Tesseract is awesome, they always impressionante me. There's very creativity on this song and specially in this bass work. Undeniably this was so fucking great!
+TYFLOL I feel like that's already what they do, or something close to it. Out of all the Djent bands' bassists Amos is almost certainly the most funk-influenced. You don't see many bassists even not use picks anymore, as a jazz bassist who later got into metal it seems unfortunate to me
Andy Shores Yes, that's ofcourse true, but I wish they'd take it to another level... They have some cool bass moments but I'd just like them to be funkier
Thanks man! That was incredible! Loved your play-through of messenger as well. Still beating myself up that I missed you guys when you came through my area.
Holy Mother of Prog! That song is awesome...but actually seeing it happen is some next level revelation right there! Guess once I finally got Tool under my fingers I'll dig into this..Oh Boy, Oh Boy!
would love you guys to do a video demonstrating how you process bass in the studio. the tone is ferocious :D also this video is too perfect D: much love ^_^
Nice one Amos! Hopefully you can post more bass videos for most of the Polaris songs! I for one would love to see the "Cages" being played live. I was finally able to wrap my head around the rhytm in that song - being 15 notes of bass per "section", totalling up to 72 beats (or 15x4 + 12) for a larger "section" of music. Weird, but beautiful :)
Well... after listening to several videos with Amos playing the Warwick Thumb and this video with the Kiesel bass, I definitely like this tone way more. Way more punchy and full.
This weird and awesome bass has a lot more open mid-range that it sounds like his new tone needed. Definitely has less growl down low, but the mid-range/treble are more open and airy.
What's the tuning? I wish i could learn this song, and since it is posted with tablature... Hope anyone could post it. Also... Amos you're a composition god, and awesome bassist!
How do you play the fifth sixteenth note from section B. The tabs shows a hammered on ghost note (how does that work lol). Just mute with the fretting hand?
Something is bugging me ... there is a note ( a D on the 5th string ) kind of a ghost note, ( its after the 5 in the 4th string and 8th in the 5th string in the second bar of the verse ) i'm not sure if he is playing but i'm hearing
Somebody help me here lol What tuning is he playing in? I'm finally at a skill level where I think I can play this, but I absolutely cannot find the tuning anywhere.
Lukas Wagner I don't think so. Kiesel didn't offer an option for a MM style pickup for the Vader, so Amos probably threw away the original pickups and drilled a bigger cavity for the MM pickup
I was thinking the same thing. Whether he routed this bass out for a MM pickup, or he was experimenting with its position, it's definitely a proto type thang.
You and postones have got to be one of the greatest rhythm cores in a band.
Just beautiful.
Amos, you fucking rock! My fav Bass player so far
Dude, you're literally amazing. Such an inspiring bassist; you have such an innovative style that makes these grooves.
Amos im a drummer but you will always be my favorite bassist
I'm a drummer and Amos single handedly made me want to learn bass. Picked up my first 5 string a few days ago!
Beast mode! Bassists are so rare already, but really really good ones are even harder than that! TesseracT is indeed blessed to have this one!
Man, these playthroughs are insane. Thanks for sharing!
Tesseract is awesome, they always impressionante me. There's very creativity on this song and specially in this bass work. Undeniably this was so fucking great!
Honestly TesseracT should make funk djent on their next record

YES I LOVE THE IDEA
YES I LOVE THE IDEA
They're not a djent band. FFS.
This is the song that made me a fan!
You are amazing Amos... You have a great fan of your job in Brazil... Keep rocking
Amos is what you would call a pure bassist. The main and only instrument he focuses on. You can tell by the style 💪🏻
Thank you so much for sharing your Amazing Talent with us all ! can't wait to see more !
this is so immaculately done! one of my top 10 favorite videos on here of all time, you legend
Thanks man! That was incredible! Loved your play-through of messenger as well. Still beating myself up that I missed you guys when you came through my area.
I rate the over the shoulder camera over the neck, i never see it in bass videos and it works so well
Amos: I absolutely love your bass, man. It looks and sounds incredible.
You're extremely gracious for sharing this
I'm like "Oh wow this song is easier to play than it sounds." and then half way through "There it is!"
Love it. Such an inspiration!
THANK YOU MOS!!!
One of my favorite riffs
that flow is soooo sickkkk
Love that you included tabs to play with!

Watching this in anticipation of Sonder. Can't wait!
Holy Mother of Prog! That song is awesome...but actually seeing it happen is some next level revelation right there!
Guess once I finally got Tool under my fingers I'll dig into this..Oh Boy, Oh Boy!
watched this so many times, pretty crazy!
so gnarly
Good on ya, Hugh!
I remember seeing on fb that you picked up this bass on the day i saw you guys in sd. Awesome.
Kiesel Factory is based in Escondido!
would love you guys to do a video demonstrating how you process bass in the studio. the tone is ferocious :D also this video is too perfect D: much love ^_^
I think Tesseract can be classified as progroovesive metal?
Yeh prog djent
I mean djent is pretty much that. Very groove based prog metal
They're Djent which is basically the fusion of prog, extreme and groove metal
@@quinnmitchel4075 What kind of djent isnt prog?
@@coldfiresamurai6333 extreme? Are you kidding me?
So sick!!! Love it. What tone.
I fucking love you guys. You included the tablature???? hell yes.

Now that, my friends, is a unit of a bass
this is great! reminds me of fates warning pleasant shade of grey CD and the later stuff !!!
The pickup and its positioning makes this bass virtually a MusicMan Stingray tonewise
What a beautiful bass ♥
love this song, has a huge fates warning influence on it.
Epic as always
Now thats a beautiful bass guitar.
Amos you are my biggest inspiration for playing bass guitar. Also your setup is cleaaaaaan as fuck
Well... after listening to several videos with Amos playing the Warwick Thumb and this video with the Kiesel bass, I definitely like this tone way more. Way more punchy and full.
That's the reason why they used this one.
Warwick not punchy? What?
More punchy and full than Warwick? U w0t m8?! :D This bass sounds like paper compared to good ol' Thumb
This weird and awesome bass has a lot more open mid-range that it sounds like his new tone needed.
Definitely has less growl down low, but the mid-range/treble are more open and airy.
oh love that tone
Amazing job!
Thank You!!! please, play more Songs!!!
That bass is strait bitchin. Love it.
Incredible.
holyshit!
this is great, that fucking bass looks and sounds amazing!
Amazing!
yea my dude! yo this reminds me of an old video game and its OST... Pitfall.. in the mines...
cheers to the killer drum tone too
This song is fucking hard man.....
Groove for days.
this dude is a fucking boss omg i fucking love tesseract every one of them are amazing fuck!
Not a fan of the keisel at all (In terms of looks) but the tone of it and the playing are fucking sensational
We need more Bass videos and can you please make a bass lesson to one of the songs! \m/
Clever Kiesel guitar case placement
so much YES
If a buddy of yours has never heard any djent, show them this. the shear tone of the Keisel will floor their ass.
Archimedes Arisen I actually showed this to my parents.
Until now they thought Djent was only bands like After The Burial
Anybody know what software was/could be used to scroll the tabs on the video?
Wowwww
Love you dude!!!! Gotta say though, I'm really missin you with the Warwick tone! You can borrow my Vamp whenever you want ;)
name spelled wrong in title!
(awesome playthrough)
+Dyllyo It was "Wlliams", now it's edited.
What's the tuning? I wish i could learn this song, and since it is posted with tablature... Hope anyone could post it. Also... Amos you're a composition god, and awesome bassist!
Drop A.
THANKS!!!
How do you play the fifth sixteenth note from section B. The tabs shows a hammered on ghost note (how does that work lol). Just mute with the fretting hand?
for some reason the vocal style reminds me of Michael Jackson. kinda cool for the song though.
55Ignis Dan, the singer, once said that Michael is actually one of his biggest influences!
yes! the pronunciations and the general timbre is very MJ here
th-cam.com/video/hmwUssUtDG4/w-d-xo.html heres their singer covering a Michael Jackson song!
I'm wondering how on earth Amos manages to mute those strings. Especially for that opening riff!
Index & ring fingers, left hand. Check out the small rotations of the index finger to mute the strings sideways.
🙏❤️
Yessir!
love u fam

Its marked by the (x) in the tabs
@@xXLirik52Xx Yep, that's a ghost note
I’ve learned the song up to 2:30 but that’s when both my brain and my wrist break
Yes, when I learned this song it I found this part really hard. But it's just a matter or training.
@@fabriziodalembert5916 this song is literally nothing to me now that i have 2 extra years of practice lol
2 thumbs up for including tab!
That bass looks so clean I could eat a $500 Kobe steak off of it.
Thank you for this! How do you like the Kiesel vs. Warwick?
Nice cover! :D
What's the tuning is?
Jesus Christ how in the name of god do you get a Bass tone like that....
intro frames: bass playthough....
why? I can't unsee this :'(
I would love to play this some day on bass. Even Davie504 would struggle with the rhythm here...:)
👌👏👏👏
Did you guys make some bass backing track for this song?
the shadow of the plant seems like a cat 0:48
Somebody help me here lol What tuning is he playing in? I'm finally at a skill level where I think I can play this, but I absolutely cannot find the tuning anywhere.
Drop A - AEADG
Did you use this bass on the recording too?
+Daniel U Amos got this bass after recording Polaris. I think Jeff Kiesel had approached him during one of their shows on their Polaris tour.
+Greg Bradshaw Yea seriously. I love Jeff, but if you're going to pull someone away from a Warwick, you better fuckin deliver.
does anyone know the tuning?
AEADG
Master
what a masterpiece xd
I could never get into the Brandon Boyd-type vocals of this band - that being said, Amos' playing is something to be wholeheartedly appreciated.
whats with the massive pickup route?
+hippiehobo1 I believe this is the prototype and they experimented with pickup positions ;)
+hippiehobo1 probably to test different positions
Lukas Wagner I don't think so.
Kiesel didn't offer an option for a MM style pickup for the Vader, so Amos probably threw away the original pickups and drilled a bigger cavity for the MM pickup
