I absolutely love what Nightdive is doing for this genre, preserving these brilliant games and making them available for today's players across platforms. And that Quake 2 remaster is so good! It rekindled my love for fps games
We still need Half-Life 1 on modern consoles...So we can play HL1 Deathmatch in 4 player Split screen... Or like in Quake's Case 8 player split screen :D
Thanks! Fun fact, I don't even have GamePass, rather I own all 5, but I figured it'd be a good way to promote and talk about these classics to people looking for what to play on GamePass.
Goldeneye might be hard to target 60fps. The engine basically draws characters on other rooms than you play as well, despite being off -screen. A bit too heavy engine for it's own good.
Yeah, they said the characters were doing funny things and it was breaking the game a lot so they abandoned it, the canceled remake and Perfect Dark used new engines that they transfered everything over to in order for them to run differently, so they are technically remakes to a degree.
It's so sad to me how there hasn't been a single player FPS to even come close to how good Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were. Not even Half Life 2. It's just the way how the missions are not about going from A to B while shooting guys and collecting health and ammo. Increasing the difficulty level doesn't just give the bad guys more health, it makes the missions more complex and opens up more content. And it's not just about completing the missions but completing them faster and faster to try to unlock cheats.
Doom 64 on the Xbox is much better than the original game on the 64. It has been patched and fixed since the original 64 game itself is way too dark and a big complaint to most people. I own the original doom 64 cartridge, and for me it’sunplayable. Many of the stages you literally can’t see anything even turning up the brightness on your TV doesn’t help. Horribly made game. If you’re new to this game, the Xbox version is excellent and the way the original should have been.
Actually Doom 64 is the real Doom 3, (the Doom 3 from 2004 was more of a reboot) according to id Software, Doom 64 ties together the first two Doom games to Doom 2016, however they could have just said that to help market Doom Eternal since that's when the remaster of Doom 64 came out
Yeah there's a lot of mixed messaging about it, even when you look it up now it's still declared a "spin-off" but I'm not a DOOM lore expert or anything so I'm not so sure about anything Lol
@@riftshredder5438 Yeah when looking into the exact enhanced features from Microsoft's Xbox web page they touted "Modern aspect ratio Native 16:9 aspect ratio with a consistent refresh rate." And I forgot the original does in fact have pretty much the same screen ratio options, so that seems to be fluff on their part, unless they actually adjusted it which I can't exactly tell.
I'm not really a fan of Nightdives version of Quake II 64. I had install some mods from the original version on the PC version. Little things like the blue railgun, the green BFG, I had green armor, the yellow crosshair, and the blue ammo and health icons. Some of the secret maps from the original version isn't there as well. That game is huge nostalgia for me because it was one of the games I got for Christmas in 1999. Hope they can put all that in an update.
Of course Quake is a PC port, I didn't say otherwise. Turok isn't on this list because they're not on GamePass, I want to include them in another episode simply about N64 games.
PC gaming is not for everyone. I liked to play on pc when i was younger but nowadays i work for 10h siting on a work chair in front of a PC, when i leave work i want distance form a pc monitor, there's nothing like a sofa that hugs you and a nice 55' oled tv

100% agree! I absolutely love what they do and they're in my top 5 developers right now 😀

Oh I want Half Life 1 on modern consoles so bad!
Valve in general should rerelease some of their old titles on console.
@@HaraldQuake yep, day one pick up for sure. It’s time for a HL Collection with 1, 2, episodes 1&2, and some of the best expansions
Best you can do is the Xbox 360 orange box, a great box set.
This is Incredible...Absolutely incredible I remember...These eras... 🙏
So many fond memories 😊
Goldeneye walked so Perfect Dark could run.
That's a fantastic way to put it!
Love this episode awesome man 😊
Thank you very much!
Nice video. Game pass is great for these classic games.

I personally love Perfect Dark more than Goldeneye :D
Me too, it's an amazing game.
@@RetroMediaRoom Also even some dislike Perfect Dark Zero i have a soft spot on it same goes for the FF 13 Trilogy :D yeah maybe i'm strange :D
I'm actually right there with you, I also appreciate those games 😀
Love it!! Great video! Awesome memories!
Thanks! Glad you're able to be a part of it, wonderful memories!
You forgot about Turok.
It's not on GamePass so I didn't forget about it, my plan is to do another episode of N64 games to include Turok if this one does well.
@@RetroMediaRoom oooh, on Game Pass, not just on Xbox
Yep, I'm pretty sure it was at some point but isn't anymore, I do want to talk about those classics though.
Nightdive didnt let me down with the Turok remasters... looking forward to see what the new Turok has to offer 🤞🏽😎🤞🏽
@@xboXDarkHunterXbox I'm looking forward to covering Turok in a future video 😀
The best version of Doom 64 is the homebrew version that they are making for Sega Dreamcast. It looks and plays amazing😍
I saw that 😄

Yeah it really was the golden era, I'll forever cherish it.
Im still hopeful we get an offical release of the XBLA remaster of Goldeneye now Nintendo and Microsoft are sleeping together, maybe for switch 2??
One can only hope 🙏
I still say these guy should re do Hexen 64 also for us have the whole Id 64 family
That would be SO COOL for Hexen to make a return 😃
It's nice being able to play all of perfect dark without a stupid expansion pack
Right!? Haha 😄
If that scenario were in 2025, scalpers would have bought up all the packs 🙄🙄🙄

Yeah it was pretty dark at times, certainly not an issue anymore, it's better than ever!
@@alwhitney-muskoka I play the original Doon 64 from time to time. There's a cheat code to turn the brightness up I've always used.

I have perfect dark zero physical copy
Sweet! One of the few Xbox 360 steelbooks I have 😀
15:07 it should run at 120FPS
Unfortunately it doesn't 😕
What about “Duke Nukem 3D”?
Duke Nukem 64 never left the N64 so I don't know what you're asking.
Quake is a pc Port, i played quake 64 back in the day on my 64, the list should have turok 1,2, and 3

The list wouldn't be correct with Turok. Learn to read and listen before commenting.
Huge letdown they didn't include online matchmaking in the GoldenEye port. And its a bummer the online matchmaking in pd xbla is completely dead.
Yeah it's unfortunate.
You forgot turok bro
They're not on GamePass so they wouldn't have been appropriate for this episode, I do plan on covering them later though.
You posted your lack of listening and reading comprehension. Turok isn't on Game Pass.
@nathanchambers985 okay incel
Wow thanks for the tips now can I buy the games thx u !!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
No problem! 😀
@ u have right the James 007 N64 game is little bit buggy but now can I grind for more achievements ur e content is the best 👍

Who needs an Xbox when you have a pc lmao
Some do, some don't, depends on what you want. Also the majority of gamers play on consoles.
