    I've mined and sold 27,000,000,000 credits worth of mostly void opals (from back when they were 1.7m each) and I used eddb to find the highest mass rings and have my secret vopal hotspots. One has a patch of over 10 that I've harvested countless times. It was my after work activity for many months.

    Some tricks to keep in mind:
    How transparent is the asteroid feild?
    If it is completely transparent, it will be very spaced out asteroids; best for fast large ships. If it’s completely opaque… small ships with high agility.
    Stick to you location!
    Anytime you jump, you leave a wake and you are almost guaranteed to have enemies.
    If you don’t want combat, get a ship that can do 350+ meters per second; just boost as fast as you can until they’re out of your scan.
    Learn to spot fissures without a scanner.
    You will learn that limits are gold. Instead of wasting a limpit on a potential core, shot a charge at a identifiable fissure. If it bounces off, it’s a dud; if it stick, then probe the asteroid o you know what you might have. Limpits are move valuable than charges.
    Using the previous trick you can also go limpitless mining. It’s not as easy, but I’m not going home till I’m full!

    I've spent the last few weeks mining Monazite in my Python. Yes I take big guns. I also try to mine in medium or high security systems, so if piRATS show up, I don't have to fight them alone. Last week Monazite was topping 700K a ton, so I was making a fair amount of cheddar with an occasional bounty to boot. I can generally find a good sell location within 50LY of my mining spot. I chose Monazite because it has the highest *average* sell price. You find it in rocky rings the most.

  • @Halloween111
    @Halloween111 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Once upon a time, if your detonation was too low, you got a 2nd crack at it if there was a fissure left. You didn't get the yield of a successful detonation, but it was something. I tried that last night (Been a while and I'm out of practice) and the charges just bounced off. I guess the consolation prize 2nd crack has been taken out?

  • @Margonite

    I was hoping for this video!! I didn't know much about deep core mining. Thank you, very clear.

  • @congruentcrib
    @congruentcrib ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My biggest issue is the explosion yield graph. If you get it perfect, there’s still a chance it say “exceeded optimal yeild, poor material outcome” or something along with that. Pretty much it means you blew some of the goodies up. It seems like a 90% chance it’ll say that and it usually makes no actual difference, so I think it’s just a bug.
    Being said, if you do overdo the charges… it will actually affect you outcome.
    Other word of advice is look for overlapping hotspots. I tend to find around 50% more cores there.

  • @Expunge6667
    @Expunge6667 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Just in case you're not super quick on the draw (like me, sometimes...) use night vision. It really helps when the asteroids are playing hide and seek.

    I have on multiple occasions found 4-5 cores clumped together in short distance from each other, and other times it's difficult to find a single core, this all in pristine level spots. I guess it really just depends on where you dropped in.

    People are silly. I play on the dangerous odyssey legacy and I can confirm going into a double or even triple hotspot, and an area like that makes it way easier to get away more resources, and I might be wrong but it really seems like whenever you go into a overlap area like that resource that you’re looking for is way way way more than if it was not a triple overlap.

    hello there mister hawkes commander sir.
    i`ve gotten back into elite after a few years of absence and so far your videos have been a really big help for me to get back into the game.
    i`d like to ask something in regards of "how to" guides. especially when it comes to mining. your vids give a quick and eay to comprehend overview about the task and how to perform it but it would be really helpful if you could make a more "in depth" one.
    meaning stuff like your control set up, where to put the prospector and normal drone, how to engage the specific scan mode. hell, so far i wasnt even able to move my aim in DSS mode, let alone fire my drones in a way to actually scan 100% of what i`m looking at.
    i`d highly appreciate such a guide and think i`m not alone in this since this game has quite a steap learning curve for dummies like me.
    thank you very much in advance and may you make all the space cheddar you desire.

    2:16 tbh i might maybe possibly replace one of the collector limpet controllers with a 5H guardian fsd booster, core mining has a lot less chunks of ore for your limpets to deal with per second than laser mining but tbh the 25 ly fully laden for this build is very decent so this is kind of a nitpick option (unless you find out the best selling loc is 300 ly away xd)

    • @HawkesGaming
      @HawkesGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's all the same. Most of the time I will start with 2 full charges in high strength then do light charges on the last one or two. Here is the thing. You can do a full on a high and then a full on a low and it will put you right on the edge of a perfect crack. The next one with a light change will almost always be perfect on every core.
      There is no mini game other than what I show. All cores are the same.

      From reddit:
      The PWA used to work properly, and then after a patch over a year ago it stopped working properly, because there was an unintended glitch that caused the pwa to shoot mostly backwards, which is what caused so many false positives. People who were using FA off backflips or used the screenshot camera to drive in 3rd person backwards while scanning could find cores quite easily. But people who were just looking forwards were only seeing the reflections of the scan, which is what caused the high false positive rate.
