Reason you don’t fall in through the void is that animal crossing, unlike a lot of games, is basically 2D with a 3D look. The character doesn’t have a falling state at all, and the lowest you can go is sea level. It’s why you can’t jump or anything in game.

@@yeetyeet3279 That's not too uncommon, developers like having fun at work and hiding little secrets like that one guy from Super Mario Sunshine who is actually the runner guy from ocarina of time if you look beneath his mask. So, it would be possible, but, I agree, rather unlikely that there actually is a face under the helmet

Why does wild world look so much better graphically then new leaf in this video?
emulator filters
I figured it was due to the compressed graphics for a 3DS screen being stretched out.
Because wild world is rendered in an emulator in a much higher resolution, and the 3ds recording is the native screen resolution but upscaled for the video.

I remember being 12 and running around the tracks to the end of the bridge. It kinda just ends off screen. Sad they patched up the net glitch a while ago. ☹️

yeah you can still walk on the train tracks if you edit your map and place a pwp or building adjacent/touching the railroad track fence. i found that out yesterday :p

what the fuck
actually, if you continue walking down past the end of the ocean in New Leaf you'll end up looping back around to the top of town. this has some weird effects, namely being able to interact with things like flowers by swinging your net, throwing your fishing line, etc. all while being completely invisible to anyone else in town. if I remember correctly, you leave footprints on dirt and sand as well. made for some fun spooks before the Net Glitch got patched
(the same thing happens if you go up past the steps at the top of town, which is how it was done with the net glitch)
I never realized how nice Wild World looks. DS graphics really held up.
Now it's time of one of the 3DS Pokemon games, right?

Fun fact, you could actually see some of the stuff of the 3DS game yourself! With the use of a glitch involving the tweeter, an other player could push you out of bounds and you could explore the inaccesible areas. However, it seems like this fun glitch got fixed.
In NL, there was also a bug you could do alone, do not know if that was fixed, it may be that I just can not get it done. But you could also do with the thing with which you can catch bugs.
Run against a wall, hit the button with which you hold the thing up and walk as slowly as possible against the wall, it takes a bit but it worked in the old days anyway.

When I was a kid, I got a used Wild World cart from my mom's friend. I really loved the game and what I could do, that and I grew attached to the villagers. I always wondered what was just outside my view.

In New Leaf, if you walk past the bridge and off the ocean, you'll end up under the map and can walk around under the town. My friends and I did this a few times, and it sure was weird seeing footprints being made by something I couldn't see! I miss the old net glitch...

I love your series! I love understanding how games are made. (mostly because my major is game art and animation). and it never occured to me that there were low poly versions of stuff on screen at all times even if you weren't in an area. but there is so much I have yet to learn and I love seeing how certain things are done. and just how detalied some of the backgrounds are even if you never see them. keep up the awesome work!

My five year old daughter started crying when she realised that you couldn't play as a cat. She thought that her character was the cat that greets you on the train and was super disappointed.

once in acnl I was exploring the boundaries of the ocean by glitching, and I saw the train go by, complete with the little warning sign noises and all.
Man, seeing new leaf out of bounds reminds me of when i could just use the glitch with the net and slowly sneak into a building or a cliff
it was funny showing people i met in this game how to do it but, but it's fixed now :')

The first time I played a hacked rom of Ocarina of Time (i own the physical cartridge*) with a super jump I saw some behind the scenes things I always wanted to see. Me and my friends a couple years ago took it into our own hands to explore outside of New Leaf using the tweeter glitch to get out of bounds, but with your restricted camera you found things not even possible for us to discover. Another great episode! Could you do Pokémon Sun/Moon? it would be really cool to see different views of the restricted world and check out secrets and things left behind.

I've played a lot of new leaf but not any of the other games are they still worth playing?
Wild World and City Folk are pretty much the same, While Gamcube is totally different (there's elements that were in the gamecube AC that came to new leaf like the train and then Island). Every Animal Crossing games are pretty much the same, it just they add new stuff within the new games.
gamecube is quite different to new leaf; it has more of a goal feel imo than nl, which has goals obviously but is more open-ended. city folk/lgttc and wild world are good, but they follow the same formula (city folk just has the city - which is pretty glorified for how simplistic it is - and better graphics).
new leaf really is the definitive handheld animal crossing. that and the gc version are the most fleshed out games in the series in terms of content.
