- Majima finds an ad posted on the wall about a drug test that will grant its volunteer 10 million yen, it seems too good to be true, therefore Majima checks the place out to see what it's all about.

If these guys really wanted to elevate Japanese medical research to new heights like they said, they would've tried to expand upon the magical wonder drinks known as Toughness, Tauriner, and Staminan. I mean, come on, they've been shown to help people take more bullets than Tony Montana at the end of Scarface and keep on truckin', and spend entire days catching swords with their teeth and smashing dudes into the ground with motorcycles.
You can't get much more than infinity, maximum, and spark, respectively...

Theory: You have to be extremely physically fit for those drinks to have that effect on you. Regular people might just think that they're overpriced vitamin/energy drinks.

If all the drugs they developed just did the opposite of what was intended why won't they just make drugs that are bad for you? It's foolproof right? Say they made a drug that's supposed to kill you and due to their sheer incompetence it actually has the inverse effect, thus giving you more energy or something along those lines

I have a feeling they just dug the drugs out of a dumpster near a hospital. It would explain the unprofessional names and how they did the opposite of what the "researchers" expected. I wonder how they even had 10 million yen to give to a test subject.
Same way even low level thug gangs can potentially end up casually carrying hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of yen between them. I guess the Bubble really was good for everyone in Kamurocho and Sotenbori.

I think so, yeah. These games re-use assets a LOT.

A little glitch I've found. You can use breaker style on the focus drug even though you don't have breaker yet. It's unupgraded but it works exactly as intended. So if you want I early you can get it there. Just don't switch off. You won't be able to switch back to it until you get breaker for real.

Majima had around 14 billion yen when I did this story

I can only assume these guys went on to be senior researchers at the ADDC.
Fun fact: This is the only substory (at least from what I know) that allows you to access a style before you come across its revelation (means that you don’t have it at that point), that style being Breaker.
I honesty expected this sidequest to have "no heat" or "battle starts with 5% of your max health" kind of deal
Fun fact: During the second test. If you go before getting Breaker, You can "unlock" it before you actually get it VIA the story.
....It's not as great as it sounds, since you obviously have no upgrades for it, nor can you buy any upgrades for it until you get it in the story.

I remember I did this sub story before I got breaker, I heard about it and how fun it was to use

Fun fact: you can access this substory in act 3, before you unlock breaker style. In this case, Majima begins using Breaker early
