After hearing a lot about how the Busa is turning more into a touring bike, I'm very curious how someone who rides a lot of Harleys feels about the comfort of a newer Busa. I started out with Harleys and years back I got a 94 VFR. I find the Honda handles and rides better than my 07 Dyna which I wasn't expecting. So I ride it all the time.
I have two Harleys, a hopped up old rigid mount Sportster 1200, and a 96cid Dyna super glide. Back in '05 I had a new Suzuki Bandit 1200. Neither one of my Harleys, not even the fairly quick Sportster, could compare with the acceleration of that Bandit 1200. That Suzuki was really, really quick, and top speed was far beyond what my Harleys could do. Plus the Bandit was comfortable and smooth, like electric motor type of smooth. It was a great bike and never had one single issue over the ten years I had it.
Seriously though bro! Testing on a highway? No no no no! Naughty man! Surely testing on a quiet but otherwise suitable road? That way if there's a catastrophic failure you can bounce around without all of the trucks etc..... Just an idea like broseph. Enjoy the bike. Its looking nearly as nice as my lambretta 🇬🇧
@@marcmo7138 Nope, they changed the belt drive to chain drive. The primary drive chain is in the case and runs from the motor to the transmission input.
@@geraldburmeister9637 Thats exactly what i said. The final drive is what drives the pully or sprocket on the wheel. I said they added (converted) a chain final drive. The factory primary is run by chain and the final drive by belt. Sorry if you misunderstood me .2018 FLHXS owner myself. Along with 3 other HD's.
Was helping a friend lift his dirt bike up some stairs as a teen and ended up pinned against a wall with a hot exhaust on my leg (was wearing shorts), wasnt the worst burn I've had though but was definitely the most painful
I did that almost 2 years ago on my sv1000 For some reason I touched the header after a ride bare fingered I heard that crack and sizzle when a piece of steak hits the hot pan

7:56-7:57, 7:59-8:02 (Rattling HARD there), 13:06-13:07, 14:19-14:20 are all detonation, not chain slap. Raise the fuel octane or decrease ignition advance.

Unlike the popular myth that high octane fuel is better fuel, it is actually less combustible. It takes more heat and better spark to ignite. So, in boosted applications (turbo & supercharger) where cylinder pressures on the compression stroke run super high, the fuel can actually spontaneously combust before the cylinder hits the end of that compression stroke and the spark plug fires. This is due to the air-fuel mixture heating up as it is compressed, and it is called pre-detonation or pinging. Higher octane fuel, being less flammable, curbs the fuels tendency to combust prematurely.
exactly, furthermore most turbo setups run lower compression than stock to avoid knock, with the additional compression from the turbo still bringing a big benefit
yup. there are old engines that can't even run on modern, relatively high-octane fuels because they don't have the compression to ignite them. Theoretically, you want to run the lowest octane you can get away with safely, to maximize efficiency.

The Busa and Harley racing was fake ASF, I know what exactly that exact Busa will do and Craig was letting you pull off, he might have given it 20% throttle tops.
I’m not going to say that Craig is the fastest guy around. He he says he was not holding back. However I would be interested in trying again with another rider on the busa or any other bike
@@ntdscherer yeah, even after they went down a gear and you saw Craig's tach again it was still at 2-2500 rpms, makes me doubt the authenticity of that race. Makes sense that they would do that considering Harley had just sent them a bunch of free stuff.
Your correct that the Busa is in the weakest part of its power curve below 3k rpms. The Harley is a torque monster down that low. I watched a dyno video of a new Hayabusa showing 186 hp and 107 lbs ft stock at the rear wheel. Built it made 225 hp and 125 tq and that's at over 10k rpms. That explains to me why the Harley is strongest at those low revs. The Busa needs to be in the top half of its Revs to make it even close.

If you want roll-ons to be fair you need to go in gears that end at the same speed - so on the Busa second is probably where fourth is on the Road King. Either way what you're looking for is when they hit the rev limiter the road speed should be as close as possible. If 2nd happens to end at 80mph for both thats great but if its 80mph on one and 120mph on the other you have 50% more reduction on the shorter geared bike.
You can clearly see the hayabusa wasn’t even giving it 1/3rd throttle, even at 45 MPH in 3rd or 4th gear the hayabusa barely even moved, I mean it increased to like 60 MPH in like 4 seconds lol. Idk why bikes and beards did that. Anyone that rides bikes could see he wasn’t giving it any throttle. But yeah 1st or 2nd gear is where the hayabusa should have been. It can do like 85 MPH in 1st gear.
@@davelowets I have a busa and yes - you would. It hits the limiter at around 85mph in first so anything below about 50mph and you want to be in 1st. They don't wheelie or spin rubber unless cold anyway so first is perfectly usable.

Will a bike with a blown up motor sitting in the shop really be any different than a bike with a non blown up engine sitting in the shop? Also, i destroyed him in the quarter on my Buell- you could say he was breaking it in and it wasnt set up well and he actually ran it really slow- and all of that IS true- but i still lined up with a Harley Destroyer and won 🤣🤣😂😂😅😅

I put my thumb on the manifold and started the bike, it burned my print off before the bike started, the first noise the motor made was enough to burn me, the 1st puff was it for my thumb print for real, that was on a honda 250x, instantly melted my finger.

@@noneyabizz8337 I don't know, I've never owned a POS Harley. My ZX-14R run's like a top, fast as a missile, has 25k miles on it and has never broke down 1 time. I have plenty of mods, looks amazing. 100x better than some POS Harley crapper. This POS broke down on the dyno. Using that POS Harley engine wasn't worth it FREE. That's what this bike reminds me of pretty much, a blood turd (a black smelly big turd that's mostly clotted rotten putrid blood).
If you gentlemen would really like to experience power and speed. Turbocharge the Hayabusa. Once you experience a Japanese engine of that size with a turbo. Smiles from ear to ear.

Wasn't my finger prints but me and 2 friends all have a burn on the inside of our right wrist messing with an exhaust. Even though when I did it I warned both of them... especially when my 1st friend did it we were like dude watch out and of course 2nd friend did it anyway
I laugh at people who do this to Harleys. Why? Because they ride around trying to race everyone on the street and talk about how superior their bike is! Funny thing is that you can throw money at any bike and do the same thing, BUT it will be faster AND cheaper!
V-band clamp = tap it all the way around while tightening. Also i aplly copper anti-seize on the inside of clamp very lightly to lube. We been using these in the trucking world for longer than i been alive
Hyabusa is geared to 180+, would be in 1st or 2nd gear pull at those speeds, like any big 4cyl,,such a strange comparison. 🤷♂️ that said love the RK 😎
I tuned a Trask Turbo System on a Screamin Eagle VRod FIFTEEN YEARS AGO (Trask even share my short, terribly low resolution dyno pulls video way back then). It made 168Hp with only 109LbFt Torq. but it was a 100% Fun, 2nd Gear Roll-On (and most of the way through 3rd) Tire Smoker 😜 And JFYI Folks, the Gen-3 Busas (with full exhaust system) only makes 185Hp, 110LbFt (194Hp, 112LbFt with tuning) so that's another reason the HD smoked that "Showroom Stock Busa".
I don't even ride a bike, but this has quickly become my favorite channel.

When you guys were racing with Craig on the hayabusa, Craig was starting his pulls at like 2500 rpms so no wonder the Harley kept walking away
I was thinking it must either be that or he just wasn't trying. 188 hp and 580 pounds should be able to beat even that Road King.

The busa has lift control along with TC, launch control and a QS. It can be set up as a drag strip beast.
Craig never actually opened the Busa up, he just sat and left the Harley take off.

I put my thumb on the manifold and started the bike, it burned my print off before the bike started, the first noise the motor made was enough to burn me, the 1st puff was it for my thumb print for real, that was on a honda 250x, instantly melted my finger.

LOL A Harley that goes sub 10 seconds... yeah OK but I can do that with my stock ZX-14R without it breaking down BEFORE IT WAS EVER RIDDEN.

@@noneyabizz8337 I don't know, I've never owned a POS Harley. My ZX-14R run's like a top, fast as a missile, has 25k miles on it and has never broke down 1 time. I have plenty of mods, looks amazing. 100x better than some POS Harley crapper. This POS broke down on the dyno. Using that POS Harley engine wasn't worth it FREE. That's what this bike reminds me of pretty much, a blood turd (a black smelly big turd that's mostly clotted rotten putrid blood).

ZX 14 is currently my ride best bike I've ever owned also comfortable as hell and I'm 6.4

Wasn't my finger prints but me and 2 friends all have a burn on the inside of our right wrist messing with an exhaust. Even though when I did it I warned both of them... especially when my 1st friend did it we were like dude watch out and of course 2nd friend did it anyway
A normal ducati or BMW has the same HP ,or my old Bush had 236 Hp without any turbo ,American bikes are r......
I laugh at people who do this to Harleys. Why? Because they ride around trying to race everyone on the street and talk about how superior their bike is! Funny thing is that you can throw money at any bike and do the same thing, BUT it will be faster AND cheaper!
V-band clamp = tap it all the way around while tightening. Also i aplly copper anti-seize on the inside of clamp very lightly to lube. We been using these in the trucking world for longer than i been alive
Hyabusa is geared to 180+, would be in 1st or 2nd gear pull at those speeds, like any big 4cyl,,such a strange comparison. 🤷♂️ that said love the RK 😎
Yea my r1 on stock gearing does 103 in first so I would imagine busa gearing is similar

I tuned a Trask Turbo System on a Screamin Eagle VRod FIFTEEN YEARS AGO (Trask even share my short, terribly low resolution dyno pulls video way back then).
It made 168Hp with only 109LbFt Torq. but it was a 100% Fun, 2nd Gear Roll-On (and most of the way through 3rd) Tire Smoker 😜
And JFYI Folks, the Gen-3 Busas (with full exhaust system) only makes 185Hp, 110LbFt (194Hp, 112LbFt with tuning) so that's another reason the HD smoked
that "Showroom Stock Busa".
