- Soul Music is a seven-part animated television adaptation of the book of the same name by Terry Pratchett, produced by Cosgrove Hall, and first broadcast on 12 May 1997. It was the first film adaptation of an entire Discworld novel (following the Welcome to the Discworld short, which was based on a fragment of the novel Reaper Man). The series soundtrack was also released on CD, but the disc is now out of production. The soundtrack is, however, now available through iTunes. - Wikipedia

Truly an amazing, original story of doing what you love while being who you want. Terry Pratchett's books have never ceased to satisfy, and this show has done the story a great justice.

I cant tell why, but death saying "oh bugga" as he rides full throttle off a cliff is really funny to me.

they did not have to make death go this hard. i love it
What an amazing journey this was! The animation was absolute jank with the charm of the late 90s, but the characters were superb! The dialogue was surprisingly good and entertaining, however the story was all over the place I think, I could barely piece together what it was trying to convey if I think about it. Nevertheless it was enjoyable, no bad characters, Death really stole the show! Christopher Lee, may he rest in peace, was extraordinary.
I really love Death. "Now that's what I call music with rocks in!" I love that little "smirk" at 14:17, and he and Susan at the end are so cute!

@@Xrisus94 I think this is the actual intent. Band with Rocks in plays early 60s to some late 70s music, while Death's riff sounds something right out of Yngwie Malmsteen. Also, while early rock really had this "i'm going to live forever" mentality, metal has a very different ethos. Despite living through the Cuban Missile crisis, early rock shys away from negativity. 60 and 70 music rarely dwelt on death and stark reality, while its all the 80s and 90s seem to want to talk about. Considering even the cultures in question agree on how this went down, it's a great reference. Death literally kills early rock with metal, fucking brilliant.
He pulled an even bigger power move in the book. There, he can only play one thing: the swan song of the universe. Thus the Music is forced to bring Buddy back to counter it.

I have so many hard copies and ebooks of his its amazing that I have any room to lie down in my apartment . I love his stuff he has great sense of humor and is very twisted , somewhat like my own evil sense of humor. However he is in the stratosphere with his achievements while am crawling around in Poughkeepsie. A difference of some thousands of miles. Keep at it old man never quit even up to the moment they shoveling sand in your face.

I know the feeling just a glance around my place I count 20 pratchet books and I am still buying them is physical copies even the ones I have audio and Ebooks of. It truly is a great loss. I just got back from the bookstore with guards guards when I found out Pratchett had his little chat with death.

Well remember discworld Arkh dollar was based on british Pound till 1973. For today inflation(december 2022) its like 156 428 US dollars +/- .
Its mentioned in a book that a good horse was 100 dollars, so thats a good frame rate.

Never knew death played so well.
He got tired of God's trumpet malarkie, and got bored with old Nick's Violin, and his son's banjo, so he tried something a little less majestic or sinister, and a little more epic.
Didn't he originally use a shard of his scythe as plectrum to silence the guitar, though? That was so much more epic.
This is exactly right, and just what I was thinking, but it must have been impossible to find a way to make sound die - it couldn't just be silence, it would have to be something much more powerful.
