- ( www.TFLcar.com ) If you thought that the only way to purchase a Jeep Wrangler was with a V6...you'd be wrong. In this series of videos Nathan and Roman review and test a SRT Jeep Wrangler. They test a Jeep Wrangler with the 470 HP SRT 6.4L HEMI engine up one of the steepest Jeep trails on the TFLcar test turf. That's right the same engine that's in the SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee and Challenger transplanted into the Wrangler. But before they can drive the beast, they check out the birth of this rock devouring 2013 SRT 6.4L HEMI Jeep Wrangler in this part 2 video.

My jeep wrangler Rubicon has a lift 40 bfg tires 456 gears Dana 60 rear ends with front and rear lockers and a hemi engine in it. She's my baby I love it it's a blast to drive off road
Man, I love these Jeep Wranglers! These two vids are probably my favorites from the TFL Car library! Thanks for sharing guys!
Great video guys. I'm in a 2013 Wrangler Sport and just sold my SRT8 Challenger 2 weeks ago. The idea of breeding the two crossed my mind, but I'd never seen it done. Completely awesome! Now all the Jeep needs is a set of Flowmaster Super 10s for the growl it really deserves!
Hooray! A real Jeep review with proper tire pressure! You guys are great. Its so cool to see a brand new Subaru on the same trail I drive my Jeep, but even cooler to see a supercar jeep do the hardest obstacles there too. Thanks guys!
The 4.0 liter jeep motor (six in a row is the way to go) made over 200 ft lbs of torque. That multiplied by gears is more than enough for trail work. Where jeeps need power is on the highway, or in deep mud or sand. That is why they went to the new v6 better mileage and highway horsepower (not torque). Add a diesel torque to those places and you just have a heavy jeep. Aluminum V8's are much better in offroad vehicles due to their power to weight ratio. I love diesels, for towing!
We had a great time and we're happy you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching
Well done guys great video!
The G wagon is very capable. It comes with three locking diffs and live axles. Add a lift and bigger tires and it would hang with these wranglers. It is as capable as a stock Rubicon, but comes with a supercharged V8 (pretty sure could be turbo)
I love Jeeps, but just like all good off road capable rigs, they are built not bought.
can't wait to see the Hellcat engine in one of these
Basically your jeeps sexually identifies as a dodge
favorite comment ever
Well they'll all technically a Chrysler, which is a good thing
+Petite Penguin You mean Fiat 😁😁
Mike Hawk Fiat ownes Ferrari too so why you laughing?
Mike Hawk its actually called the fiat chrysler group
I have a question, how much are those rims? Someone can please tell me thank you!
Question. How much MPG does a 2018 wrangler get 6.4L hemi have?
Hey TFLCar, I live in the boulder area and i was just wondering what the name of the trail is? Thanks.
8:20 what a beautiful sound :)
Best vid yet!! I love my Jeep!
Why you show us the same frames again and again??!??!!?
0:16 and 1:56 and 4:45 ?!?!!?!
Very cool video!
Very cool Jeep!
is good to buy a wrangler rubicon if I'm a city man?? or should I go for a sahara? I just want one to custom. Thanks Guys
i did watch part 1. it only shows the engine when its fitted to frame, i would like to see the motor inside the engine bay. How much space is left in the engine bay?, how neat was everything? how did it fit?
Great video and love the music!
What are the rims and tires called and where can I find them?
What type of lights are the running on these Jeep rigs ?
Awesome video
brandonmoulton of Jeep Abuse sent me here... awesome video
What's that leaf blower sound in the background???
Do you know what headlights they're running on the 6.4L?
What kind of rims are one the black one?
I just dropped my jk off at mo tech to get a LT 6.2 with a & speed I’m so excited
Do you plan on putting dynatrac 60/80 axles under there to handle the power.
what trail did you guys went to?
Why does it seem like everybody runs Nitto tires? I've never had them so I'm legit curious. How do they compare to Mickey Thompsons?
what company are those fender flares>?
why put a hemi in it?? "well because its a hemi"
It's got a hemi in it, whaaaaaa?
Even a Jeep with a 4 cylinder is a blast to drive. I'd buy one of these if I had the cash
Where did you guys film this. The location is beautiful.
my 2010 3.8 jk does the same thing these do ...whats the deal?
Cool video
they gotta have a dry sump oil setup?
Do they do transplants on the short wheelbase wrangler
What are the name and model of those fenders?
Do any of these even have Dana 60s?
Hey you guys should come to Buena Vista CO. We have Carnage Canyon, Chinamans, Iron Chest etc. or Taylor Pass and don't forget the best hotsprings known to man.
whats the speed rating of those monster tires?
Id like to see video of the modifications and the build all i ever see is the finished jeep
what a road to go on i should post some but i would never get any views
I wonder if theirs a way to put something like the quadra lift suspension on this also, to take it from city driving to off road mode :)
What song was that at the beginning?
How Much Lift Is On Blackie's Rubicon? 4 Inch?
have you guys taken Grand Cherokee in this trail? if yes how did it do?
What trail is this??
Sick Jeeps! You guys could have aired down the tires at least a few PSI. Those things looked topped off. I only saw one clip with some flex.
Did you watch part 1?
should the automaker air down your tires for you...LOL
now I see what you guys mean by serious off roading. I def wouldn't bring any crossover up there... thanks for the vid!
is that left hand?
Have you guys reviewed MKZ yet? Can't find it among ur videos.
yay this was in colorado!!!i live in denver where did u guys go to test these monsters?
ground clearance?
What dirt road did you guys test on?
where do you guys go off road i live in colorado but i cant find any trails the at challenge my truck
What part of Colorado are you in? If you're near Colorado Springs, then there are plenty of trails off of Old Stagecoach Road. There's also Ram Off-road Park. There's also trails going up Mount Elbert.
Another fun video by you guys, and hi to tommy! Some feedback for the photographing, now you have new interns to do it, but I feel like they need more communication and/or directing? There are some moments one blocking another's view, for example, in 2:15, 2:26. Also, some shoots are weird, i.e. 7:05, the far view is too long, almost 15 seconds. Overall, this is a great video, as always. Thank you guys!
Where's part 3? It referred to in the video, but is nowhere to be found...
Nice video.
headlights are from speakers. LED,you can also get other LED headlights from truck-lite, its what I have on my JKU 2012,,super bright compared to the candles JEEP puts on OEM.
this will be the most greatest jeep 4x4 ever
Well that looks fun
Do you plan to do 0-60 test with one of these monsters?
all that time and money dumped into the armor and engine swap, and they leave the diffs open?
they had to steer that thing somehow...
Yes they do. But lockers are only used when needed. Not having them, on a rig THAT build is..... odd. That said, it may have had it but not engaged. I am not sure I would trust everything these guys say. ;)
not everyone is made of money these builds take a while for some
The JK has a BLD system like Toyota uses, it works slick. There was a vid where Rusty put his lifted open diff jku up against a Rubi, Rusty went every place the Rubi went.
O I see they changed the SRT cherokee to have the lift now. Thx
what is the name of those straight fender flares?
They look like the smittybilt SRC flares.
0-60 time?
What kind of wheel? size and tire size? and how high do you have to lift the height?
I think he said the green one had 37" tires on a 3.5" lift. you can fit most any normal tire size under a jeep with a 3-4" lift, just need to mod the side guards some to fit.
Traded in my '07 STi for a Jeep Wrangler yesterday. It's on order so I don't have it yet but shit... #NoRegrets
Can't wait :3
Dhime how is it so far
Love it!!! And don't have to pay an entry fee to hit the trails like I would the track! The adventure packed into these Jeeps is epic! The car was fun and I loved it but very situational unless you're willing to break all kinds of traffic laws. Both great vehicles with different types of fun attached. Wish I could have kept the subie but just wasn't doable, storage, insurance, maintenance... Still, no regrets trading it in. Really happy with my Wrangler.
Just to mention, the Wrangler far exceeded my off-road expectations. Right after it was broken in I hit a pretty nasty trail (novice wheeler) and it took it in strides making up for my lack of skill. If you're planning on one, get the skid plates and maybe some rock sliders lol. The Rubicon goodies, locking diffs and 4:1 transfer case just puts it on another level. Unneeded, but handy to have.
Where's part 3?
Yes Ford made Hemispherical engines. Used mainly in dragsters because of their size. I believe they are 514 CI. But don't quote me on that.
hey~~you two again
Can someone answer me this? What control arms is he talking about since the thing has 2 solid axles?
The JK actually does have front and rear control arms mounted to the solid axles. The difference is, it articulates axle movement on each side, and not individual wheel movement like on an independent suspension.
it's a four link suspension ,as in you have a upper and lower swing arms that locates the axle much like a leaf spring ,it still need's a track bar because the swing arms only control up and down and front to back movement.the perfect off road suspension that amc first put on the front end of the 1984 jeep cherokee and is still being used on the 2014 wrangler .
That jeep sounds like a t-rex
I still worry about blasting my JK to wash The motor will it harm
Jeep is working on a small v6 or i6 diesel motor its not going to be the cummings that would be BA but im sure it will be the same as the diesels there are going to put in the ram 1500s in the 2015 year model. and for the record you would prob get better mpgs with a v8 vs v6 with bigger tires youre moter isn't fighting as much.
you should do a zero to 60 for each to see how they stack up
were is part 3
Could u do a 2014 Chevrolet Colorado plz.
$80,000 with no lockers??? Did anyone see if it had D60s? What is the down travel on those 37s with 3.5" of lift?
badass shit man
The modern 3.7L V6 version gets only 14mpg or so, I am sure this gets single digit mileage. I would love to see a small displacement diesel in a Jeep. It would be fuel efficient, and have tons more low end torque which is a must in an offroad vehicle.
Chrysler doesn't make a 3.7... currently the V-6 lineup includes a 3.6 and a 3.2
Chrysler does make a 3.7, but it's not used in the JK Wrangler. The JK had the 3.8 from 2007-2011 and the Pentastar 3.6 from 2012-Present. There is a smaller displacement 3.2 version of the Pentastar, but it is not used in the JK.
what current production vehicles use a chrysler 3.7 then?
Kyle Coffey The last one I can think of was the Jeep Liberty which ended production after the 2012 model year. Dodge/Ram trucks also used it through the 2012 model year.
Wow that is bad. I just got back from a 1,700mile trip from Philadelphia to San Antonio, Texas in a stock 2011 3.8L soft-top wrangler. We got 20-22mpg with synthetic oil traveling 75-90mph the whole way. I-40 is pretty flat though. The biggest pain in the ass honestly, is stopping for gas every ~200miles. What a small tank. It's nothing like an F250. Tires were >40psi too for the highway mpgs.
Love my Jeep!!
Oh my damn at that 6.4 hemi
Is he simply mistaken, or is there really something under that orange JK that's worth 80-90K? I just don't see it. It looks damn near stock underneath except for the lift and shocks. You can't seriously tell me that somebody payed 40-50K on top of MSRP for a lift, tires, a hemi, and a horrible paint job. That's just criminal.
I fully understand why they did the engine swaps, but I've never had trouble keeping up with traffic in a 4 liter.
I kind of wanted to see a little cj-5 alongside these monsters
So the stock was 270 now it's 470hp that's good I don't think it's really needed especially considering weight difference
Why does the guy say it’s a 6.4 liter Hemi V8 and then you change it to 5.7 liter V8 ? What’s going on here ?
You guys should totally take a diesel rig up there. Would be very bad ass
can the gas tank door /flap on these things be locked ?
+Phen amenol There isn't a key thing if that's what you mean. It's just a cap anyway. There is no door, unless you add one.
k
Custom drive-train swaps are expensive. Add to that the cost of a new or close to new vehicle and you are at 60k in a hurry. Add suspension axles wheels and tires and you just dropped another 20k. These Jeeps are essentially donor bodies, almost everything else is new. Axles wheels suspension links and steering, drive shafts, motor, computer, radiator, ac, and most likely transmission as well all are new.
MOAR :D
@ 100K that G-Wagon could never even DREAM of keeping up with a decked out wrangler. Not now, not ever. These Jeeps you see here are fully set up with coil overs, locking diffs, beadlocks, and more power than you'll ever need off-road. No production G-Wagon could keep up with these Jeeps.
part 2 so much > part one
6.4 works with the same transmition...?
Ricardo Monroy, No.
God damn it I love wrangler unlimited's
best jeep ever
