    Pumpkin seeds float.. put them in a colander in a bowl full of water. they separate from the strings much quicker and you can skim them off the top. Try it.

    When I'm separating the seeds from the stringy stuff I put everything into a bowl and fill it up with cold water. Then I stir a bit and dip the stuff up and down into the water and all the seeds will float up! Easy to fish out with your palms or a strainer, and it's a really quick way to do it! :)

    Since you asked what other people have done, I use normal pumpkins. I try leaving some pulp, I think it adds a bit more flavor during the roasting process. Also, I usually don't use the air dry technique. I start the process right after I dig them out of a pumpkin (super fresh.) By hand, I'll mix the seeds with the seasoning and a dash of oil in a bowl ...Cumin, salt, pepper, basil and surprisingly a small squirt of lemon which adds a nice touch. If you want extra spice add a pinch of chili powder. All the baking techniques you demonstrated are very similar to what I do. Baking sheet, oil, etc. I actually like to mix them around every 10 minutes. Therefore it takes more time to roast. And I use 400 temp on a convectional oven.
    However, this upcoming autumn I intend to try new techniques. Yours will be will be one of them! They look delicious! Subscribed

    I’m weird. I pick the stringy stuff out but don’t rinse the seeds a lot because so like the flavor the pumpkin leaves behind. But I do the same recipe, otherwise!

    Can you stock seeds and bake in big batches? If can, how to keep the fresh seed?

    Thank you, excellent video. You made this simple and easy. Can't wait to try it. We have a pumpkin patch and will have about 30+ this year, several are already orange ripe.

    You actually dont need to get rid of the goop, the big hunks of pulp you probably should but the slickness of the seeds is good not bad

      Cary Gray I set my temp at 375° and take them out between 10-15 min, just have to keep an eye on them and wait until they're a golden color

    • @caryinky
      @caryinky 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TYler Vandall I found three recipes and all had different temps. So I just chose 325. I accidentally forgot about them and they cooked much longer than the recipe said. But it turned out great. I think they cooked for about 30 min. I was able to crack them open easily. I've been standing at my kitchen counter eating the seeds and watching TH-cam videos. MUST. STOP. AND. START. THE. DAY! Ha!

    Great advice for roasting. But please Dani, as you rinse, catch the water in an extra bowl. Take it out to the yard or garden. Conserve, conserve.
