  • 👋 Hi there! Welcome to our "All-in-One Walking & Strength Workout for Seniors" video!
    This complete 50-minute session for seniors over 50 includes dynamic stretching, balance exercises, strength training, a 15-minute walking workout, and gentle stretching. Do it all at once or in sections! No worries if you need to hit the pause button -- we'll be waiting for you! 😊

    As we age, it becomes increasingly important to maintain an active lifestyle to promote overall health and well-being. This workout combines various elements to help you improve flexibility, balance, cardiovascular endurance, and muscular strength. Follow me as I do the exercises standing or move with my Mom in a chair! For the strength training section, we use resistance bands, but you can use any kind of weights or no weights at all.
    Because this workout for seniors over 60 includes strength training, we recommend doing it twice a week, adding on other yes2next workouts if you want more practice in any area. This can serve as one of your recommended two strength sessions a week and will rack up 20 minutes of the recommended weekly 150 minutes of moderate intensity cardio/walking (about 2400 steps including your warm up, more or less depending on your pace!).
    This workout can be modified to suit your individual fitness level and needs. Listen to your body and work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Stay hydrated throughout the session and consult with your healthcare professional before starting any new exercise program.

    Today was the 5th video of yours I have done this week. I see the love you have for your mom and her for you. It makes me smile. I love when your kitty joins in. I have nine cats that I rescued over the years, and most of them are bored with me exercising. But my newest Fred wants my band to play with.

    Awesome workout; longer but an all in one which was great. I think your Mom(who has 5 years on me) and I could be the "Fast Feet" champs. My late husband was a football coach and my 2 sons played all throughout college and are now HS and College Coaches so I learned all about doing the "Fast Feet" over 40 years ago and it is a drill they still do today.     My cat Jose had hidden my band so used light weights instead.
    This was a good challenge and will look for another long one tomorrow.

    Great workout! I liked the variation of movements and use of various bands along with dumbbells. The timers were an added bonus in my book, thanks so much for them.     I really liked it...
    before I always focused on weight loss... now that the long covid and my loss of balanced strength etc
    that's the most important...
    the network will follow... priority tried to gain strength tried to stop decreasing..we don't give up I like your chain moving with you..and with your charming mother sitting like her I work as best as I can the exercises more balance I do it with support it makes me happy to move a little thank you thank you both of you❤

    look what I found hihi a complete work 🤗 yes I worked my muscles giving them strength..my legs also benefited with the more elastic squats & weights...the cardio I used my weights as much as possible 3 lbs on certain movements...very happy...plus I have seen but not done yet made another video with elastic like 32 minutes yes...good job for me...seen it..

    This is my all time favourite.
    Since working out with you I have started to drink!
    In a cold country like Scotland you don't feel like drinking water apart from tea coffee and soup!
    I treated myself to a brand new bottle and I take little sips throughout the day. Feel much better for it.
    I noticed that your mum doesn't drink like you do. Am wondering if older ladies like us do not feel thirsty?
    Also how much water should we drink a day? Does it depend on age height and weight?

      Hi there! Glad you enjoyed this workout and are focused on staying hydrated throughout the day. As we age, our thirst can decrease, which means we need to be deliberate about drinking water -- your sips during the day are excellent! The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine suggests a daily total water intake, including all beverages and food, of about 3.7 liters (125 ounces) for men and 2.7 liters (91 ounces) for women.
      During exercise, it's recommended to drink water before, during, and after your workout to replace fluid losses. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) advises consuming 17 to 20 ounces (500 to 590 milliliters) of water two to three hours before exercise, and an additional 7 to 10 ounces (200 to 295 milliliters) of water every 10 to 20 minutes during the activity. But listen to your body's signals and adjust your water intake accordingly. Keep up the great work! 👏 ❤️

    What a great, thorough workout! My main on-my-own exercise is walking outside, and I love that I can come to your channel to balance that out with strength, agility, flexibility & balance, and just overall variety. You ladies are my virtual trainers!
    This one I used my new 8# weights on the rows for the first time -- exciting. Was able to use #5 on many others, and move up from 2 to 3# for the straight-arm raises (always careful with those because of the force of gravity with the arm being fully extended). Woo hoo! I even carried the 2-pounders into the cardio portion until the point of fatigue and then put them down for the last rounds. Great workout all-around!

    Can I do this video once every other day and have enough of a workout for the week? I love it because it's all in one and includes exercises for the whole body, including balance which I need badly due to PN. I enjoy the yoga stretches at the end also. I am 81 years young. HaHa

When I am doing your workout, I am not usually looking at my TV screen, and you don't always say okay stop (or whatever) as a set of exercises finishes, especially the ones where we reach down to our toes. I find you showing the next one when I look up. That is the only complaint I have but love your videos. And I realize some of the videos are older ones and you can't change them. thanks!

    I haven't had a chance to try this one yet, but I watched it all the way through and have a couple of comments.
    1) Some New York MTA buses still have that pull string to notify the driver to stop, so you're not dating yourself as much as you thought with that reference after all, April! 😁😀
    2) I can tell just by watching how good Aiko's endurance is. She was so energetic and enthusiastic with those "fast feet" even after over 40 minutes and even in the cooldown after 50 minutes! I'm not sure my endurance will be as good as hers when I try this one, and she's about 20 years older than I am! ( I'm 61.) 💪🏃‍♀👟

    Excellent workout I did it some seated and standing! I had to hold on to the chair with the legs standing!

    Felt good! I have a question about the tubing you were using. Was there a reason why you didn't have the handles on them? Are they uncomfortable or awkward? All the ones I own I find the handles hurt my hands - too little padding, I guess.

      So sorry for the delay in replying. For some reason, we didn't get your message when it came in. Great to hear you felt good after doing this workout! The choice of bands is a personal one. Depending on individual choice (and comfort), you can use the bands with or without the handles. One suggestion with the bands with handles -- how about holding a small hand towel in addition to using the bands with handles?

    While I truly enjoy all of your videos one area of concern for me is bursitis and of course osteoarthritis. Do you have any safe workouts to help to eliminate the pain correctly?

    I have a question about the RENRANRING stretchy bands that you linked in the video description. They come in various different sizes, and I'm not sure which size would be appropriate for me. I'm about 5 ft., 5 in. tall. What size do you think would work best for the exercises you demonstrated here?

      Hi there! Looks like the 5.9 ft bands may be right for you. It's also fine to get the 6.5 ft band -- you can always choke up on the band or wrap it around your hands to get the right tension. The Amazon description notes:
      3.9ft Physical Therapy Bands are suitable for a body height of about 1.2m~1.6m;
      4.9ft Physical Therapy Bands are suitable for a body height of about 1.4m~1.7m;
      5.9ft Physical Therapy Bands are suitable for a body height of about 1.6m~1.8m; (5.25 feet to 5.9 feet)
      6.5ft Physical Therapy Bands are suitable for a body height of about 1.7m~1.9m
