I’m continually amazed that this spot remains the go-to starting location for speed runs! As the one who discovered and established it just a day after diving into the map, it’s exciting to see how the meta evolves with each Satisfactory update, reshaping strategies and routes. Here’s a little backstory: When I began speed running Satisfactory, players typically started south of the Northern Forest, manually crafting items to secure their first package in around 30-35 minutes. Curious if I could improve that, I experimented with gathering items from drop pods. I focused on factors like the distance to drop pod routes, the utility of items available, and the proximity to resource nodes, especially pure nodes, since manual miners extract from them faster. I settled on this location and ended up smashing the world record! Since then, several major changes have influenced the viability of this starting point: the introduction of the Resource Sink, adjustments to resource node locations, drop pod item contents, new enemies, alternative recipes, and even modifications to slide and jump mechanics. Not to mention the doggos and their insane drop tables and who knows what else is possible. Now that we’re at version 1.0, I’m excited to dive back in and explore new starting routes. Let the hunt for the perfect starter begin!
I remember talking about this development back in the day! It's really funny seeing how many times we've almost moved to a new location and then discovered it still wasn't worth it - even this most recent run we almost moved both to the rocky desert and the other Northern Forest location, but then this one won out again 😅 truly inescapable
@@EpiphaneSpeedrunsI think the south of northern forest is better now. when you get coal you just move to the southeast where the pond with 3 pure + 1 normal coal are and from there you can access literally everything. oil, quartz, aluminum, even a pure sam node, everything is close by. I'm testing this strategy now
