Deviating For Weather| Cross Country Navigation Log

- Gaz and I have been training for his cross country solo and it's been going well. But he's never been tested like he got tested in this flight. Un-forecast weather built up on our route and I left it up to Gaz to find a solution to our weather related problem.
Enjoy the flight.

I'm a simple man, I see a LewDix video I upvote it. It ain't much but it's honest work.
Haha thank you! Yessshhh
Just wait for the “He got his license” video... that will be a great one!!
mate can you tell me in which country and in which aviation academy did he teaches flying?
Jerry Lim I’ll tell you. He’s independent I’m pretty sure in Florida
Mad-Pilot I’m pretty sure about that too!
@@LewDixAviation 😄😄 in which aviation academy did you teach?
Another great video, gents - would definitely like to see more of these cross-country planning/navigation vids. And we do miss Rog... and Dani.
Just passed my checkride in a cherokee last week, your videos helped tons!! Thanks!
Great stuff! Glad I could assist from afar haha.. congratulations!
Great video love watching you guys fly together
As a Swede, that intro cracked me up. Love it!
Hahaha excellent!
Cessnas are king and you know it. You can actually see the scenery below you. :)
Yeaaa you see plenty more than you bargain for as well when you’re floating down runways 😏
Oh well you'll love it buddy. I sold the GTR today and am currently talking to someone in Louisiana to buy his Cherokee Six. If he agrees I will fly out there in July to pick it up but I'm sure I'll need instruction time to get covered on insurance. Weight doesn't matter for you in a Cherokee six!!!
I remember flying in the area while doing my training... My base was KCOI Merritt Island Airport
As much as I hate to say this...I think the Cessna is better when it comes to soft field takeoffs. Love the video as always
2theSkysStudios I agree that the Cessna is better at soft fields.. Higher wing is away from any dirt or debris you may kick up, and they float for days for that extra smooth touchdown kiss! Short field errrrrr another story lol thanks mate!
It was crazy! I just started flight training and looked up the registration for one of the planes. It took me to your TH-cam! I've been watching you for years and now I'm at Flysmart!
Can you make a video on how to prepay for a cross country? Love the videos man teaching me a lot
Awesome stuff LD! I'm getting ready for my first solo soon!
Sweet man!
Cross country is where I am on my ppl journey here in Jerez, would like to see more of this. Great vid
Great video. Runway looked bumpy as hell.
Great video to demonstrate the shortcomings of not flying with ForeFlight (or other inferior EFB.) No ADSB traffic aids, no NEXRAD weather aids, head down way too much looking at map and calculating time/distances. Not sure why we still teach this comparatively unsafe method? I can hear the answers, “But sir, what if your iPad runs out of battery, overheats, crashes, or North Korea hits us with an electromagnetic bomb???” Answer: I fly with 3 iPads, have not yet even needed the 3rd. Have needed the second iPad only on 2 occasions. I am sufficiently backed up, except I fly with only 1 engine. An EFB is now as fundamental to an airplane as are the radios. Although we do teach it in ground school, we dont teach real world 7600. Maybe the same should be considered for the EFB? In other words, review pilotage in ground school, but that’s it.
You should make some “Rogggaaahhhhh” merch
Watch this space ;)
I'm thinking bumper sticker
Fun video gents. Always enjoy the trip with you both! 😎 👍 🇬🇧 Tim
Cheers Tim!
2 days ago i did 230NM 2 tng 1 low aproach. Didng get out of the olane for 3h also deadreconing and pilotage. My but hurt so much from sitting, also i had to change frq like 10 times
Great to saw the paper and pen vs. iPad. Manual stuff is way to go at this stage.
7:37 - Do you have him pull the metal E6B out and do a wind calculation or something, in flight?
I like to have knowledge of how to use pen and paper before using iPads. When the iPad fails, you aren’t left in the dark.
A Swedish What :)) Cracked me up and you two too, good job. Pilotage on TH-cam wish there was more of it for us wanna be pilots, hungry on the camera battery's though, I get it.
This video is one of my favourite's.
Thanks Jim!!
Haha, not a Cessna in sight :D
I went from DA20 to PA28 to C152... like all of them... but would love to try a Sling...
Ahh the good old "Where is the airport?" song. I know that well.
This is fun. :) . My best from Sweden
What navlog was he using? Was it skyvectors? I’m in my cross country portion and i’ve been trying to find a good navlog to use.
Very nice vid Lew. Your trainee pilot is coming on very well and you should be really proud👌 👏👏👏
But did he really say rowt? 😱
I got a question. How many G’s do you pull on average for a stall spin?
During the spin when airspeed is stabilized you’re pulling just over 1G or so. As your airspeed increases you start to load the wing up again so that’s why in the recovery you have to be careful.
LewDix Aviation alright thanks I was just curious because I’m about to do my 3rd orientation flight with Civil air patrol and it’s about stalls and that’s one of the maneuvers I’ll be doing
Keep doing your own music, it's dope, never mind the people that don't like it. Can't wait to see the next video.
WOW! Can not believe you did not make a big deal that you were right there where they manufacture PIPER’s!
I did record something about that but it didn’t make it in the final edit!
Fantastic video!
Amazing video! 🤙
Love your channel ✨✌️
Great job man! I hope I can have as much fun as you guys do. How does one get to train with you?
I notice that you fly with the left small window open. Would you keep it open even at higher altitudes?
Domenic Esposito depending on OAT, I use to fly with it open all flight... especially in the summer because those planes can get very hot inside
Funny...as soon as he said, "It seems funny...every time I let go, it wants to go to the right" I immediately said...his fuel is uneven and then BANG - YOU SAID IT! I was actually patting myself on the back. FYI...I go for my Part 107 license today. I don't think "I got this". Only in the last two days I discovered that the material I was studying was all out of date. The PAVE-DECIDE-I'M SAFE threw me for a loop along with calculating mAh into minutes of flight. We will see...I'll let you know on your next video.
Good luck!
@@SPICESKATING I passed...Got an 83 but that came with a lot of sweating.
Just curious why the window was left open? On the pilot side glass?
Because it's very hot in Orlando haha
@@LewDixAviation Up in CT, we dont really have to worry about that!!
Lew, I very much enjoy the channel. I know form watching that you detest Cessnas and prefer Pipers. Have you made or will you consider making a video explaining why?
Thanks man. I touched on it in this LewDixCast Episode: th-cam.com/video/w3HN1hUKQRY/w-d-xo.html
Next time grab some lunch at C.J. Cannon's? Tasty burgers. Maybe make a video experience out of it too ;)
Watch my latest video ;)
+Another Sub.. And LewDix flies a proper airplane.
Can anyone tell me in which country and in which aviation academy did he teach?
he is in florida, usa,as for the academy im not sure
He's independent.
What’s the name of the music playing at the end?
How come I can’t find you on Patreon? Did you win the Florida Lottery? 😀
That's been shut down for a while now.. I moved to channel memberships through TH-cam. Click the 'join' button on my channel page to see that stuff!
What do you think of Grumman aircraft?
I wouldn’t want to train a new student in one, but they are fun little birds to fly
10:55 I'm from Sweden...
I sincerely apologize 😂
what company do you teach for?
He's independent and out of Florida
Lew Dix "Welcome to the Sky" Aviation
Why didn’t you guys go direct?
I don't like busting Bravo airspace haha
I should get my rpl in 3 months! When I turn 16
sounds like your here in canada,im also aiming for that when possible
Low wing is where it’s at
Why don’t you like cessnas?
Nothing wrong at all with your Swedish, maybe just work on your pronunciation a bit 🇸🇪 ... And by the way, you never leave IKEA without an other pack of tealight (Värmeljus) :)
Or Swedish meatballs and Lingonberry sauce... Yum!
Are you going to be best man at Gaz's wedding?
Or the Bride......
I have an issue with the statement "Your using that as an aid, which it is. A navigational... aid". You forgot the word 'thingy' after using. Are you even British if you don't use the word thingy😂?????? Good stuff as always Lewis 👍
ahh I'm gonna have to delete the video mate, thank you for showing me the error of my ways...
But where is the ladyfriend? Did ya make her to sick to fly again?
