Well, this vid comes at the right time, I'm actually looking for info on GoPro native WB.
I've read a lot of complaints about the red colors being too orange-ish even after color grading, but those complaints were about Hero 9 and 10. If you could make a video about this, if this was fixed on Hero 11.
Also a vid on indoor/low-light shooting with native WB would be really interesting.
Thanks a lot for your vids and your great work !

I'm not sure if it was "fixed" with the HERO11 because I never used it with the HERO9/10. The Native white balance looks fantastic on the HERO11, but it takes a lot of tinkering in post to make it look good. I might make another GoPro “Studio” video, but using Native white balance. Thanks for the support!

Interesting, I tried Native a couple years ago and felt I couldn’t get the colors right. HOWEVER, I’m much better at color corrections now so I gotta give this another try.
The thing I don’t like with standard GoPro white balance, is even when set to 5000k the trees and leaves get this like neon green/yellow color that’s really hard to make look natural.
I saw this in your clips as well and the Native WB looked much better.
    Anyway thanks for sharing, cheers!

Yeah, the GoPro colors aren't the best out of camera. I hope you'll get good results with Native white balance!

I am now experimenting with Native WB in GP11 and after post-processing in FCP, I kind of liked it.
Also, I take a photo with my phone (without any AI processing) for colour reference.

Yeah, I was surprised with the results.

Looks good, but i personally think it is simpler for Daytime to measure WB with a piece of Printer paper and a light meter app and set the Camera to it or do it in post, this way you get pretty accurate Colours and safe a lot of time in Post.

This is interesting, would you please provide a video tutorial or a link on how to do this accurately? Thanks.

IF Ansel Adams has a clue about color balance you'd want to use a 40% grey card, not white. Just saying.

The Auto white balance on my new 12 is not great. It makes things look like its set too high, I wonder if there is some production variation. I am running the latest software update

how is it different from using auto?

I found it came out very warm tinted, not really natural at all. Took me ages to correct the colour on it.

I'm trying to correct Native WB from Gopro and it gets hard. Would you please tell me how you did it?

@@fedess07 To be honest mate, I just created and adjustment layer in Premiere Pro and used the colour adjustment wheels to get it right. Took a little bit of messing about but I got there in the end.

@@philiphuntonphotography200 Thanks for the reply. And yes, I'm still messing with it. Did it happen to you to find some brownish tone in shadows? and when trying to correct it, then it ends up greenish or magenta-ish? Well there is where I'm kinda stuck... If you found the same and have some tip to correct it I would really apprecieate it.

@@fedess07 I found the same mate, I just had to accept the best I could manage, fortunately I was only using the footage as a 3rd camera and used very little in the final video due to the nature of the native white balance. I now just use natural instead.

the white balance of my Hero 11 is horrible, the Gopro max under the same light test is more accurate. could be a problem of my hero11?
