Your channel is becoming the equivalent of a paid sewing course. And your Patreon is actually worth it. I have been watching you since 2020 and I have learned so much and I attribute my smarter finishes on my garments all to you. Fit is so important for my comfort and you are absolutely the master of fit and finishes. Thank you for all you do. Much love from the USA. 💚🏜️

Sway back adjustments are so commonly recommended, however, you've clearly demonstrated not only how to make them, but more importantly that other adjustments may be needed instead. I appreciate the time and effort you take to create fit series videos that are such valuable resources of useful information. Thank you, Karina!

In my opinion, you are correct not to add length back to the bottom of the garment after sway back adjustments. The garment will look crooked at the bottom when hanging on a hanger with the back adjustment, but when you have it on your body, the hem actually hangs straight all the way around. I often adjust as much as 1 inch.

What a great way to start the day in Canada - watching a LP&N fitting video! I never understood the term ‘sway back’. I know the folds went away when I started sewing with LN patterns. Just thought I was sewing better. You have the nicest wardrobe. Love the makes. Thank you for all that you do. ❤👍

I think I'm guilty of not measuring my hip low enough. I have hip-dip and a B-belly and it can sometimes be confusing to find the right spot on my body to measure the circumference because most patterns are drafted for an hourglass shape. Which is fine, I'm not complaining, I can't expect pattern companies to cater to such a specific body shape, human bodies are so varied. Thank you for so many options to consider when altering patterns to fit well.

I really only started to understand fitting adjustments this year, and the importance of making a test sew before cutting into my good fabrics when I’m confident of fit adjustments. This video was just amazing, and gave me a greater understanding - thank you so much! I’m 5’2”, short waisted, pear shaped with a narrow waist and widest hip measurement at my upper thigh; and so far I’ve been working on adjusting breast darts to my apex, shortening the bodice, widening the hip (which also benefits with a gentle fall over the belly), and lengthening the thigh to below my knee… and adding length to the back hem to cater for the curve of my bum😂. But now I understand back waist and bodice fitting a lot better😊

Thank you. I'm a brand new sewer so this may sound wrong, but it seems to me that if we add a little back in at the hem, it would not affect the small of the back adjustment. I'm not understanding what you mean. I'm short waisted and watching videos as I learn how to draft a sloper. I'm enjoying the process, there's just so much to learn.

I love all your videos , thank you. They are very useful for me as a beginner. I had a scoliosis op as a teenager and often have excess fabric on my left side at the back, this is the side which was not affected. I am still learning and due to the curvature pushing my right side ribs out , I need to do an adjustment just on the left I think. I realise you can't comment to individuals as it would take fatbtoo much time but if anyone else I reading this with some knowledge, please could you give me a thumbs up if this is the adjustment I need. Many thanks. I do usually wear baggy clothes and bag out blouses above jeans to disguise my back shape but I am wanting some nice fitted dresses.

These dresses are just beautiful! I have to order all of my fabric online so sometimes it's not as nice as the pictures but now and then I get a nice surprise. I haven't many companies to choose from here, it seems to me like many are just interested in making quilets or knitting. I can knit but I have a hard time sitting still for long periods. I just joined your Patrion, so hopefully my sewing skills will get better and better. I have 3 sewing machines and one serger. My one machine is over 30 years old but it still works like new, I'm going to pay close attention to your shirt making because I have a hard time with the plackets to make it look nice.

Is there a link for a video you've done on how to properly measure a flat pattern piece (before cutting) to your waist/torso link? So we know the waist line hits our actual waist line as you were showing us with the dresses? I see videos how to measure my torso but not how to measure the pattern piece itself to know where it will fall as designed. Thank you Karina!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this video. You think like I do and it’s awesome. I don’t ever have sway back, because mine is somewhat straighter. But all the other issues that can come up to give the impression of sway back can and do affect me. I am short at 5’3” and large busted. Knowing that full bust adjustment can mean the difference was an enlightening point to me. Thanks again for all the good info.

Another great fitting video. I love patterns with center back seams, better fit and saves fabric if you don't have a directional print. I have to add my swayback adjustment to my hem when I make a dress, because of the fullness of my butt. It could be considered another type of adjustment, otherwise my back skirt is to short. Thank you for this amazing video explaining how and why to may the swayback adjustment.

Question, would this work for a protruding calf muscle? I was told to add back the length that was taken out to fix the pooling on the back leg and it doesn’t work? I think you are right and adding it back at the hem cancels out the adjustment. Your thoughts please🙏

That is a method, if you like it, you can use it but any pivot and slide is just not my preference and I find it less exact. I've never featured any pivot and slide method on the channel because I prefer the slash inside the seam allowances methods.

The vast majority of sway back is not actually sway back but pronounced bum or full bust as you said. Or the pattern drafted for a longer than avg torso (using model proportions as their baseline).
