I really like this conversational review style, Aoife and Ian. Keep it up, Team Eurogamer! As for the game itself... Once again, the underrated World War Z seems to be the standard barer for horde shooters in the 21st Century. The ironic thing is while Aliens: Fireteam Elite shares a lot in common with WWZ, it doesn't appear to share what makes WWZ fun to play: Exploration resulting in upgrades (Breaching Charges), better checkpoints for long missions and just having a better sense of why you and your friends (or bots) are battling hordes of the undead.
Wwz doesn't have any exploration it's linear asf and I have almost 15 days of gameplay time in it. I have played this game and it's great and I'll say If you really are on the fence play it on insane then proceed to stfu lol

Is their an AI Director like in L4D or are all encounters the same every time?
The alien attacks and appearances are mainly random, but there are encounter points where you always trigger a big battle.

I still don't think this game does enough with the acid blood. It should hang around & create persistent hazards in the level so you have to think about where you want to kill stuff, & maybe the medic could have something to neutralise it in an area to give them some more variety. I do like that there appears to be an alien named Monica though.
Yea, the acid does alot more damage and stays around longer on higher difficulties but nothing quite as bad as what you are looking for.
@@Mothman1111 It wouldn't need to make things more difficult per se, just add a little variety & maybe increase replayability.

I sure hope you all three do a multiplayer round it is another kind of atmosphere with a real life friend by ones side playing these kind of games. As yourself said perfect for three.

No. The CPU requirements are low but you still need a discrete GPU.

Left 4 Xenos ... hard pass.
I gotta say I'm dissapointed. AvP's from 2010 Marine Campaign looked, sounded and felt way better than anything Fireteam has to offer. And AvP wasn't even fully focused on marine's experience.

I'm seriously excited about this. Now we need another Alien Versus Predator please 🤔
They could've made a 30 to 40-hour single-player campaign story as well as adding this on, but instead only made a game that only multiplayer that has 4 missions with 12 stages, in an overpriced game with a lack of content - what a waste of an alien franchise, they still have learned a damn thing. They make an amazing single-player Alien isolation game that was in the right direction, then they take 20 steps back with this trash.
What they? There's no they; the games were made by entirely different studios with different publishers. They buy a license to use the stuff in a game & then develop whatever the hell they want.

Movement and combat look floaty, the aliens seem brain dead, rolling is a stupid panic button ability. The only redeeming thing about this crap is the lore.
