After a big 12-1 loss against Iceland, Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) takes Team USA into the locker room and tells them that he is very disappointed with them about it. Fulton Reed (Elden Henson) and Dean Portman (Aaron Lohr) then tell him that they saw him Saturday night out having ice cream with the female trainer for Iceland. Bombay tells them that it isn't any of their business about what he does during his free time. He then tells everyone to stay in their gear because he's making them have an extra practice after the game. Charlie Conway (Joshua Jackson) then reminds Bombay that they're supposed to be having fun, but he refuses to listen to reason.

coincidentally how Herb skated his boys in 1980 inspired what Bombay did here although Bombay should've prepared better for Iceland because clearly Team USA wasn't able 2 handle Iceland yet, Herb's boys deserved 2 be taught a lesson for paying more attention 2 hot Norwegian girls than 2 what was going on and resulted in a 3-3 tie.

It would have been better if Bombay had let Julie and Goldberg take turns with being goalie because Julie is just as good of a goalie as Goldberg. Not to mention she was one of the best little league hockey goalies in her home state of Maine.

That scene in D2 was also the same just like in Soccer this happen to Mexico when they got destroyed by chile at the Copa America centenario 2016 the score was 7 to 0 and the Mexican coach had all of his players to practice all night after loss to chile at the Quater Finals
I saw D2 the Mighty Ducks and yes that scene was upsetting and humiliated after 12 to 1 lost Against iceland team USA is trying their best to win the Gold

Sure Bombay was hard on them but it’s all Stansson’s fault for making his team overly aggressive and cheating. Bombay can be forgiven, it’s not his fault for losing going crazy with this, it’s definitely understandable (but probably not from the kids standpoint).
