80s were great too for kids movies. No politically correct bullshit and lots of imagination by the end of the 90s kids movies started getting a little too PC and unwatchable for adults but imo the ones from the late 70s-till late 90s were the best. And I say this as a 90s kid.
My cousin worked on this movie as the On Set Dresser. She told me it was illegal to drive a car on an actual pond in Minnesota, so they had to flood a parking lot to make it look like a pond to drive the limo on the ice for this scene

The OP is obviously misinformed. More likely the film crew flooded this particular parking lot because, 1) the location provided a nice backdrop of the Minneapolis skyline, and 2) having a sheet of ice only a foot or two thick would’ve been much safer for the actors involved in the scene than playing hockey on an actual pond or lake. No insurance company is going to sign off on that with a large group of child actors.

It would have to be mid January before there is thick enough ice to support the weight of a limo, and I've seen trucks go through the ice on Lake Mille Lacs as well as other lakes. But I've never seen anyone foolish enough to drive a vehicle onto a pond.
The one thing that really makes this one stand out above the other two is the dialogue is much edgier and dirty. This scene isn't the finest example of this but still kinda stands with the lines being said. It's funny too since this is one where the kids are at their youngest yet the language and innuendo is at its strongest of the trilogy.
I used to think that Averman was saying “You really suck” towards Bombay. Now I realise upon further inspection that he was actually referring to himself and the team. At least he was trying to warn Bombay that they weren’t very good LOL 😂

To be honest, I think Emilio and the kids acts pretty good. Even if the story is mostly cliché is still a pretty nice movie. Not a masterpiece of cours but it's entertaining. I've never been that kind of sport guy, not even as a kid, but even I liked this movie as a kid.
This is a hockey movie you can talk the whole family to, unlike Slap Shot. it was made in an effort for Disney to get a NHL team in Anaheim with the same name. This is all the marketing they did, when the team was sold the new owner shorten the name to the Ducks, probably because the old owners had the trademark on the previous nickname.
It started out cliche, but moving the most hated player of the opposing team to their team was a nice twist in the dynamic that sets it apart from other sports movies

I used to live in south Minneapolis right across the street from the park when the movie was being made. When I saw this movie 3 weeks ago, this was one of the scenes that made me laugh so hard because of the Rob Schneider impression and (even more so) the fact that these kids thought Gordon was a drug dealer LOL SMDH. I love how this movie's plot is very well executed despite its generic premise.
Interesting Fact: Jake Gyllenhaal was considered to play the role of Charlie Conway (he really wanted to) but he had to turn it down because his Parents for Forbid him from starring in it. For 2 Reasons, 1. It would've required him to be away for 2-3 Months (he was born and grew up in Los Angeles) and the movie was being filmed in Minnesota (he was 12 at the Time) and 2. They wanted him to focus on School and to get an Education. But I'll be honest it would've been cool to see Donnie Darko play some Hockey !!!
