    I'm not even sure how many locomotives this train had ...
    Railfanning Post Blizzard of 2015 Storm #3.
    Canadian National Railway locomotive 2304 (ES44DC) plows through huge snow drifts and gives me a big ass snow shower as it leads the daily CN manifest train 406 West (Moncton, NB to Saint John, NB) at Salisbury, New Brunswick.
    I'm not sure how the train crew can even see with all that snow on the locomotive's nose!
    Southern New Brunswick was hit with three major blizzards in less than a week, and there is more snow in the forecast.
    Filmed at 3:05pm, Tuesday February 3, 2015 at mile 11 of the CN Sussex Subdivision.
    Camera: Canon VIXIA HF R500

    Here in the UK, that would shut the entire country's train network down for months while they figure out what "type" of snow it is, decide how to remove it, a few months of train drivers on strike because the tracks are still slightly moist, a judge led inquiry as to how the snow got there in the first place then the health and safety executive to determine whether it's safe to use... Then another strike because the drivers seat is a bit too low.

      And we all wonder why the UK economy is on the slide, corruption. We all wonder why the UK economy is on the slide, stupidity. I would never be allowed to run the country, because i would not be allowed to run trains in snow, cut red tape,( i am sure i saw some of that tape on the west coast main line at Tamworth the other day) restart conscription and bring back the death penalty.

      Yoda on DMT Aye, Yoda! And 4 years down the LINE, nothing has changed for the better. And one wonders why the UK economy has gone to Hell in a handcart.
      Things have got so bad, UK citizens win a vote for something, and the losers of that vote do everything in their power to not honour that vote - goodbye democracy, regardless of which side you’re on!
      The Police will no longer attend to burglaries at your home. Some won’t even bother if you have the burglars in plain sight. No investigation will take place. Shoplifters have been given Carte Blanche on account of “if the cost of the goods are below £100, they can’t be bothered to attend and / or prosecute.
      Nuggets in the street are having a field day - they now use stolen mopeds and almost always get away with it.
      It’s dystopian and very depressing.
      The present Mayor of London “Khan”.....has said on record in response to growing violence and knife crime in the UK - and I quote;
      “It is part and parcel of living in London.....”
      I rest my case. Hell in a handcart it is then!! 😞

    In Germany, we have some of the most advanced trains and rail system in the world, with all kinds of high tech stuff. We got bullet trains reaching up to over 200mph. We got one of the best safety record (just like Canada) for rail vehicles. Yet, in Germany trains are running late because of a tiny bit of snow or ice. If there was as much snow on rails just like in this video, absolutely NO train would run at all.
    Good job Canadians. Snow ain't no barrier.

CP trains cross the back of our yard, on a shared UP track. • @mhachey783
    @mhachey783 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Based on my calculations, this train was averaging roughly 0.96 wagon per second, so that train was roughly 119 cars long if we include the locomotive. It looked to me like it was mostly tank cars.
    With the current COVID-19 lock down, this make me a bit homesick. This crossing is just 2.5 hours from where I grew up. Note that snow is something we are used to in Canada. Personally, I have always had a love-hate relationship with snow. If I am having to drive through a snow storm, shovel the driveway, or having to pull out of a driveway when the street view is totally blocked by snow banks that are more than 6 foot tall (1.8 m), I don't like snow. But if I am watching snow fall from the comfort of home, skying, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, or watching a snow plow or train cutting a path through the snow, it is actually quite pleasant.
    The first day of spring was March 19, but on April 19 there is still snow on the ground that hasn't melted according to my mom.

      +kinghoho2 Why bring politics into a video about a train?

    • @ZiggEnt86
      @ZiggEnt86 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because trains are politics. Canada and America were both heavily influenced by the rails, in their formative years. The men building those rails held a lot of sway (or positioned themselves to have more) with the politics of the time. I would wager that it is a safe bet to say that the big rail companies still have their hands in big politics.
      Though the politics of gun laws being connected to trains is beyond my scope.

    I witness this when we were on a back road in New Mexico. The main road was closed so we took this road to get us our destination. Snowing like crazy, no sign of life, driving 25 miles an hour trying to see the road. There was a lump along the edge to show where the road ended. Had to stop and clean off the headlights. I thought we would get stranded and be found when the spring thaw came. Seeing the train blowing the snow out of the way like that was amazing. The trip to Phoenix ended up by going south and coming up from Tucson. All main roads north were closed.
