    Great advice & tips. As a coach myself I always stress bending forwards, as you called it getting lower and creating some room for your racket to move as well as allowing good line of sight.

      So true, bending forwards is what intermediate level should start doing even at "ready" stance. I thought for beginners it would be easier to understand and do if I said lower :)

      Yes I will put it on the list of what to make. Forehand serve (Pendulum serve) will be in the works, but I did not think to make a backspin specific serve. I will be releasing Reverse pendulum serve which is the most popular serve done by Pro's and it's build for backspin.
      But I will do for you a tutorial on "how to start training backspin effect" and "easiest backspin serve" you can do :) Backspin serves are somewhat easy to do in general, issue is the quality more so than technique so I will get you covered for both :)

    I gonna practice all these serves. Thanks alot. How do I attack deep back spin on my left hand or weak hand?

    • @DublinTableTennisClub
      @DublinTableTennisClub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For more sharper spin try to make a quick snappy arm movement with contact and that should get you a lot spin as well. At the start you might have a hard time controlling its length, but quality will be good.
      To answer your question, you have few options.
      1.) Because it is long you should always think to attack any ball in general. Most likely with a forehand / backhand loop or topspin. That is more for intermediate level and experienced in training.
      2.) For little more safer choice chopping is the best option. Either get the contact of the chop literally OFF the bounce (and I mean literally as soon as you can) so that the ball will have the less spin possible ( before it raises) so it is easier to do and have control over the net.
      OR anticipate it long and step back a bit more from the table. Let the ball come to you / your reach. Try to be square to the ball so in the middle of the body and try to chop it from there most likely using a more longer arm follow through so you can actually get the ball over the net. Sometimes you might hit it high at the start so you opponent will attack and most likely win the ball. However, if you do get the ball low over the net even if its long. It will take an experienced / trained player to return with an attack. So they will most likely chop it back to you, but because it has a lot more force and spin as they are used to it they will hit the net or miss more times than they would hit over the net.
      It can be a smart defensive / offense attack using their own serve against them if the level is beginner to intermediate.
      Hope this helps and let me know you get along :)
      Eddy

    • @DublinTableTennisClub

      In your case it is more about the sharpness of your arm and more use of wrist.
      Start by analyzing how much min contact you need to direct the ball over the net. Practice and develop your muscle memory to always guarantee your ability to serve legally. Then start providing bigger arm swing with a lot of wrist action to provide deception of spin and quality!!

    Great tutorial about backhand service.one small query.is it not so we can create more backspin if we use lower part of racket rather the upper part.when we hit lower part we have full racket to brush under the ball.

    • @DublinTableTennisClub
      @DublinTableTennisClub  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that is a smart and correct point. You would get more “brush” stroke effect on the ball cause there is more rubber surface to use.
      I just suggest and think this is better to focus on because it is easier to learn to control the momentum. Almost if not all balls done with a full stroke ends up long or too much force of momentum. So even if the ball has backspin, because of the full arm motion the ball has natural force to go forwards so it never actually stops on the table surface.

      Backhand serve is easier to do, but also easier to read for opponents
      Forehand serve harder to do and harder to react
      If you’re just learning your first serve then backhand serve is best!

    @maracuder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two rule aspects for clarification: you don't have to stand behind the white line, but the the ball has to be thrown and hit behind that line.
    When a serve hits the net and then Hits the table's edge, it's not your point, but a "let".

    • @DublinTableTennisClub
      @DublinTableTennisClub  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1st - Yes that is true. You can stand sideways to the table. More commonly seen in reverse pendulum serves.
      2nd - No, a "let" is something else. You would actually win the point (if they don't reply) as it still considered a "legal successful" serve.

    • @maracuder
      @maracuder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DublinTableTennisClub
      Possibly this is some kind of misunderstanding... This is how a "let" is defined: "2.09 A let
      2.09.01 The rally shall be a let
      2.09.01.01 if in service the ball, in passing over or around the net assembly, touches it, provided the service is otherwise good or the ball is obstructed by the receiver or his partner;" So, when a serve touches the net, it's not a direct point for the server,but a "let".
      What do you refer to with "if they don't reply"? Do you mean, when touching the net is overseen be the returning player or the referees?

    • @DublinTableTennisClub
      @DublinTableTennisClub  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh yes yes I misunderstood 😅 I’m not sure why but I was just thinking in a different environment, but yeah “off a serve” hitting the net would mean a re-serve.
      However, still the word “Let” is used when another ball arrives from another table or something makes the rally stop due to obstruction. Then it’s called a “Let”. To pause and reset.
      Hitting the net on a serve is just “Net” and it needs to be attempted again

    • @maracuder
      @maracuder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DublinTableTennisClub No. A let comprises all reasons to repeat a rally without affecting the score. This includes a serve touching the net. I just posted the corresponding ITTF rules paragraph that states, a net serve is a let. The term "net" may be colloquial and common, but nothing to officially describe a rally's result.

    • @DublinTableTennisClub
      @DublinTableTennisClub  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really!!? I need to look into that myself too because I did not know this. Thanks for that 😊 But, right off the bat it makes me think what is the point of the word and concept “NET” in our game because other racket sports Net is still called out like in Tennis and Badminton. It makes for us redundant then.
      What do you think?
