed guide, and is extremely involved. The other option for a win is to just get to the end of year 3, when the credits of the game roll.
Haven't played a ton of these games, but got on a kick of trying to beat a game called Einhander once....never beat it. I was microdosing a lot, and making electronic music at the time, so its style spoke to me. One thing though, maybe make some of your adjective choices different. Like you said "huge" about 5 times. Could use other words like gigantic for that last boss. Not a "huge" deal, just something to think about for future vids.
You also raced with extreme assist. The way you were racing the road courses, if you did not have some sort of auto brake, you would fly off the course. To say the only difference is the angles on the loops is insane, that is what makes tracks different. It’s ok to not understand a game and be bad at it.
So I know this might sound crazy, but it's justttttt possible that the "EX" for the bomb is short for "EXPLOSIVE." I know, it's crazy, but it just might be a short version of explosive, since it's not exactly a bomb but an explosive unique to the ships. I KNOW I KNOW, I'm a madman, but I am just thinking that it's SO CRAZY that it... *just might be true.*
I love this series so much, totally underrated content.

I’m hooked
Im glad you like it :)

3:59 the completely dry voice makes this hit so much harder and it caught me off guard
Ikr? I love deadpan humor.

"I just don't understand why this ship shoots behind you!
*30 seconds later*
"The boss flies all over the screen, even behind you!"
Oh shiiiiit. My grandma used to have this in her pile of N64 games she picked up at a garage sale for us kids to play at her house, lol! I played it so much but totally forgot the name. Man, this is a nostalgia blast.
I’m looking forward to this happening to me as well through out this series lol
aww, that's a dope grandma right there :)
Beast "I don't understand why it shoots behind me", Tank boss moves behind him surprising him but no admitting that it now made sense lol
This series has become my most favorite thing about Fridays! Can't wait for Harvest Moon!
Beast's favorite ship here was code named: "Shoop Da Whoop". Armed with it's BFG he was unwreckable. Great series Thab. Love this content.
I’m not a shoot ‘em up guy but I’ve always got a lot of zen watching people play through and review them. This was nice
One of the few TH-cam series I actively look forward to each week.
Great series, loving every video!
Love the use of the games music in your videos. Such a great series, thank you for your hard work.
i hope your channel keeps blowing up. keep up the work
So good, I remember loving both the music and the blue ship's OP laser!
6:50 - Eeer...what's that long member dangling between it's legs and why didn't you say anything??
Man this is some top notch content.
Look forward to this every week.
According to google, Harvest Moon 64 ends as soon as you plant something in every plot on your farm
My favorite part about these videos is watching him figure out the optimal strategy. This trait is what makes beast such a good gamer.

My brother and I loved this game as kids!! Soundtrack was also incredible. I've recently added it to my workout playlist
Also, Blue Ship Supremacy!!
You have a weighted N64 controller?
Wow - childhood memory unlocked when I heard the game music and saw the blue ship laser - I definitely had this one and probably beat it dozens of times. I remember being disappointed at the super short length and general lack of creativity in the stage design compared to other shmup games like the Gradius series - I guess I’m just conditioned to be disappointed unless there’s a moai 🗿 stage
My favourite planets consist of vemus mart and earch
This game's soundtrack is crazy good, I recommend the arranged version of Erosion Corrosion, it's professionally recorded in studio and uncompressed on TH-cam.
I've been trying to remember this games name for months now, God bless this series
I am enjoying this series, you definitely deserve more followers.
Looked like a fun game. Thanks for this series!
First time in my whole life I heard the term "Shm'up". Makes a lot of sense now
For the part that was reminiscent of Star Fox 64, I can see how that segment was reminiscent of Meteo, but the space station debris in the background had me thinking of Sector X instead
I'm surprised by how many of these I haven't heard of. Good job!
and this is why I subscribed, I never heard of this game and it looks like a lot of challenge and fun, good video
Harvest Moon 64 is great! Love that game. Probably just get to year 3ish, married, upgrade your house. There is a credits roll sometime around year 3 or so, so an 'ending' is possible.
Thab has the best SMM content on TH-cam... but this series is even better! Hope it gets the views it deserves eventually.
I am really enjoying this series. Thanks!
As a huge Star Fox/arcade shooter fan, I'm shocked that I've never played this. This series is amazing! So much N64 content that I never knew existed.

This game looks awesome!!! I never seen or played this before
Shooting backwards is great in shoot em ups where the enemy attacks from both sides.
Sweet can't wait! I'm also excited for when you finally get to conkers
This series is amazing.
I wish TH-cam would recommend this video like it does your other vids. Fix the algorithm TH-cam!
I will never not upvote one of these videos. Also, lol at "ships that look like a rack of ribs"
Reminds me of Super Strike Gunner for the SNES!
Great video and series, Thab
I laughed out loud at your calculus joke. Math nerds, man.
This game looked really fun
Amazing man, i love this! thank you so much!
I loved this game as a kid! Never knew about the secret missions
For anyone wondering, here's the soundtrack of the game: th-cam.com/video/nuky6f_0UcI/w-d-xo.html It's sooooooo good, been listening to it non stop since thabs stream a few months ago.
Thanks!
the arranged version of erosion corrosion at 45:12 in that video is one of my favorite songs, so damn good.
How doesn't this series get more views? It's great!
This was the first N64 game I've played. Your video brought me sweet memories
There's a Perfect Evaluation (most players consider that the ending) getting that is the 100% of the next game (I won't say it to avoid spoilers)
immediately knowing that the 3rd secret level was a homage to the NES star soldier makes me feel old.
I always love the game music from these old-school n64 games.
Here for the algorithm.
Here for the algorithm.
Hudson, a name I hadn't heard in a long time
Holy shit I totally forgot about this game. I didn't even recognize the name, but as soon as I heard that BOPPIN soundtrack my brain exploded with memories. Thanks for the nostalgia ride
I love this series. So much fun

Thanks Beast, love this series😎♥️
I'm excited for Rocket:Robot on Wheels.
One of my absolute favorites
thanks man, good stuff
This Series is realy great!
That's a cool series, I like the comments. Can't wait yo see you groove on Sin & Punishment.
Good stuff. Lovin this challenge.
Hahaha that line "hope it doesn't make me do calculus"
The blue ship is the goat. Its ex 1 and ex 2 are insane
Thanks for this series! It's my favorite series to watch right now.
Oof! Harvest moon! Hey, at least it's a fun game imo
Good stuff man. Keep it up. I predict more people subscribing very soon.
Can't wait 'til Jet Force Gemini. I hope you love it and 100% it.
Exactly the same here!
100% will be rough though
I love these kind of games
Perfect game to follow up the NASCAR snooze fest!
HM64 win condition is getting the party picture / having a full album. This takes weeks to do with a detailed guide, and is extremely involved. The other option for a win is to just get to the end of year 3, when the credits of the game roll.
I'm sure he's just gonna go for end credits, he doesn't go for 100% in these games, just beating it and extra content if he's up to it
Underrated game in it's genre. I rented this game enough times to have just bought it lol.
Thanks for helping make the subscription model
I didn't know this game existed. I've played the whole series on TG-16/pc-engine.
I absolutely love this game. A real gem! For those who like shoot ‘em up, you can’t go wrong with this one.
Haven't played a ton of these games, but got on a kick of trying to beat a game called Einhander once....never beat it. I was microdosing a lot, and making electronic music at the time, so its style spoke to me.

Already looking forward to Harvest Moon!
Banded Heck. Yup, that's what it said.
Beast is FIRING HIS LAZAAAARR!!
My laser is bigger than your laser!
I love the calculus joke but I feel like most viewed won't get it
I totally would have played this if I knew it was a thing. Super cool stuff!
I just click on these videos when I see them, I have no clue what's coming next. But I dig it!

Wow, Star Soldier and Harvest Moon 64 are some of my favorites on the console. Lucky me :D
You like shoot'em ups but this one was too easy? "Touhou Project" awaits you. :)
I am watching these in such a random order lol. I guess it doesn’t matter being the game order is picked randomly anyway 😄
I was reading the title and was like "what are the chances Earch is a typo for Earth"
What the title of the game is: Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth
What the title said: Star Soldier Svanishing Earth
Excited for Ogre Battle
do you have to buy every game or do you already own them?
So I know this might sound crazy, but it's justttttt possible that the "EX" for the bomb is short for "EXPLOSIVE." I know, it's crazy, but it just might be a short version of explosive, since it's not exactly a bomb but an explosive unique to the ships.

We love you
Hey, a nice 8 for enjoyability. Seems like he had a blast!
Ultimate n64 player imo.
Very much a genre that expects you to die a lot to learn the game.
how long do you think it will take to finish all these
I cant wait for harvest moon!
Oh man, I can't wait to see him play Harvest Moon! 😆
