      You can get the engine hoist st harbor freight or you can look around for a place to rent one. I took it out without the transmission because I didny have enough room to take them out connected, I've heard it's actually easier to take them both out together. You won't hurt anything if you leave them connected until their out

      ik it’s 3 years late but depending on the refrigerant you have you can do it yourself into the atmosphere. there’s two kinds, ones super bad, ones not that bad. i have an hr and when i called a guy to do it he said i could just release it into the atmosphere because of the kind it is

    Super helpful video. Thank you! Was wondering if you had to remove the driveshaft? And if not, any tips separating the motor from trans?

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks man, appreciate it. No I left the driveshaft attached. It's pretty starigh forwards actually. After you disconnect everything and take out all the bolts connecting the transmission to the engine, you'll just want to hoist up the engine a bit to get it past the engine mount bolts and wiggle it forward. I think I also used a pry bar and carefully pried them apart from each other. They should separate pretty easy that way. If they don't you probably have a bolt connected or a wire still connected

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I know what you're talking about it's probably a ground and you can bolt it to the engine or chassis if that's what it is. Both with work as a grounding point as long as it's touching bare metal with no paint.

    Great video, thanks for the helpful tips, I’m in the works of taking out my vq35de from my 350z. One thing I see you didn’t mention that I am having to face is the torque converter bolts keeping my engine from pulling out. Did u not have to do that or did u just not record it? Is it different on a manual vs an automatic? All I have left now is to drop the subframe and take out those bolts. Thanks again, following ur vids has really helped me while doing this alone.

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmm yeah you gotta be kind of careful under there. What I did was use a socket wrench with a breaker on it but now that they're stripped you might want to hit them with some heat (butane torches) and then grab some vice grips and get them on as tight as you can and try and pry them off

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They shouldn't be, I took mine off with the headers. Did you make sure all the connectors were off the tranny?? If so you can also use a pry bar to pry it apart if you're careful. Don't pry to hard and be careful not to mark up the surfaces.

    Hi kyle i just subscribe your chaneand this very informative for fx35 awd project to swap the engine. I just have a question. When you unbolted those bolts from Transmission connected to engine do i need to shift the knob to a PARK or NEUTRAL? And also should i worry about the transmission adopter shaft if i started to remove the engine im scared ro damage it. Im doing it DIY i hope i can get your answer thank u and God bless

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, is it an automatic or manual? Either way it doesn't matter if it's in park or neutral. You just have to make sure it can come through the body of the car. Also you don't have to worry too much about the shaft as long as you pull the engine away from the tranny and don't like accidentally set the engine down on it or anything. There is plenty of room to pull the engine forward of you have the front end off though. It's just re-installing that you should be careful. Good luck!

      Thanks man! Myfx35 is automatic AWD 2003 engine. The engine block blown up. So i just decided to get a salvage engine. Can i put 2007 engine on it? Instead of 2003 model? What about the harness do you think its gona be the same harness?

    • @KyleHidalgo
      @KyleHidalgo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NURsMec I'm not positive but it kind of looks like you're limited to the 2003 - 2005 engine for a simple swap. If you go higher than that it'll most like be a lot more involved. As far as the harness goes I don't know much about the fx35 but I would probably try to get an engine with the harness just in case so you can compare and swap if needed
