PLEASE READ: Below are corrections regarding Enchanted Arms and Battlefield Bad Company, also clarifying what I mean by the image qualities being enhanced for all the games. I'm genuinely sorry for anything I ever mess up and get wrong, I'm 100% a one man show so anything and everything is done by myself alone, including research and fact checking. CORRECTION: I was wrong in the video about Miyazaki directing Enchanted Arms, because there’s a second director named Miyazaki that’s also made games at From Software! So when I say the game's image quality is generally improved, that is going to pretty much always be the case with these games running on new Xbox hardware, it's just a matter of how MUCH they're improved. Sounds like nonsense, but I hope I explained it well because it's funky technical jargon. Update: I now believe that Mortal Kombat isn't so much crashing as it is just taking way too long to auto save and load, I noted it in the video but just give it a minute and it should be fine when that happens.
I appreciate you making corrections because I was flipping out when you said Bad Company was the first Battlefield game on consoles. Also, not every game gets upgraded to 4k in the backwards compatible mode on Xbox One X or Series X. That has to be enabled per game, and most games aren't upgraded that way. It's only the original Xbox games that all have a resolution upgrade. But those aren't all the way up to 4k.
@Nazraq04 Yes natively they're not upgraded to 4K like the OG Xbox games, but the display resolution is up to 4K which does make a difference, so the image quality output is beyond what the 360 is capable of, that's all I'm ever referring to unless otherwise noted, like Fallout 3 with it's Xbox One X patch that natively upgraded it's visuals. I'm really annoyed that Wikipedia and Google gave me that false info, because I don't own and wasn't looking into Battlefield 2 Modern Combat so it tripped me up!
I was about to say cuz I was going to correct you and say that you're wrong when you said that because battlefield 2 modern combat came out first in 2005 over here in North America USA and Canada in 2005 of course since you already know that now for PS2 and original Xbox at the time it was only for those two consoles before a special made one for Xbox 360 a year later in 2006

Love the type of coverage being done! As someone who skipped xbox all the way and only got a series x, its lame when people say just play on pc. But pc is headache for some things like controller support. Having said this, bad company and arkham origins are better played on pc

They should double down on backwards compatibility. Also most of the current titles still running at 720p so it would be nice for us to have the option of 4k. No excuses. They own so many publishers.
Another game is Skate 2. There is a store page for the game, but you can't buy it. The only way to play it on Xbox One/Series X is either by disc or finding someone who owns the digital copy on their 360 account and game sharing it, otherwise disc only.
Yep that's correct, Google/Wikipedia betrayed me on this one, they literally say the same thing for both Battlefield 2 Modern Combat on PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 as being the first console exclusive of the series (correct) and Bad Company being the first (incorrect) rather Bad Company is the 2nd Battlefield console game with a single player. I never played Modern Combat originally so I was relying solely on what I read, my bad. I updated my correction comment.
Wow what a deep dive, I never even heard of Enchanted Arms before and it's a From Software game. I feel like looking up there catalog pre Demon Souls, cause for some time I always thought they were a relatively new studio but they been around for ages
Absolutely, they go as far back as Kings Field and Armored Core on the PS1. Mind my correction about the director of Enchanted Arms, that was a different Miyazaki from the one famous for Darks Souls, From Software nonetheless.
The reason that MK9 got delisted from digital stores was because of licensing [Mainly that license to Freddy Krueger expired and the rights reverted back to the Wes Craven Estate] I don't understand why Batman Arkham Origins is delisted from digital stores [along with the DLC], but it's backward compatible. Another game that's backward compatible but delisted from digital stores because of licensing was 50 Cent Blood on the Sand [I bought it on Black Friday 2015 when Gamestop did the Buy2Get1Free special & that was the game I got for free].
I was so happy when we got compatibility for FEAR and the Max Payne titles. I don't currently have a good setup for playing PC games, so I've been playing these console ports mostly these days. Especially for FEAR and Max Payne, wich I play every year around christmas. While I did have physical copies of these games from before, a couple others I had to track down, like The Orange Box and Morrowind. Morrowind was especially nice since on Series X it's been enhanced with 4K resolution, 60fps, and best of all: regardless if you have the standard edition or the GOTY edition, when you put the disc in, the Xbox will download the GOTY edition with both expansions. (Though keep in mind, that on save files with over 150 to 200 hours of playtime, the game will sometimes crash when entering or exiting buildings)
That's awesome! I game on consoles exclusively as well because I also don't have a good PC setup for games, PC players never understand that, they just yell at the clouds "PC is better!!" as a gotcha, as if we don't already know 😅
When I got my Xbox Series X, I took Arkham Origins out of my Xbox One, placed it inside of my Xbox Series X, and never moved it again. It's the only disc to ever touch my disc drive.
I never owned bad company in the 360 days, I bought it digitally and played it through backwards compatibility during Covid, I actually bought 1&2. They worked great digitally. Wonder when bad company got pulled digitally.

Something Many People Did Not Know About Next Gen Xbox One And Series X Is You Can Actually Play Imported Backwards Compatible 360 Games From ANY Region Some Of Theses Include: SaintsRow (North American) SaintsRow DE (German) SaintsRow (Japan) Gears Of War (North American) Gears Of War (Japan) Bully (North American) Bully (Japan) The Reason I Mention Theses Is They All Have Separate Achievement Lists And Can Be Stacked Just Keep In Mind It Only Works With 360 Xbox Games And They Must Be Backwards Compatible In There Region
Always a Great Topic and Thank you that you cover it!! Looking forward to more Parts of that Format!! :) Also Arkham Origins is much better than Arkham Origins Blackgate which also exist but i think this isn't backwards compatible.
Are the prices of 360 discs still crazy? I wanted to play The Simpsons game, but it was $100 or more last time I checked. I could buy an old console & RGH it for that price.
Depends where you look also, if you find some local market stalls, garage/carboot sales or random places that might be out of the loop of the online market you can get amazing deals. Even Facebook marketplace has some good deals occasionally, but most official retro stores and Ebay would be a higher price still, since "retro" gaming is pretty profitable now, but yeah it depends what you're after cause a lot of games are still pretty cheap in most places. I have The Simpsons Game, and Family Guy Back To The Multiverse which I got like a decade ago, glad I did cause the prices of them now has sky rocketed.
You're very welcome, I still find myself tripping on bits of info sometimes and I always do my best to correct the record and be as accurate and honest as possible.
I bought the new XSX 2TB Galaxy Edition. So I can play my original Xbox, 360 and XB1 games. DVD, Blu-ray and 4k disc's. Hate on XBOX all you want but the PlayStation and switch can't do that. XSX is such an underrated console.
I bet the backwards compatibility is superb on the 360 (original og xbox titles) but im so excited for the series x/s to continue getting more titles to play from older Xbox consoles like the xbox360 and the Og console. I'll get my X one day and play all the titles i can 😅
To be honest BC on the 360 is very hit or miss, many titles have new bugs and play worse than original hardware so it's not NEARLY as good as Series X.

When he forgets about BF2:MC 😭😭 dude this was one of the biggest multiplayer shooters on the OG Xbox, the 360 port was also really popular too. Also this game was not available for sale digitally too and is disc only backwards compatible. Also fun fact if you put the OG Xbox version of this game in a Series X, the console will download the 360 version.

@@RetroMediaRoom the 360 era was the most iconic era to me cause i had moved to miami and could afford all the newest games. so this video felt good to watch
I would say that 80% of the games I play on my Series X are backwards compatible OG Xbox and and 360 titles haha. Many are fps boosted and have HDR support (like Oblivion). It just shows the sad state of modern "AAA" gaming when I get more enjoyment out of playing 20 year old games.
@ it’s very unfortunate! I didn’t know the new ones still have the destructible environments! I still think red faction did it the best of all the games I played
That's odd, it just checks the disc for the license and then downloads the game, have your discs been coasters or is your disc drive also having a hard time reading Xbox One and Series X games?
I have MK Komplete edition and Arkham Origins. Komplete edition comes with everything included and both game load and play without any problem on my Series X. Maybe be you have faulty disc reader or something because I never had problems with my system crashing
It only uses the disc to enable the download so the disc drive wouldn't be a suspect, you never know about these random bugs, I just mentioned it in case others noticed it getting stuck during loading times and freezing up.
I don't doubt it, I've seen some people like the second one more but not very many and hardly anyone likes 3 better, it's a great way to play the first one other than PC.
I'm pretty sure Left 4 Dead 2 also falls into this category even though the online is still active. It's hard to find a reasonably-priced copy too. I think this is also true in general for all Valve games on 360 but I may be wrong about that.
Actually all 360 games do not upscale/render in 4k on series x. Certain games got patched via the emulator to upscale to 4k but there are tons that don't. Also the reason why games with dlc disc's don't work properly are because they have separate Media ID's and Title IDs as they are seen as separate games/units from the original versions. Hence why there are no GOTY or complete editions for any games on the Xbox store. Those editions were sold physically only.
Check the pinned comment for my clarification on the upscaling because I didn't claim it's natively rendering differently. In regards to GOTY editions working for DLC try telling that to the several people here in the comments that say it is working for Mortal Kombat, I can't test it first hand so I don't know 100% for that exact title. There ARE games that I know do work to verify DLC for games off the disc for backwards compatibility, particularly when they have a DLC second install disc where you solely install with that and it gives you the full game plus all the content, whereas disc one will only install the vanilla version (particularly Bethesda games) so it does happen.
It does a basic display upscale to 4K, but it depends on the title for anything natively 4K such as OG Xbox games most if not all of which are natively upscaled to 4K. Fallout 3 is one of the few 360 examples of a native change to the visuals through an older Xbox One X patch that updated the game's native graphics, while New Vegas is still natively 720p yet displayed up to 4K unless running in 60fps with the frame rate boost mode which runs at 1080p.
Deadpool is a funny one because I have the Xbox One version digitally which should supercede the 360 version. Spiderman 2 is an OG Xbox game which isn't within the purview of the video AND it's not backwards compatible in the first place...
5:10 Battlefield: Bad Company Was Not The First Game Put Out By Dice On Consoles... That Honor Goes To Battlefield 2: Modern Combat They Wanted To Test How Battlefield Would Experience On Consoles Back In 2006 So They Made An Exclusive Console Only Spinoff And Useually Focusing On Campaign First This Game Opted To Focus On Multiplayer First And Foremost... The Game Was Sadly Delisted And Servers Shut Down In 2011 However You Can Experience What Once Was By Playing The Campaign On Xbox One And Series X Thanks To Backwards Compatibility Theres Even A Ranking System In Campaign And Unlike Other Battlefields Theres No "Main Character" You Can Hot Swap Between Squad Mates And Pick A Position In An Instant Its Unlike Any Other First Person Shooter And Was Pretty Innovative For The Time
I honestly got rid of my Series X a few months back. Cause I mostly played 360, One and regular Xbox games on it. And still have those older systems. But before selling it off. I did play through all F.E.A.R. games in order. It was a lot of fun. But took forever playing throigh them all 😅
I'd LOVE to see more retro titles from all their past eras on PS5, they need to do more and stop calling it "good enough" to just throw them onto their lackluster PS Plus streaming service.

Well, the fact that I'm seeing people claim that Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition both works AND doesn't work at providing the DLC worries me, so which is it? 😂
Actually yes these are all backwards compatible on any Xbox One, the Series X is simply the best at it with some exclusive features such as FPS boost when applicable.
Hi mate. Only original Xbox games upscale automatically on series X. For 360 games it adds X 16 filtering to most games but it won’t upscale past it’s initial resolution unless it was patched later to do so.
True, that's why I specifically said 4K display resolution, so correct it's not a native upgrade like they've done with OG Xbox games which look REALLY clean. A clear example of a 360 game that DID get a native upgrade was Fallout 3 with it's Xbox One X patch, but, all games are still displayed in 4K with loading and performance usually being the most noticeable factors being better, particularly with unlocked framerates.
Origins is a fantastic game much better than asylum play it every year at Christmas on another note the batmobile makes knight unplayable so in my opinion the worst of them all

Yep, I wish I would have bought it that when I had the chance.
still waiting for more Xbox 360 games for backwards compatible?
Absolutely 🙏
FEAR is still great. I'm playing it now on Xbox 360
Oh man you'll love it in 60fps if you ever get the chance to play your copy on an Xbox Series X.
Thanks for creating this helpful video!
You're welcome 😊
They should double down on backwards compatibility. Also most of the current titles still running at 720p so it would be nice for us to have the option of 4k. No excuses. They own so many publishers.
Yeah most of the time we just get excuses and corporate speak, they can do more across the board.
Another game is Skate 2. There is a store page for the game, but you can't buy it. The only way to play it on Xbox One/Series X is either by disc or finding someone who owns the digital copy on their 360 account and game sharing it, otherwise disc only.
Yep that's another good example and how all these games are.
First Battlefield for consoles was Battlefield 2: Modern Combat in 2005
Yep that's correct, Google/Wikipedia betrayed me on this one, they literally say the same thing for both Battlefield 2 Modern Combat on PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 as being the first console exclusive of the series (correct) and Bad Company being the first (incorrect) rather Bad Company is the 2nd Battlefield console game with a single player. I never played Modern Combat originally so I was relying solely on what I read, my bad. I updated my correction comment.
@@RetroMediaRoom modern combat wasn't that good, impressive for the time but it wasn't battlfield not even remotely
The reason that MK9 got delisted from digital stores was because of licensing [Mainly that license to Freddy Krueger expired and the rights reverted back to the Wes Craven Estate]
I don't understand why Batman Arkham Origins is delisted from digital stores [along with the DLC], but it's backward compatible.
Morrowind was especially nice since on Series X it's been enhanced with 4K resolution, 60fps,
and best of all: regardless if you have the standard edition or the GOTY edition, when you put the disc in, the Xbox will download the
GOTY edition with both expansions.
(Though keep in mind, that on save files with over 150 to 200 hours of playtime, the game will sometimes crash when entering
or exiting buildings)
That's awesome! I game on consoles exclusively as well because I also don't have a good PC setup for games, PC players never understand that, they just yell at the clouds "PC is better!!" as a gotcha, as if we don't already know 😅
If Xbox had the same ideology like the 360 era. i would have one.
Well at this point hardly anyone does to be honest.
You missed an experience that’s still hasn’t been replicated Bad Company 2 multiplayer was epic
@ I played bad company in the 360 days, I owned bad company 2, the multiplayer was gold. I miss the 360 daysI played bad company in the 360 days, I owned bad company 2, the multiplayer was gold. I miss the 360 days

Something Many People Did Not Know About Next Gen Xbox One And Series X Is You Can Actually Play Imported Backwards Compatible 360 Games From ANY Region
Some Of Theses Include:
SaintsRow (North American)
SaintsRow DE (German)
SaintsRow (Japan)
Gears Of War (North American)
Gears Of War (Japan)
Bully (North American)
Bully (Japan)
The Reason I Mention Theses Is They All Have Separate Achievement Lists And Can Be Stacked
Just Keep In Mind It Only Works With 360 Xbox Games And They Must Be Backwards Compatible In There Region
That's actually very interesting and could be beneficial for collectors having a hard time finding NA copies 😀
Always a Great Topic and Thank you that you cover it!! Looking forward to more Parts of that Format!! :) Also Arkham Origins is much better than Arkham Origins Blackgate which also exist but i think this isn't backwards compatible.
Absolutely, that's why I've already labeled it episode 1, more to come 😁
i don't know when is the backwards compatible update for the Xbox Series X?
Nobody knows at this point.
Are the prices of 360 discs still crazy? I wanted to play The Simpsons game, but it was $100 or more last time I checked. I could buy an old console & RGH it for that price.
It all depends on what you're trying to get, in general they're not the worst give or take some rare titles, for now.
I have a good amount of titles I am going to sell. Most are good games. No sports. Let me know if you are interested.
I appreciate how you always teach me something new all of the time I thank you for it
You're very welcome, I still find myself tripping on bits of info sometimes and I always do my best to correct the record and be as accurate and honest as possible.
I bought the new XSX 2TB Galaxy Edition. So I can play my original Xbox, 360 and XB1 games. DVD, Blu-ray and 4k disc's. Hate on XBOX all you want but the PlayStation and switch can't do that. XSX is such an underrated console.
Absolutely! It's my #1 modern console, so much bang for your buck!
Xbox has no games. Cry harder fanboy
@@RetroMediaRoom PS5 and Switch are objectively better. Cope harder xbot
"XSX is such an overrated POS console"
Fixed
Lol you can only play about 50 original xbox and 500 xbox 360 games through backwards compatibility
Looking forward to other episodes.
Thanks! They're in the works 😀
I'd preffer if we had 'physical only' games rather than digital only
Same
I bet the backwards compatibility is superb on the 360 (original og xbox titles) but im so excited for the series x/s to continue getting more titles to play from older Xbox consoles like the xbox360 and the Og console. I'll get my X one day and play all the titles i can 😅
To be honest BC on the 360 is very hit or miss, many titles have new bugs and play worse than original hardware so it's not NEARLY as good as Series X.
Love your video!!!!
Thank you! 😀
Wait so ma boi Arthur is Batman? That's awesome. I'm actually about to boot AO back up for Christmas. Also cool intro song

There was indeed issues with komplete edition but thankfully the dlc does work with disc
It's unfortunate that everything is delisted but for those of us that originally purchased them at least we still have that content.
Wild. I am playing Battlefield Bad Company on PS3 right now.
Sweet! 😀
Left 4 dead, but was shocked to see enchanted arms mentioned
Oh this is only Episode 1, more to come 😀
@@RetroMediaRoom thank you for the heart
The worst thing you can subject yourself to is playing the PS3 version of FEAR over PlayStation's streaming service. Ultra low fps and ultra high lag 💀
EXACTLY! Yet some people cope and act like that's good enough for classic console titles, it is NOT a singular solution to making classic titles available, Sony needs to pull their heads out.
Who do you think would win in a fight, one of those rusky tanks or TruckosaurasRex?
I'd guess TruckosaurasRex 😅
The correct answer is the golf cart
@michaelschoen9777 🤣
Just 5 discs? Wow. I did boot up MK9: Komplete Edition on the One-X. I was stuck with the vanilla mode and it refused to let me access DLC. I already owned a lot of DLC on my old account. I'm determined to see if I can access it yet.
Thanks for confirming that info! I want to do more episodes of these disc only games on Xbox, more to come!
@RetroMediaRoom Thank you for addressing it. I thought it may have been an isolated issue for me. Keep up the good work, sir. Sky is the limit for you.
Thank you! If you own the DLC online already you should be able to access them through your data management of the game and install them on your Xbox Series X.
I have the Komplete Edition disc and it allows access to everything. Hope that helps.
@seudoquia3558 So you did not purchase the DLC whatsoever outside of the physical Komplete Edition and you have access to those characters?

It's been my #1 console this generation 👏
I have mortal Kombat komplete edition it works normally, all dlc's characters and costumes,no problems with crash but I think it has a slight input delay, still my favorite mk!
I've noticed a pattern of people not noticing it getting stuck like I did, maybe I'll try running it off of another data source, it's currently on my expansion card which should be identical to the internal.
This is what makes xbox series x my go to play current console. Games these days are not for me. I bounce between ninja gaiden black/2, altered beast arcade, sonic 3@knuckles(og got delisted, good thing i have it), king kong and tons more!
Oooohh King Kong is going to be on another episode in the future, I have a copy 😁
I remember Ninja Gaiden 2 being the main reason I rebought a 360 😂
I wish they would only check for the disk once every week. Would make it easier to jump arounh
Yeah that would be more flexible
There is also the two Left4Dead and Battlefield 2 Modern Combat
Yep, I've got all sorts planned for future disc only episodes so more to come 😀
I feel like a Part 2 to this video could comprise of entirely Valve games since they're all delisted now, which is a shame.
Absolutely, I'm just getting started 😁
im glad I got the orange box back in 2020 when I got my scorpio/ one x
Same here!
Bad company and arkham origins are backwards compatible!!??
@@madspyker85 They sure are! I actually totally forgot about Arkham Origins until researching for the video.
@RetroMediaRoom I was looking at getting these two as well as I'm slowly collecting 360 games so this is definitely a bonus

@@RetroMediaRoom the 360 era was the most iconic era to me cause i had moved to miami and could afford all the newest games. so this video felt good to watch
@@SimianScience That makes me so happy that you enjoyed, even with my mistakes 😅
Yeah that is true and why I focus on older games with my channel.
can i play project gotham racing(any of them) on series x using a disc?
Nothing I'm able to find online, so I don't think any of them are compatible.
Why haven’t we gotten more destructible environments since bad company or red faction? Seems like they abandoned the idea
It does doesn't it?
@ imagine what they could do with the power of a modern console!
@@adamspencer6666 Absolutely, they just treat it like an abandoned gimmick nowadays other than a few games like the newer Battlefields.
@ it’s very unfortunate! I didn’t know the new ones still have the destructible environments! I still think red faction did it the best of all the games I played
My series x isn’t playing most of my 360 back compat discs.. it hurts me deeply.. 🤦🏿♂️
That's odd, it just checks the disc for the license and then downloads the game, have your discs been coasters or is your disc drive also having a hard time reading Xbox One and Series X games?
@ no issue with xb1 or xbs games.. I’m gonna try to find a cd lens cleaner .. maybe my laser is a bit dirty 🤷🏿♂️
You never know, worth a shot.
FEAR is a fucking masterpiece and the best game of the trilogy by far.
Yep I'll be researching and testing everything for this, there's going to be a Valve centric video in the near future for sure 👍
There gold in dem Hills!!!
"And gold in them thar floors too!" (Three Stooges) 😂
You're cognitive dissonance is off the charts. You can't read or listen properly. Your comment is midwit supreme.
Pure (a pretty great racing game inspired by Motorstorm) is disk only
I'll look into it for another episode 👍
What about (Prince Of Persia 2008) ?
I don't know, haven't looked at it much, could be in a future video, anything is possible.
Will it upscale graphics too ??😢
It does a basic display upscale to 4K, but it depends on the title for anything natively 4K such as OG Xbox games most if not all of which are natively upscaled to 4K. Fallout 3 is one of the few 360 examples of a native change to the visuals through an older Xbox One X patch that updated the game's native graphics, while New Vegas is still natively 720p yet displayed up to 4K unless running in 60fps with the frame rate boost mode which runs at 1080p.
i really want to play more Xbox 360 games on Xbox Series X so bad?
Me too! I hope they add more 🙏
Dose the batman arkham origins have dlc
It does but none of it is available if you didn't originally purchase it 😣
Xbox 360 👍👌💪
The good ol' days 😌
Lord of the rings Lego and the orange box collection as well
Absolutely, both of which I have for another episode 😀
Missing Deadpool and Spiderman 2.
Deadpool is a funny one because I have the Xbox One version digitally which should supercede the 360 version. Spiderman 2 is an OG Xbox game which isn't within the purview of the video AND it's not backwards compatible in the first place...
Thank you

Oh yes it's already on the back burner 😁
I wanna throw this out there, the Orange Box on the Series X is no different from the 360 version.
@@josephhinojosa4715 Incorrect, it was given a 4K resolution enhancement through an Xbox One X patch years ago, it looks substantially improved.

Actually yes these are all backwards compatible on any Xbox One, the Series X is simply the best at it with some exclusive features such as FPS boost when applicable.
Battlefield 3 is now delisted unfortunately
Well that just adds it to the list of games for future episodes then 👍
Wannabe tech geeks are the worst. You're not correcting anything. Your comprehension skills are the issue.
