The reason I don't like limited copies is because they flood the catalog with copies of existing items, especially since some have multiple copies, which makes it harder to find original UGC items.
I've been trading limiteds for 4 years and I currently have 2 valks and some smalls, I literally agree so much with your video, I did watch the video you're talking about and it was odd to watch it even for myself, roblox representatives stated that old offsale items will all go limited one day, I'm still waiting for that to happen. So annoying old items I want are offsale I literally have to buy a fake epic vampire face like every week.
this video comes off kind of ignorant ngl, no offense to anyone who holds this perspective but what seems to not be understood here is that hats, and more specifically the roblox-made items within the catalog, are a huge part of what made Roblox stand out as an mmo A great example I have for this is actually from World of Warcraft, and how tier sets from the most difficult or complicated raids will look cooler than armor sets that you would get from, say, doing a normal difficulty raid, or the gear a starting player would have. Granted, it's not exactly the same thing, but many highly valued or really desired items were not even initially ones you would pay for. Let's use the example of Workclock headphones and shades that is used in this video, at 9:08 I believe you say that "people would not care as much if Roblox was still making Roblox stuff" and I have to say, that hits the nail on the head quite directly. I'm not JUST upset that anyone can put on my jj5x5, or my domino crown, or my uncle tentacles, or whatever! People are often upset because Roblox no longer bothers with a huge aspect of what made Roblox fun to a lot of us. The issue is that the experience of hat collection is not available to any of the people who play Roblox now. Hat collection, and by extension the hat culture, was largely just a hobby a lot of people who really loved Roblox started to bond over. Hat collection in and of itself was a part of Roblox as a game, and now that it's no longer there it feels kind of unfair to the large crowd of people who really enjoyed it. Instead, Roblox has decided that the farms of mass amounts of items being made every day is better than if they were still providing this aspect of the game. This would be like if World of Warcraft let everyone upload their own mounts, or let anyone upload their own tier sets to the game that could be acquired by just purchasing a custom template for like 25 gold. It would ruin the accomplishment that players who worked for their tier sets or ahead of the curve mounts put in to acquire those items. This is largely what is happening here. The issue is not one of rarity, it is one of deminishing the accomplishment of people who were really interested in Roblox and came to love that aspect of the game. So many of the hats that are now expensive were initially put onto the catalog for far cheaper prices, and what's sad is that this opportunity no longer exists for anymore new players because Roblox has proven time and time again they are too out of touch to even know how to make a good limited anymore. At 11:45 you also state that he's basically saying "if you own lampshade in 2014 you actually shouldn't because it came out in 2007 because that ruins the history of the hat." This in and of itself is kind of a strawman cause that's not what he's saying. You actually correctly interpret what he meant by this before giving this strawman which is also really weird. Then at 14:42 you state he thinks all youtubers or devs should have a rare expensive hat if they want a successful brand, which is just kind of placing words into his mouth because he just didn't say that. What is stupid is the item associations with users though, fuck koneko, fuck mrobvious, fuck notive, fuck kazdam, fuck mugen, fuck the entire myth community to be honest, those associations r cemented into my mind ETERNALLY. What I can get behind is how genuinely fucking stupid it is that dominus emp and other super rare items have literally 0 owners. This can actually be attributed to the ultra rich on the platform being insiders and admins. Shedletsky owns 3 of each of the most rare dominuses on the site, across several alts. It's actually stupid, and no items should ever be so rare that the users of the site literally cannot use them. Couple this with the fact that Roblox themselves have every deleted copy of an item stored somewhere and choose to do... nothing... with it is mind boggling. I guarantee you if they did a massive community giveaway for all of the most popular limiteds a ton of people would be super excited, with only toxic traders really getting mad (i.e. the people who would say "x classic is ruined cus its back onsale") Then at 16:44 you bring up bming, which honestly is not really representative of what is being talked about. Bmers have also really ruined a lot of fun aspects about this culture, and are more of a representation of Roblox's hyper corporatization and their inability to moderate things which are not even that hard to moderate. If they really wanted to crack down on usd buying they could take any example of someone on Rolimons suddenly skyrocketing in value, compile these users into some kind of list to keep tabs on, and if no robux increases or decreases are made to any users involved with the transaction AND said transactions are inherently suspicious (ie egg for a valk) you could start to genuinely crack down on all of them. These people not only do not care about said culture, but detest it. Most of them see cool hats like the Dusekkar or Ghosdeeri and genuinely think they r dogshit, even tho tons of people would go crazy over the possibility of owning an official dusekkar reskin. It just kind of feels like an attempt to villainize him for missing a part of Roblox as an mmo that was really fun imo. 18:42, you say you don't want the video to be interpreted as you shitting on trading/liking something rare but... That's kind of just all you did. Outside of that and calling anyone who enjoyed that aspect of the game stupid I don't know how else to interpret it. That the community around these hats are stupid for wanting the hats they enjoy to remain rare? How is that not the point of the video? I think it would have been better to expand more on how Roblox has killed their own culture rather than how UGC contributed to it, because THAT would make a lot more sense than just kinda attacking bedsheet for a few generalizations about ugc copies. Anyways afterward you say you shouldn't be trading out of pure greed and I 100% agree, please tell that to Shedletsky though he's kind of a fucking brainlet. 19:40 this is just the point of Bedsheet ghost's video as well I feel, with UGC being the final straw that made it really obvious. It's a net negative that these traditions are no longer upheld and because of this, all the things we loved about sales and hat collection are just not possible to experience anymore. "Why the fuck are there so many items that just stopped being offsale" is my question exactly! We shouldn't HAVE to have knockoffs to begin with, and seeing them exist when the normal items LITERALLY should have remained untouched is just a reminder that Roblox seems to be consistently losing touch with their own identity via hyper corporatized dogshit. Anyways the rest of your conclusion is pretty solid, and I agree with it. Sorry for making such a long comment I just heard some points that felt like nails on a chalkboard and felt the need to say smthn. Understandable if u dont read it, but uhhh yeah haha tl;dr i dont get why ur fighting it looks like everyone could get along if bedsheet just worded his video differently, conclusion is everything I agree with there's just some really weird points before it
“World of Warcraft, and how tier sets from the most difficult or complicated raids will look cooler than armor sets that you would get from, say, doing a normal difficulty raid, or the gear a starting player would have.” I am completely fine with more desirable items being more expensive or rarer on roblox, its apart of what made roblox items cool. My main idea this whole video is that ONLY finding a roblox item cool for those reasons and then gatekeeping your shit and saying “my items are losing value, stop wearing them” as a main reason why roblox hats have lost their identity is just bizarre to me. These items can overnight be officially made widely available or put on sale for really cheap or have a official retexture made that looks real similar put up for real cheap or even just deleted off the website since Roblox controls everything. You should like an item beyond its fake value or its arbitrary rarity. Also one of points is that I don’t even think hats are actually losing value even with copies, people will always see the originals as superior and copies as cheap knockoffs. Roblox hat’s lost their identity and got less cool because Roblox stopped caring about keeping up their culture and making hats that are actually cool, not because hats have lost value and little timmy can finally buy an amongus dominus or something. “At 11:45 you also state that he's basically saying "if you own lampshade in 2014 you actually shouldn't because it came out in 2007 because that ruins the history of the hat." This in and of itself is kind of a strawman cause that's not what he's saying. You actually correctly interpret what he meant by this before giving this strawman which is also really weird.” I know that was stupid to say, that's why I prefaced it with “hypothetical bullshit” my point was not that being a legitimate argument, my point was that “what if I made an argument about hat culture that was similar in its confusion, wouldn’t that be stupid?” “Then at 14:42 you state he thinks all youtubers or devs should have a rare expensive hat if they want a successful brand, which is just kind of placing words into his mouth because he just didn't say that.” You saying this is the reason I prefaced it with saying “The way you present this whole point makes it seem like” I don’t think the dude might actually believe this but with how he presents his ideas it makes it seem like that’s what he thinks, that these special items staying special and rare and being apart of their brands is for some reason an important thing for their brands. Also I really don’t know what else I could've gotten out of that segment of his video that whole part was just confusing and not needed. “Then at 16:44 you bring up bming, which honestly is not really representative of what is being talked about. “ Me saying “unless I go out of my way to cash out” wasn’t really a jab at him for talking about the black market, it was to say again that these items aren’t really worth any real money so saying its worth thousands of dollars is just weird to me. I wasn’t trying to say he wants me to respect bming I’m just trying to point out how bizarre it is that he wants me to respect a roblox face “potentially” worth thousands of dollars. "18:42, you say you don't want the video to be interpreted as you shitting on trading/liking something “rare but... That's kind of just all you did.” My points all revolve around the idea of “is this killing roblox item culture/identity” while I agree it obviously comes off as me just shitting on trading and rare items (its why I even said I hope it doesn’t get interpreted as this in my conclusion) what I’m trying to actually express my distaste and confusion for is that there's people who only like certain items just because they’re rare and people don’t have access to them, and think people having this stuff is why the culture is ruined, and then relating all of that back to Public UGC to say this is reason Public UGC is bad, like no UGC and the culture sucks for not entirely unrelated but still different reasons. Just complaining for all the wrong reasons. “i dont get why ur fighting” Im not trying to fight lol I’m just annoying, lazy, and like spreading my awful hating opinions. It’s why I give so many disclaimers, the last thing I want is anyone getting genuinely upset or harassed over some shitty block game opinions. Anyways I respect your comment a lot, and I’m glad you left it. Hopefully I don't come off like a complete dumbass with my response.
@@Rul_l no this was actually chill asf, i respect everything u said here. i think we should encourage ppl to make more videos going in depth about this stuff cause ive been trying to make a well-researched one for abt a month now and had like 30+ pages written so far public ugc has its strengths, i think roblox hairs have historically been dogshit and never gave black ppl or other like groups of ppl any really good options for customization. i just think roblox needs to improve their community relations fast cos based on the hours of research ive been putting in, their stock is genuinely suffering cus of it also, the only correction here id make is abt item valuation. id actually argue limiteds r becoming absurdly expensive, moreso than they honestly ever should be. this isnt JUST ugc's fault, but public ugc has made the egoists that own them cling onto them more, thus causing the value to go up cus theyre like only taking absurd ops the main issue is obv premium payouts and the sheer amt of robux some people now own, and general inflation too. so public ugc's role is still minor all around chill comment, glad i cld talk w u!!
While I don't agree about everything what you said, you have a big point about off-sale items part. The people who have offsales (Sale items for example) really do gatekeep their own items. They basically become selfish because they just want to be the only ones who own said item and I guess they want to feel special idk. And you also make a really good point about the WCHP. Demand is there and Roblox doesn't make them on sale and using the Gold CWHP as an example basically proved your point. Well-made video too! Edit: I also watched his video about the CWHP Series (Really Good Video Too, not saying that Bedsheet Ghost's videos are bad or I'm a hater of his videos) and I'm more convinced that he's basically just gatekeeping the WCHP because he quite literally says he wouldn't want them limited. He basically says that he doesn't want other people wearing them & to not having access to them. I feel like I'm a bad person now or I'm not on the right side of the argument just for disagreeing idk anymore
I like bedsheet ghost, but this video just rubbed me the wrong way. Why is he trying to gatekeep an item that people like? It's literally just a virtual hat, it's not the end of the world if it went limited. He's probably still crying that wchps went back onsale last week for 24h xd.

yeah, thats why they made a feature where you type in a user’s name and all of their hats show up
