  • This was super fun! Ford invited me out to take a first look at the 2024 rangers and first ever Ranger Raptor.
    Does this mean i'm switching to ford? no, but I am on the look out for a second build! and i do think Ranger would make a great platform some a build like mine with a modern drivetrain and a little more comfort for the family.
    Thanks to everyone who has subscribed and followed my channels and adventures, without it none of these experiences would be possible!
    Excited to have the support from companies I really love.

    What I like about the Ranger Raptor is the impressive payload, much more than the competitors.

      I was impressed too. 1400 for the raptor version, 1800 for the non raptors. That’s really good!

    i love the idea of doing a copart version of what the rest of the youtube autospace does with sports cars. i dont know how much all of this is a full time job, but doing a build to show off at overland expo each year would be sick. hopefully with the write offs. sponsorships ad revenue and selling the vehicle it could be a profitable business.

    sweet! thanks for sharing. were you able to get a feel from the engineers how a camper build would do on the stock suspension? contemplating moving my Alucab Canopy Camper over to this platform (or Bison). Thanks!

    Thank you for sharing your trip to see the Ford Ranger! We picked up a used 2019 a year ago for our overland build vechical. He had started building an Expedition Overland Flatbed Rig on our F350 V10. When gas prices went crazy around covid, we stopped the build to switch gears.
    We wanted a truck that could work and play. The Ranger has the best in its class for towing, payload, mpg and overall cockpit space. Ie head room....No to mention the 2.3 turbo 10 speed transmission is the fastest way to putting a smile on your face.
    Extreamly happy we bought the Ford Ranger FX4.

    Hi, thank you for your content, they are always of high quality!
    Question for you since you are a Toyota guy like me. How do you like the Porsche? Lol. I am thinking of getting a used maccan for daily driving but I’m worried about break/fix and resale value. Thanks for your input

      Hey! I love the Porsche, actually have owned two, 1st gen cayennes. 2004 cayenne turbo with 130k miles paid $8500 drove until 176,000 sold for $9,500.
      Then the one in the video is a 2006 turbo s. Got it with 117k miles for $12,000. It has 200,000 on it now! I’ve had it longer then the truck and it’s been an awesome family suv.

      If you want to spend a lot of money on fixing things, then a Porsche is a great way to go! They are capable. But the German engineering is not build for long term dependability.
      Now, you know either way you will spend the money. Be it on a new car price. Or on a cheaper used price plus maintenance.
      You are better off going the used Lexus route. They are luxury with luxury features, but have the Toyota dependability. You can also get a Land Cruiser equivalent for less with the Lexus name, than with the Toyota name.

      Unibody means no flatbed. Few replaceable panels so incredibly expensive if you do some trail damage. Poor charging network in the states. Little to no aftermarket for offroad parts. Also its stupid heavy.
      Comparing electric trucks to gas is apples to oranges at this point...

    • @MandrakeDCR
      @MandrakeDCR 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Electric just isn't feasible for this kind of use yet. Mostly remote use, far away from power. Battery paks far beyond the capacity for solar panels to do you much good in the field to recover any kind of range to get out with, etc. You get ranges to exceed a true 450 miles WITH a load in all conditions, maybe you will start getting there. You really need more like 500 miles true range, in the event you want to go somewhere that's 150 miles from any charging station then you have a bunch of winding trails to get where you want once inside the area - with all the extra power consumption for the rough terrain? You're down by 200 miles just to get where you want. Electrical use while onsite, then packing back out? Yeah, there's nothing on the market today that's electric that can handle this, especially when it's a coin toss if the nearest charger works! :)
      Maybe in the next 5 years or so. Seems like battery packs are getting better with longer ranges as we go.

    Funny to hear you call this a mini truck… as you said they’re commonplace in the UK, but it’s about as big a truck as you’ll see on the roads here apart from occasional US imports. I’ve got a 2012 model 3.2 diesel and I’m really happy with it, it gets 30mpg with mixed driving too. Would make a good overland rig with a bit of money spent in the right places

    • @OverlandUnderBudget
      @OverlandUnderBudget  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ha I know vehicles here in the States are huge! We got the room on the roads though. And yes, 30mpg would be insane

    None of the midsized pickups are what should be considered a "Mid" size especially the ranger, its almost as wide as an F150 at 78 inches the F150 is 80, its just as long at 211 inches verses most F150's being 209-215 inches long its JUST as big as a full size with less capabilities... and its just as heavy as well, over 4,000 lbs in fact the lightest F150 is LIGHTER then the lightest Ranger by almost 200lbs... This isnt a small truck by any means. Why its considered a midsize i couldnt tell you... and why Ford MADE it THIS CHONKY doesnt make sense to me, but almost all the other midszies are just as heavy and large and long as their full size counter parts except the taco which is SLIGHTLY smaller and SLIGHTLY less heavy...
