    Thank you for this video. I have lived in the Detroit area my entire life. I have been blown away by the redevelopment that is happening downtown. You guys do a great job! My wife and I watched your videos on the UP last night as well and are now planning a trip for next summer. You reminded us how beautiful the UP really is.
    On your next trip to Michigan I recommend going to the Henry Ford in Dearborn. Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village are Smithsonian level museums. There is so much great history to explore there.
    Also, you guys should check out Ann Arbor. Great food and culture and the vibe is something you both will really love.

    I've enjoyed watching all of your videos on your travels in Michigan as a born and raised Michigan resident. I used to not think much of my state but now I have a lot of love for my state. Particularly glad to see you go to Detroit. I think a lot of Michigan locals avoid it as much as tourists because of its reputation but it does have good points. I have an ex in Florida (he has a tough attitude and doesn't intimidate easily) who I explained that I live somewhere close to Detroit and his reaction was "Oh, even I know not to mess with Detroit!", I had no idea it was so notorious across the US as a dangerous place until he said that though I've always known it was fairly rough in parts. You just have to know the parts better to avoid and hopefully someday it will get back to a point where there is no area to avoid, is no longer known as a dangerous place and renewed as a must visit for anyone coming to Michigan. I hope to see it become a city somewhat similar to Chicago if it ever got to the point of perhaps being close to its former glory. What do you think? As a Michigan local that is close to Detroit and hopes for it to be restored, what do you think you as a tourist would like to see improved or added to Detroit that would make it more appealing to tourists and rewrite its negative reputation?
    Sorry your trip to Detroit didn't go so well from things being closed and whatnot. I hope you'll consider another trip to Detroit at a time where you can experience the things you were hoping for. Warm regards and safe travels to you both from a new fan.

The food and the happy buzz of people make this a not to be missed event. I recently walked our city streets filming the street art murals too. Fabulous. I was born in Wyandotte, grew up in Detroit.
    There's so much to see and do in Detroit and the surrounding areas.
    You've got 3 HUGE casinos, (there's a 4th in Windsor, ON but you'll need a passport to get to it.) Lots of museums, bars, sports venues, restaurants and so much more.
    I recommend the Henry Ford in Dearborn. It's a MEGA museum with a replica village, IMAX theater AND they have shuttles to the Ford rouge factory for tours. They have Abraham Lincoln's bloody theater chair, 4 retired presidential Limousines, Taft's carriage, the bus that Rosa Parks was arrested on, a HUGE indoor train exhibit, and so much more!
    For a good eat, i recommend any coney island restaurant. It's A Detroit tradition. Make sure you save some Faygo and better made chips for me! I live in grand forks, ND now and I miss it.

    I grew up just a couple of miles west of downtown back in the 70's and early 80's and it was rough. BTW Detroit had its peak at the end of WW2 in 1948 with an estimated population of 2.1 million and 2.2 million within 140 square miles if its enclaves of Highland Park and Hamtramck were included. That would have briefly put it at the nations 3rd largest city. The resource on that info is the Detroit Free Press.

      People who live here don't think of "Detroit" as ending at the city limits of Detroit. Instead, we think of it as the five-county metro area, and I'd include Cranbrook as another great day trip, plus Kensington Metropark, too. There is a lot of loyalty in the people who reside here. All those people who used to live in the city moved out into the surrounding suburbs, as did most of the big businesses, when the City instituted an income tax in the mid-1960's. Reporting the current population residing in the City of Detroit is misleading. The five-county area has over 4,000,000 residents, many of whom live in spectacular lakefront homes in Oakland County. That wealth, and that population, can support a wide variety of museums, public parkland, and other fine tourist attractions.

    Just be careful where you go and what time of day. It's better than a few years ago and has some very nice and exciting things to see and experience but do so with eyes open. Some suburbs are beautiful and safe others not so much. Be careful on the roads reckless driving is the norm

    You need a part 107 to fly your drone and further a business. Yes youtube is a business, also you cant be flying over cars and people like that. You guys could get in some serious trouble from the FAA, im not trying to be "that guy" i just dont want to see anyone get in trouble and make it harder on those of us who use drones for a living.

    While I am a huge fan of cities…. and am always rooting for rust belt cities…. I think it’s a bit premature to be hailing the Motor City with all of these wild accolades…. It certainly seems better than in the recent past… but the bar is set pretty low. Let’s enjoy what has improved and work towards gradual improvement but reading some of the responses here is almost Orwellian.

      Cities can appeal to different people in different ways. I enjoy some of it's unique "character" not being full back. Most other cities are so unattainable and expensive, it's not as easy to connect or find a place. I'm all for progress, but we can't progress so far Detroit loses what makes it special. I think it's in a fun spot right now!

    • @brianog5267
      @brianog5267 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand what you are saying… but as far as a clean functioning safe financial solvent city Detroit is not even close…. 40-60% of the cityscape is abandoned….it’s amazing to see that Dresden and Hiroshima are healthy functioning cities and a significant percentage of US cities are not…

      The vlog aired in 2021 and many people still envision Detroit in its bankrupt state. The opener was to address the vision many people have and then show that it's not true. We actually mention how much development has gone into the city as of late and how beautiful fun and inviting it is. You definitely don't have to watch we know our videos won't be for everyone!

    • @Imakemixes666
      @Imakemixes666 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EatSeeRV exactly why people who envision it that way and say it like that are the ones spreading false information. Constantly talking about the "run down" "bankrupt" place is what keeps people away from visiting.

    Over the years since we started recovering from covid lockdowns, I started loving Detroit much more than any city in the Tri-State Area. When I take mass transit like as Long Island Railroad, Metro-North Railroad, and New Jersey Transit RR (NJT cancellations COUGH COUGH), I picture myself in Detroit at every station stopped at or bypassed! I also picture myself in Detroit when I eat at various places in the Tri-State Area. Detroit and its surrounding Metro Areas in my opinion also have SO MANY friendly people, especially girls/women, and I think about all the vibes spread when using mass transit in my home region. I am DYING to visit this beautiful city someday! 💞💞💞💞

      Some people like to contribute as a way to say thanks for the work we do. If you want something ask for it, it's not a requirement for watching or enjoying our videos. But it is appreciated. And I'd like to mention we do contribute to you're retirement plan by paying social security taxes. The same program that that will never pay me back when I reach retirement age.
