I was at work when one coworker told another that the new movie in the franchise was out and it was called "Aliens" . The person he told went slightly pale and shock face, stating " You mean there is more than ONE ????!!!" . That about captures it :)
Does Aliens top Alien? That might be an unfair question. Alien is a horror film, while Aliens is an action film. Perhaps they are both equally perfect within their genres.
Remarkable movie. The audience went wild in the movie theater when Ripley walks out for the final battle. It was an incredible experience to have. Where is Sigourney Weaver‘s Oscar? This is my favorite of the franchise. The entire cast was incredible.
@ Me too and have often used that line after losing a basketball game or a very hard day at work,it always gets a laugh or a chuckle. They mostly come out at night, mostly.
Went out to the movies after a nice dinner. The movie we wanted to see was sold-out. Aliens still had seats. We all agreed lets do it. The only seats left was 3 rows from front of screen. We got 3rd row seats for five. After the movie began & layed its foundation & then picked up speed generated from a genuine interest, the whole theater went silent for nearly two hours. I never let go of the armchair. Entire audience was in the movie fighting & escaping Aliens! The intensity was through the roof. It became a roller coaster thanks to the movie score. When the film was over, people were trying to catch their breath & seek calmness. We were wired! Best actor is impossible to single out but Michael Biehn came through for me. Hey, all we need is a deck of cards? LOL Thanks for this review. Well done
Aliens is the BEST! Acting, script, tensions and human elements to name but a few- I watch it periodically and discover hidden nuances popping up every time. Bravi Tutti!
Aliens has always been my favorite movie! My son even named his little dog Ripley. Ellen Ripley and Hudson stole the show. However, my last name was Hicks. My dad saw the character Hicks was sleeping during the drop scene and declared. “That man is definitely a Hicks!” The Hicks family can sleep through anything. 😎
"Alien" is my favorite, because I feel like it truly captures the feeling of the loneliness of space. "Aliens" doesn't capture that, but "Aliens" has some really great action. It deserves respect.
Watch it over and over again until the tape got stuck and couldn't eject.. . but its ok, its Aliens movie, if its other xxx movie, i would panic.. xdxd
_Aliens_ is my favourite movie. It feels like it's missing a few things at times, but somehow the extra scenes managed to fill it all in for me. It's gone from being a movie to being a story, and I love it. "They mostly come at night. Mostly." "Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before. And they're gonna come in here and they're gonna come in here _and they're gonna get us_!" "I say we take off, nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." "I like to keep this handy. For close encounters." "What the hell are we supposed to use, man, harsh language?" "It's a bug hunt." "Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?" "No. Have you?"
I adore Aliens. I was 9 when I saw Alien (it was new, i’m now 53) and it was great but Aliens just hit me at the perfect time, when I was old enough to understand it. It was 2024 when Adam Savage broke the illusion of the autoloader- all these years I never questioned it. That’s movie magic defined.
Yeup...This movie, along with "Terminator 2", "Empire Strikes Back", & "Godfather 2" are sequels that are (arguably) on par, if not better, than the originals.
Apples & oranges. While I enjoyed both films, Alien was a stand-alone thriller with a great storyline w/ cool twists, while Aliens was a summer blockbuster w/ action heroes.
Cameron and Herd knocked it out of the park. They said it was like a war, making the film, but worth it. Brilliant casting. "Hey....let's put her in charge"! Paxton was great. I like to watch that film once a year and it still delivers.
Aliens will always mean a lot to me. It was a film I knew nothing about and also the last film I ever saw at the cinema with my brothers. I had seen Alien but had not seen any clips or adverts about Aliens and on the spare of the moment my brothers said do you want to go to the cinema to watch Aliens. I was expecting much the same as Alien. How strong could I have been. Aliens literally had me out of my seat with excitement. Great memories. Great film and a great time with my brothers.
Nice to see the 2nd part uploaded - thank-you for all the time spent researching and creating, and for being persistent with TH-cam! Bookmarked to watch later (LOVED part 1). (* EDIT *) Just finished watching - Great job. looking forward to your "A3" segment in the next upload (my fave of the bunch - if we're talking about the Directors cut anyways).
We really appreciate the comment. We really wanted to release this all as one long feature, but TH-cam wouldn't let it go out as is. Thank you for spending the time to watch all 3 parts!
Abso-bloody-lutely! That completely put me off that film right from the start, anything else that came after was pointless. After all Ripley did to save the pair of them, it turns out she needn't have bothered, Alien 3 should never have been green-lighted with that set-up, in my opinion that doomed it to many of the fans of the first 2 movies.
Aliens is not only my favorite Alien movie, but one of my selective best sci Fi action movies of all time . This movie is part of my teenage pop culture favorites.
Must admit as a reptile lover, when the queen alien hisses at ripley near her eggs, for some weird reason I find her cute with her little spicy hiss back
That picture you have for Mark Rolston is not the Mark Rolston who starred in Aliens. The picture you have up at 15:14 is a "designer, design leader. former CCO of frogdesign, founder and former CCO/CEO of argodesign."
For me, Alien is the better movie, for the mood, the tension, the characters, and the unexpected ending. Aliens feels lighter, definitely not as scary, but entertaining and also with a great ending. Two different directors with different styles and different products, both great, but whereas I'll watch Aliens after a long day to decompress and have fun with Cameron's entertaining storytelling, I'll watch Alien when I want to be challenged and awestruck by a groundbreaking film and admire Ridley honing his artistic craft and taking bold risks at the start of his career. (I even appreciate parts of Fincher's Alien³. It's not as bad as some people say it is. Now, Alien Resurrection, that was complete garbage, and Ridley's two prequels are different stories and films, that I try to keep away from the original Alien trilogy.)
I love both Alien and Aliens. I love the universe they are set in, and I love the character of Ripley. These were some of the best movies of their time ans set a very high bar going forward.
Hard to pick a favorite between Alien and Aliens. They are very different movies. But, clearly, they are far and away the best of all the Alien movies.
Tbh Aliens imo is one of the most undistributed Action Movie film of all time alongside Predator/2 and Terminator1/2JD. NOT to mention Starship Troopers and Star Wars. Classics.
Finally decided.... it's apples and oranges. Both movies are classics in their own right. Horror, design, originality - Alien. Action, plot, character development, dialogue - AlienS. They're both great, but I've watched AlienS dozens of times more.
Aliens was awesome, Definitely near the top of sequel lists alongside Godfather II, or The Empire Strikes Back. But for pure imagination, for that feeling of sitting in the theater totally scared, the original is still the best.
Aliens 2 is my favorite. The Marines were like real marines - including a veteran with his comment, and the Americanism included. I like the scene where one Marine said, "Sir, is this going to be stand-up fight, Sir, or just another bug-hunt." That is realism. And of course, the shake-and-bake colony remark of that yuppie character. Sigourney Weaver did a tremendous job here and really stands out. I like that.
The picture used for Mark Rolston at 15:15 ...is not the actor Mark Rolston. Other than being White, the guy looks nothing like him. It's some random tech product designer with the same name from a company called Argodesign. Since this picture was no where near the top of the google image search, I'm wondering if it's just a mistake made by the AI that was used to compile the video.
I wouldn't even know where to begin with my favorite parts of the movie!? Haha! Tough call between my favorite in the Franchise... The director's cut of both Alien & Aliens are too close to call. That said, I'll lean towards Aliens. ...Mostly. 😏 Really hope they do A LOT more with Alien vs Predator!!! Definitely prefer the director's cut & yet my least favorite aspect of the director's cut was that they didn't include Ripley giving Burke a grenade after he had been impregnated. Bought 3 shirts from you all after watching this vid!!! 🤪
Aliens has more loved lines in that movie than any other movie in the history of movies. There's over a thousand memorable lines in that movie literally. Ones that you're not even thinking about that are memorable like a vasquez has anybody ever mistaken you for a man? No have you? 😂 Aliens is pop culture lines Gold!
My take on it? A worthy sequel to the superb original. I think one of it's key strengths is that James Cameron didn't repeat what Ridley had so successfully done on the original, he took it in a new, logical and exciting direction. Very clever, a lot of script writers, film makers and directors could learn from this and save us poor movie goers from having their dreams and expectations continulally shattered by poorly conceived cash-ins of great original material. Also, being a Brit, I am appalled at how the crew treated Cameron during the making of this film, I hope they felt suitably ashamed when the film turned out to be so great (and yes, I do like my tea!).
Alien is a horror movie. Aliens is an action movie. In Alien there is a lot of very frightening stalking in dark corridors. It is even a relief when the alien actually kills someone as briefly don't have to worry about being stalked. I wonder whether there was ever a deliberate decision to go this route or just how the scripts were written? Presumably an action movie has greater commercial prospects because of the wider potential audience.
I remember watching Aliens at the Egyptian movie theatre in Hollywood when newly released in 1986.Such an exhilerating experience on the big screen.Action packed of course. Also saw Alien on the big screen when newly released in 1979.That was truly impactful and groundbreaking for the time.Alien 3 on the big screen in 1992 looked looked underwhelming but has aged well.Alien ressurection in 1997 was reasonable again on the big screen but the spark was dimming and saved only by Sigourney Weavers character Ripley. The series should have ended then as Prometheus and everything beyond that have been dull, uninspiring, and forgettable.Ripley was key to the process of engagement and any continuity.
How could the writer do such extensive research and then get the name wrong 🤦♂️ He also said the crew thought a "remake" should be done by Ridley Scott, yet the very next shot shows Sigourney saying a "sequel" should be done etc
One of the things I think helped the franchise is changing the genre of the releases. From Scifi horror to action to film noir to almost comedy. If it stayed the same genre it would have become a bit dull, "Oh another Alien movies ... 'yawn'.
Not at all. I knew it was the wrong person as soon as I saw it. His name is Mark Rolston, it's just not the Aliens actor Mark Rolston. A huge mistake when making an Alien documentary.
Watching this on TV right now Just at the part where Hicks edges the roof lid up.. Can't not watch this movie even if I'm up early if its on TV. Even though I got it on DVD and Blu Ray ❤ Something from being a 11 year old and watching this at late night TV showings after watching the Trilogy on VhS for the first time aged 8... Fuckin love this movie 🎬
Thank you for the video about Aliens. It is true most sequels. Don't do well at all. Aliens one movie that shown everyone. Sequels can be as good as the first movie. Alien made a name for Ridley Scott. James Cameron was made big by Aliens and The Terminator. Sigourney Weaver is great as Ellen Ripley. Bill Paxton and other cast members. Were good too.I love the movie Aliens.
'Alien' is one of the best horror films ever made - although having the best creature design, I've never liked the editing. 'Aliens' is one of the most fun movies to watch, in any genre. 'Alien Resurrection' is just entertaining, at best, but it is entertaining. But, 'Alien 3' [Assembly cut] is my favorite of the series - a dynamic storyline, and a powerful performance by Charles S. Dutton.
Great doc! Nicely done. You held my attention locked for nearly 40 minutes! Opinion: Aliens, (which I loved), was only a fun story because of very clever scripting which flawlessly inserted a variety of artificial limits on what the universe's apex predator, (Humans), were allowed to know, do and the equipment they could take with them. I remember having a debate with a dude on Quora, where I stated that, "Aliens aren't nearly as terrible a monster as people believe." By the end of the debate, we both learned a bunch of things. My claim that corporate science and military power could have easily outmatched the bugs if they hadn't been hamstrung with artificial plot devices. The fellow debating me countered by describing Australia's war with the Emu, a species of bird, where corporate and military power threw everything they could at them, and still lost. That example stopped me cold. Until I realized that the critical difference between Emus and the Xenomorph was that Emus can reproduce at will with geometric population growth curves. By contrast, a Xenomorph population is strictly limited to the number of hosts it can first capture, giving a major tactical intelligence advantage to a military seeking to wipe them out. You can easily determine how many targets are active in the field by taking a basic head count of everybody not missing or facehugged. He conceded the point, and our conclusion was this: Australian birds pose a greater military challenge than Ridley Scott's Alien. All that being said.., if I had to choose, I'd rather be locked in a cage with an Emu than a freakin' Alien!
The movies should've stopped after part 3. However, I do like the idea of Dallas being an ex employee of the Tyrell Corp. And the Replicants being somewhat similar to the artificial humans In alien/aliens
Aliens pales in comparison to the original. The first half is excellent but the second half is an early example of wokeness. Ripley suddenly turnes into superwoman and it all becomes very unrealistic and silly. That line "get away from her you bitch" is laughably bad and it looked like shite at the cinema in 86 and still does on 4K. A L I E N is a masterpiece Aliens is a half decent action b-movie.
Aliens turned a horror masterpiece into just another mindless action movie. But all the fanboys love it because they seen it as a little kid and they are blinded by nostalgia. If it stayed true to its horror roots the '''franchise''' wouldn't suck as bad as it does. Aliens is what killed the franchise.
Alien was very good but Aliens was over the top.The best in the series. Only Alien:Romulus comes close to it. Ripley and Hicks are my favourite characters and my favourite line will always be, Drake, we are leaving ! (best when yelled really loud). Thanks for an excellent documentary.
First of all, I’d like to congratulate you on getting a thumbs down, on your video you just wasted my time and your time by having a in-line commercial in your video. As TH-cam premium subscriber, I will not tolerate inline videos. So again congratulations!!

Who the fuck is "Sam Winston"? STAN Winston worked on ALIENS. 🤦♂
I was at work when one coworker told another that the new movie in the franchise was out and it was called "Aliens" . The person he told went slightly pale and shock face, stating " You mean there is more than ONE ????!!!" . That about captures it :)
God dam you Bishop!!!
That was the moment I freaked out completely in cinema. Ripley and Newt alone and the alien cames up with the elevator.
Does Aliens top Alien? That might be an unfair question. Alien is a horror film, while Aliens is an action film. Perhaps they are both equally perfect within their genres.
This is probably the best movie I have ever seen... And I am a movie lover and a sci-fi fan.
It has everything in big amounts...
Remarkable movie. The audience went wild in the movie theater when Ripley walks out for the final battle. It was an incredible experience to have. Where is Sigourney Weaver‘s Oscar? This is my favorite of the franchise. The entire cast was incredible.
A fond memory of Aliens is when Paxton said about Newt. "Why don't we put her in charge."
I've always LOVED that scene and line,so many quotes from this-GREAT-film.
Hudson said that. Duh
Paxton the actor played Hudson the character.
Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up with current events but we just got our asses kicked pal 😂😂😂 I love that one

I wore out my VHS tape of this, back in the day, I watched it so many times. It was one of my absolutely favorite movies back then.
Watch it over and over again until the tape got stuck and couldn't eject.. . but its ok, its Aliens movie, if its other xxx movie, i would panic.. xdxd
This is a great documentary

Mad Max 2 also
And Wrath of Khan.
@kakwa1236 damn, I forgot about that classic. ✌️
Shrek 2 is the best of the entire franchise
Totally agree with that!🇨🇦
Apples & oranges. While I enjoyed both films, Alien was a stand-alone thriller with a great storyline w/ cool twists, while Aliens was a summer blockbuster w/ action heroes.
Well put!
Both films also had-GREAT-characters to care about and root for.too.
so glad they didnt let scott direct aliens.

One of the best sci-fi movies ever!
No one of the best movies ever of any genre.
One of my all time fave Sci Fi movies. With some legendary scenes and one liners. 🙂
By far the best of the Aliens universe! Greatest scifi horror film ever made.
My favourite movie of all time! Absolutely fabulous from start to finish. Nice video, very informative. Thanks.🇨🇦
The biggest mistake made by any movie 🎥makers , is killing off Newt and Hicks 😮
Abso-bloody-lutely! That completely put me off that film right from the start, anything else that came after was pointless. After all Ripley did to save the pair of them, it turns out she needn't have bothered, Alien 3 should never have been green-lighted with that set-up, in my opinion that doomed it to many of the fans of the first 2 movies.
Believe it or not Alien 3 made over $100 million. It helped Fincher's film
career.
@ pretty sure he didn't enjoy making it though, sounds like it was a bit of a nightmare with the pressure on him, thanks for your info.
You got that right!!
Should of stuck to the books, they are amazing
Characters in order Ripley, Hicks, Hudson and Vasquez are a great squad
Aliens is not only my favorite Alien movie, but one of my selective best sci Fi action movies of all time . This movie is part of my teenage pop culture favorites.
Must admit as a reptile lover, when the queen alien hisses at ripley near her eggs, for some weird reason I find her cute with her little spicy hiss back
That picture you have for Mark Rolston is not the Mark Rolston who starred in Aliens. The picture you have up at 15:14 is a "designer, design leader. former CCO of frogdesign, founder and former CCO/CEO of argodesign."

@@ThePopcast You're most welcome!

Great time of movies 70s/80s/90s ❤ nostalgic films mang
Thank you much love
Aliens is THE BEST!!! While Alien is (JUST?ONLY) GOOD, it DOES NOT COME CLOSE ALIENS!!!!!! ALIENS IS THE BEST. NO CONTEST!!!!!
I love both Alien and Aliens. I love the universe they are set in, and I love the character of Ripley. These were some of the best movies of their time ans set a very high bar going forward.
Aliens is one of my all time favourite films. Alien is a good film but I have no desire to ever watch it again
Love it. Great job as always.
Isn't it amazing that for years, almost everyone thought that Cameron brought the concept of the military, but the idea was always there
I'm British so I had to take a tea break half way through this video 😅
I'm James Cameron and tea breaks still make me angry 😅
You don’t come between the British and Tea, no matter who you are
Well Cherio old chap!
@truocleb no I'm working class so I'm a cockney chimney sweep and say governor a lot.
Hell, my picture is Corporal Hicks. Top 5 Sci-Fi movie of all time.
Hard to pick a favorite between Alien and Aliens. They are very different movies. But, clearly, they are far and away the best of all the Alien movies.
1) Aliens. 2) Prometheus. 3) Alien: Romulus. 4) Alien 3. 5) Alien. 6) Alien:Ressurection. 7)Alien vs. Predator. 8) Alien: Covenant.
Tbh Aliens imo is one of the most undistributed Action Movie film of all time alongside Predator/2 and Terminator1/2JD. NOT to mention Starship Troopers and Star Wars. Classics.
"Game Over man, game over!"
Aliens is my favorite. Next to Ripley, I liked the Bishop character.
This is my favorite Alien Film and Favorite Scifi horror film.
Finally decided.... it's apples and oranges. Both movies are classics in their own right. Horror, design, originality - Alien. Action, plot, character development, dialogue - AlienS. They're both great, but I've watched AlienS dozens of times more.
Is it just me, or does that bumper music sound like it's from Total Recall?
Is Aliens my favorite movie of the franchise? Hell, Aliens is my favorite movie of all time. Period.
Aliens was awesome, Definitely near the top of sequel lists alongside Godfather II, or The Empire Strikes Back. But for pure imagination, for that feeling of sitting in the theater totally scared, the original is still the best.

Two of the crew members died at age 61 years old..a curse, simmilar to the 27 club?(just being silly but interesting though)
Aliens is fun... Got that 80s 90s action vibe.
Alien... Still a great story produced very well
Still enjoy the saga 😂 even 3
0:53 Yes you're talking about Terminator 2 right? 😂😂
Best one. CPL Hicks

Not sure if this is a retcon, but I’ve heard that the “LV” classification of the planet “LV-426” stands for “life viable”.
I wouldn't even know where to begin with my favorite parts of the movie!? Haha!
Tough call between my favorite in the Franchise... The director's cut of both Alien & Aliens are too close to call. That said, I'll lean towards Aliens. ...Mostly. 😏
Really hope they do A LOT more with Alien vs Predator!!!
Definitely prefer the director's cut & yet my least favorite aspect of the director's cut was that they didn't include Ripley giving Burke a grenade after he had been impregnated.
Bought 3 shirts from you all after watching this vid!!! 🤪
Yes! It’s my life favorite movie with blade one and two, predator and terminator one and two and the matrix one and two
Aliens has more loved lines in that movie than any other movie in the history of movies.
Aliens is the best sequel of any movie I've ever seen, and IMO the only one worthy of following Alien.
Terminator launched James Cameron”s career.
Best movie of the franchise.
13:13 Who??
Aliens, T2 and Predator all time top 3
Oh and did anyone know that David Copperfield owns the chestburster from the first Alien ?
Alien is a horror movie. Aliens is an action movie. In Alien there is a lot of very frightening stalking in dark corridors. Ah, c'mon.... mentioning The Ladd Company and all those movies, and leaving out Police Academy?!
I nearly did! I could only pick three without being gratuitous and I have a soft spot for The Right Stuff ;)
I remember watching Aliens at the Egyptian movie theatre in Hollywood when newly released in 1986.Such an exhilerating experience on the big screen.Action packed of course.

Disrespectful that you called the great Stan Winston ,”Sam” Winston
Stan Winston is a Hollywood great and he will be missed
He’s NOT Sam!!!
How could the writer do such extensive research and then get the name wrong 🤦♂️

15:14 that's really him?
Not at all. I knew it was the wrong person as soon as I saw it. His name is Mark Rolston, it's just not the Aliens actor Mark Rolston. A huge mistake when making an Alien documentary.
I like Aliens than Alien , T2 than Terminator, Empire Strikes Back than Star Wars, Superman 2 than Superman .
Aliens is the better film and it's more fun to watch!
Watching this on TV right now
Just at the part where Hicks edges the roof lid up..
Can't not watch this movie even if I'm up early if its on TV.
Even though I got it on DVD and Blu Ray ❤
Something from being a 11 year old and watching this at late night TV showings after watching the Trilogy on VhS for the first time aged 8...
Dutton.
Alien used to be too boring for me. Even though it grew on me alot I always liked Aliens more.
Aliens is by far the Best overall and Alien is by far the best first!
I remember having a debate with a dude on Quora, where I stated that, "Aliens aren't nearly as terrible a monster as people believe."
By the end of the debate, we both learned a bunch of things.
He conceded the point, and our conclusion was this:
Australian birds pose a greater military challenge than Ridley Scott's Alien.
All that being said.., if I had to choose, I'd rather be locked in a cage with an Emu than a freakin' Alien!
Great? He called Stan Winston.... "Sam Winston".
Broooooóooooooooo👁️👁️👁️👁️👁️👁️
Took a few weeks! Finally finished, now I sleep.
The movies should've stopped after part 3.
However, I do like the idea of Dallas being an ex employee of the Tyrell Corp. And the Replicants being somewhat similar to the artificial humans In alien/aliens
Prometheus and Covenant will never be canon for a true fan of the franchise....
Goldstein was a bodybuilder
They just don't make them like this anymore.
ICONIC? Every millenial thinks that's the only adjective in existence.
Aliens is just BADARSE
MAKE AD BLOCKER GREAT AGAIN
I will still give Ridley Scott a chance. But Cameron? No.

Thanks for an excellent documentary.
how could anyone ever tire of eating colonial marine rations ??
sheesh !!
First of all, I’d like to congratulate you on getting a thumbs down, on your video you just wasted my time and your time by having a in-line commercial in your video. As TH-cam premium subscriber, I will not tolerate inline videos. So again congratulations!!
Nice try, but you lost me at “Sam Winston”..
Alien was the best, Aliens was cool, fun and exciting and Alien 3 was a disaster.
