    Amos sounds like a Victorian-Age nobleman tired of living in close contact with common boredom

      The guitar rig is just very simple in comparison since everything is MIDI controlled with modellers. Got to love Amos's voice though, so more of it is always welcome.

    thats a tiny bass but i swear this is the biggest tone i have heard from Amos, no offense to Warwick there basses also sound great!

    • @shanewalton3769
      @shanewalton3769 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've owned a Kiesel AW5 [the ebony topped one in their gallery was built for me] and have to say that I believe that his tone is more of a product of production rather than the bass itself. I was VERY disappointed...well built, great playing, but horrible tone IMO.

    • @fireemblemistrash75
      @fireemblemistrash75 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shane Walton The signature correct? How was it, asking cos been considering his variant over the others.

    • @shanewalton3769
      @shanewalton3769 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Milk Wishes To Converse yes indeed I had the AW5 signature. I owned one and played 2 others. They are superbly made instruments that play well. Their tone however is greatly lacking. There’s no real girth to the tone. Additionally as Amos eluded to they are very susceptible to interference and hum. Kiesel made every effort possible in shielding the electronics but exposed pole pieces just tend to amplify any and all things which is particularly bad if you’re playing a venue with suspect wiring or different kinds of lighting schemes. Of course these are my personal opinions and not intended to be a slight in any way. I wanted to love the bass but sadly I couldn’t get past the tone and hum. I’m back playing Roscoe Basses.

    • @fireemblemistrash75
      @fireemblemistrash75 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shane Walton No girth? Shame, I don’t think I could sacrifice that without eqing the hell out of my tone.
      Looks cool but I assume it’s that Musicman Pickup. I play metal so I need a thicker sounding bass, plus I play with no pedals thus that limits me more (but I have a mesa boogie and can crank it to overdrive)

    • @shanewalton3769
      @shanewalton3769 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Milk Wishes To Converse I dig what you’re saying and yes, it does require lots of eq, which is why I said his tone with the Kiesel is mostly a product of outboard gear and engineering.
      I wanted to replace the pickup with something else, hoping that it would help out, but the size is kind of odd ball. I usually use Bartolini pickups but nothing they had would fit and I didn’t want to alter the bass with an exotic top. I do believe however that Nordstrand MM pickups would fit, although I never had an affinity with their pickups.

    Is Kiesel's production 'Carbon Neutral' ?? I know Warwick have made a big deal out of there factory in Germany being 'Carbon Neutral'. I'm sure Warwick could build a bass using different woods.

  • @MellonVegan

    6:57 That's not true. Not for basses, at least. Concerning guitars, I can imagine Jeff (along with Ola) having played a huge role in making headless popular again but you see so many more options for headless basses around. Granted, there are more but smaller builders for basses than guitars, so maybe that's why they wouldn't register as being so prevalent. Still, Kiesel introduced their first headless bass 5 years ago and I know at least 4 German bass builders (and 2 from Italy) who've been doing it for longer. Kiesel is just more popular.

    "there's a lot of wastage in the world, and I don't want to be a part of that" *has 2 basses instead of using one 5 string*

    • @JoshuaCWolf
      @JoshuaCWolf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      As he said the woods he's using for those 2 are sustainable and don't take long to regrow as opposed to his older basses. I reckon using 2 basses made of more or less infinitely sustainable materials rather than using one 5 string that uses rarer materials from trees that don't grow quickly and are harder to sustain overall is a lot better.

    • @christianvoltaggio9460

      An internationally touring musician limiting himself to a primary bass and a backup is rare. Between airport luggage handlers tossing them all over the place and all of the other terrible things that could go wrong with a stringed instrument, Id say hes being pretty brave bringing only 2.

    • @SJW82
      @SJW82 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am sure I heard somewhere If you are a touring musician and you have a guitar or bass on the endangered list, they can actually confiscate it from you when you enter a new country. I may be wrong....though that would make sense to drop the Warwick!
