Lordy! True. I totally won’t want to throw away pumpkin seeds again!
I already had most of the seeds separated from the strings and pulp, and put them in the fridge in foil.
I followed the recipe here to dry them, which I did with a paper towel, since they had already dried a bit in the fridge. I put them in a bowl with a little butter and melted the butter on them for a few seconds in the microwave, then salted them and put them in a 350° oven for 20 minutes. No longer though! Because at exactly 20 minutes, a few of them started popping off the foil in the oven.
Had I not taken them out at this point they would’ve burned. There was only about six seeds that popped off the foil. And this recipe is super tasty! Can eat as is or use them as topping! Nice. From headed to the trash, to delicious! Thanks!

Or you could put all the seeds and pulp in a large bowl of water...the pulp falls to the bottom amd seeds float to top. Then you just scoop the seeds off the top and toss the pulp. That's all. Happy fall, yall!

Thank you so much. I just emptied a carving pumpkin (saving the seeds) and processed the meat cut in 1 inch & smaller chunks to pressure can for making cat food in the future (when we stop getting deliveries from Chewy because of the diesel shortage and then if the store shelves are empty). Pumpkin and/or Sweet Potato are some of the ingredients in some recipes I found on TH-cam for homemade cat food. So I wanted to make roasted pumpkin seeds for my Husband and you supplied me with that recipe. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Judi

I never knew the difference between papitas and pumpkin seeds. I just though the papitas were inside the shell of the pumpkin seed. Thank you. First time doing this as I have never had a fresh pumpkin before. Someone gave us a large one.

Place you pumpkin innards in a big bowl or in the sink. Fill until loose seeds float and skim those off the top. Now start squishing the attached seed. As they release they will float. Super easy and only take a few minutes.

When I make them this way, I get flaky stuff. The seed has a translucent film on it that flakes off. I noticed if I let the seeds dry for a week I can pinch off that translucent film off of the seeds, but it’s time consuming pinching it off of each seed. Do you have any other ideas how to remove that filmy stuff?

I really want to know what BIGGS does to their Pumpkin Seeds because I have to hold myself back from eating a whole bag! Love them! I assumed that they may soak them but everything online seems to suggest that it just makes the shells come off. That's where all the fiber is!

So it's basically: gather the seeds, optionally soak to separate, optionally boil them for 10 minutes, dry, season, and roast them for 20 to 30 minutes at 350F.
