I figured that heat tape wouldn't work. I'm glad that I saw this video, because I want to get rid of my heat lamps. I'm constantly having to mist my substrate, due to it drying out.
Hi, thanks for making this video. Just curious if you have an update on it and maybe how to were you show your thermostat set up and where you’re running your heat tape and everything just like you I have been on forums and looking over TH-cam videos you are the first one I found that had the guts to at least try this out and advertise it. Thank you.
It's worked perfect for me. I literally messed with the thermostats for a couple of days and then after that I haven't touched them since. I have to how to clean out an enclosure video and in it you will see how I do my thermostat probe. Thank you subscribing to our channel and there is more to come. 💯
My biggest enclosure is 4x2x2 and I have a 3 foot piece on the bottom of it taped up. My temps go from 92-85 from one end to the other. I ordered the heat tape from Reptile Basics.
My 3 feet enclosures have a 2 foot piece under them and I put about 3.5 inches of substrate. I use Cypress Mulch Blend. You can get it at Lowe's for like 5 dollars for a huge bag. I think it's 40 pounds maybe 50
Yeah good, if it works do it man. Too many opinions in this hobby sometimes and not enough understanding. I'm going to try it myself with our next build.
@@HannahHamilton-k1i always put your heat on the outside and you want to tape it to the bottom of the enclosure using Aluminum HVAC Tape and with the tape you only do the edges to hold it in place. I'm sure that a heat mat would work, but I've never tried it, so that would have to be something that you would have to try out and see if it works.
@@BallPythonPassion thanks for replying so quickly I figured that the heat mat went on the outside because that’s what I do with my glass enclosures but wasn’t sure with pvc. I’m upgrading my ball python next year and was very helpful. Thanks a lot!
Also, make sure when you do belly heat to have all 4 corners elevated that way the heat doesn't get trapped, because it could potentially burn your house down. I use those aquarium corner pieces. You can get them on Amazon pretty cheap 👍
So I am assuming that the heat tape will work well, On glass It looks like I must get a thermostat. Do you know of a particular brand that has a thermostat that comes with? Set 12 inch thick heat tape. I love the idea. Thanks again for the 411 and the replies....
Since you are using glass get a heat pad with a thermostat setup. You can find them on Amazon. Just make sure that it fits the bottom of your enclosure and only covers like 1/4 of it because heat travels more through glass

It's the best decision that I made with my enclosures 👍
Excellent information. Thanks
You're welcome! 🙂
Awesome information
Do you have a screen top ? Or closed top on these enclosures? I have a 4x2x2 myself for my Dumeril’s boa
@@ellisviel3529 they are all screen top

It's been working fantastic
I have a question can I use a heat mat for pvc or does it have to be heat tape and is the heat tape on the inside or outside of the enclosure

Can you put the heat mat underneath the pvc tank?
I use Heat Tape and yes I have it taped to the bottom of all my enclosures and make sure you use a thermostat as well

I actually watched this video before. However, I did not understand it due to my 0 knowledge of keeping a Snake makes a lot of sense now...

Are these dubia enclosures?
@giovannibates3602 yes! That's all I use. Best on the market!!
I have a video on how to assemble them
@@BallPythonPassion the heat tape penetrates the pvc?
@@giovannibates3602 yep! I have it on 5 enclosures
@giovannibates3602 the pvc isn't thick like most enclosures. Dubia knows what they're doing 💯
Who says this? The heat tape or enclosure / pvc manufacturers/ distributors?
It's because Dubias enclosures are only 2/3" thick, so the heat penentrates perfectly
