As an Irish man living in Taiwan, I can't thank you enough for doing this. We lost Christy. He was Finglas, he was Dublin, he was ours. We don't have many people like that now.

As an Irish man, Christy represented so much for us. He was a man of the people and someone everyone on our island truly respected. Life gave him a hard dig but he was resilient and released music that will be played and celebrated for generations. Rest in Peace Christy and thank you for showing appreciation on this channel and in these comments.

Aslan was my favorite Irish group ever. They always got the crowd going.

I’ve seen these guys three times. And every time they put on a gig that could easily be replicated in a stadium, I don’t fully understand the reasons, but there are reasons why they had trouble breaking internationally. But they hard-core fans in Ireland and the amount of gigs they have done over 30 years means basically every member of the audience knows the singalongs and in what way they are expected to interact in the bridge. It’s a magical experience. The Antman shows I’ve ever been to in my life where the crowd is actively singing different background vocals to the lead because they know it so well. Usually the crowd follows the lead singer rigidly, that’s not the case with these guys. I saw them with their new singer a little over a month ago and it was just as good. Not the same as with the last singer, he was one of a kind, but they deserve all the luck

I was at that gig , brilliant but the lead made a album when he was thrown out for addiction. He made 1 album with conor goff , martin. And hartbeat are 2 of the best from a epic album

I was standing right beside the “half way line” guy that night ❤ and proud to have been now that we have lost Christy 😢 lives beside Billy (playing acoustic guitar and doing B/V’s during bridge) for many years in Bettystown - amazing Dublin institution and although they didn’t win worldwide acclaim for a few unfortunate reasons….. they fucking EASILY could have ❤

They were a very working class Dublin band. Tipped to go global around the same time as U2. Incidentally formed in north Dublin U2 were private school middle class kids. But addiction halted Aslans course. They are huge in Ireland. The lead singer Christy Dignam passed a few weeks ago. The script another Working class Dublin band credit Aslan as one of their influences. Crazy world is another anthem song to us Dubs

Aslan have an amazing catalogue. If you're unaware if them as you seem to be then the next go to song just has to be Crazy World, and also go for the live at Vicar Street version too. Hurt Sometimes, Down on Me, and my personal favourite Please Don't Go are all must listens.

The fact that Aslan never charted significantly outside of Ireland is a travesty. This performance comes from their Made in Dublin Album and DVD. They held a series of gigs at Vicar Street at the time recording them for this and I was lucky enough to be at one. RIP Christy.

Not one for this kind of react video, but this popped up on reccomendeds and well I'm a simple Gael: I see Aslan/Chirsty I give it a click...... We lost yer man just recently, long battle with cancer. I think theres at least 2 generations of us Irish for whom these guys soundtracked a good portion of our lives. He was a Finglas man, a Dublin man, but he was no jackeen, loved by jackeens (city/dublin people) and culchies (countryside/not dublin people). Vastly underrated, especially internationally! It's a bit cliche but you should definitely check out Aslans song Crazy World its a great tune!
