Dan is easily the most consistent vocalist in the progressive scene, which is really a testament to his talent given how inherently demanding the scene is
I'd add Spencer Sotelo to that list. He started off as a really unsure live vocalist but he has gotten better and better with each passing year, it's incredible to see

Daniel Gildenlow is something else, even with his age and health issues he sounds like a recording every time he performs. Check out Iter Impius from the BE dvd for some of his live vocals.
Let's not forget about Einar Solberg as well

Played this song out loud from my phone, and my 7 year old asked me how many singers the band had. I said one, and the confusion on his face was a picture. So I showed him the video, and I could see the cogs in his head going round like, "Wut?" He asked me how he (Dan) does it, and I said ,"He's just a beast."
Thanks for blowing the mind of my 7 year old and making him more interested in your music.

That's because it was most likely did some post processing / volume automation in post. Not to take anything away from his performance thought. Amazing vocalist without a doubt
@@Shane-zo4mg True, but I've seen them live three times and he doesn't sound all that different live. He's just really good.
@@Shane-zo4mg Hi Shane, the performance is totally natural with some minimal processing including de-essing, EQ, compression, some reverb and delay that is automated along with the volume but nothing in the area of pitch correction. The whole idea is to deliver a strong and realistic single track performance. There are also a few harmonies dotted around but nothing that gets in the way of the lead. Cheers - Dan

How the hell does someone get this good? The cleans are absolutely crystal clear and beautiful, and the screams are absolutely intense. Just another reminder that he's one of the best in the genre.

Not just this genre - remember, Zeta and White Moth Black Butterfly are also Dan's projects and not in this genre 😊
We all love his voice but let's mention his amazing mic technique here... Notice how he handles all the airy p, b, or f sounds for example.

Jamison Reid I am so glad to hear. I went to see them 3 times open for Gojira and that's how I became a Gojira fan! They literally blew the roof off every venue. Loudest band I've ever seen. Holyyyy shit!

Same here. For me it was their first album. That experience opened me up to a whole new view on music and art in general. Forever my favourite musical experience.

Those 2 unclean lines in Smile is my favorite part of the whole album. The placement and buildup make them so satisfying
My Son has just signed up for vocal coaching, he is a primarily a guitarist and bass guitar, he can sing he isn't bad, he started though doing shouty vocals. He has potential but he said himself he wants to learn from Dan.

I love how each band is it's own context. Each band that you work in is uniquely Dan but it own unique headspace and context! That's a talent all in itself!
I'm curious to know Daniels screaming technique. It sounds healthy and unobstructs the clean vocals

I'm a drummer , i Remember listening to you here in Milano at Legend club in 2016, i had waited long to listen to the contersionist and tesseract drum perfomances, i was there with an Italian progressive metal core band wich Also happen to have a really sick drummer , the band destrage. I was hiped up , but i remained astonished for your vocal perfomance , even in a Little place with no such a good acoustic like the Legend...cheers from Italy, you are really a force of nature.

My Son who is a guitarist who has his degree and masters in music technology and performance.
And he can sing a bit but he signed up to do vocal coaching with Dan.
And I'm not kidding but he hasn't been doing it very long and has sang Smile and King and I couldn't believe how better he was so we know he on the right path. He is doing health stuff he recommends to look after your voice the guy is just amazing !!!
