- This video illustrates all characters from the original Killer Instinct and how they've evolved between the SNES, Arcades, N64 and Xbox/PC versions, excluding the gameboy & gameboy color series. This include small snipets of gameplay, but primarily showing how the graphics and "ultra combos" have evolved from KI1, KI2/KIG, up to the Xbox/PC reboot of Killer Instinct. What I love about Killer Instinct is the combo system is so unique that no other fighting game has and the announcer is intense and hype af. My compliments to the uploader. 👌

The sound affects is what made the first 2 classics the screaming and the sound of the hits was crazy ki3 missed the most important part

The superior graphics, special effects, sound effects and unique character line up
and even animations are what made the first one so great. They definitely got kI right the first time. It was like every great fighting game rolled in one. I agree the 3rd kI missed the mark on a lot of things. It had the worst graphics out of all the next gen fighters. No stage Enders and horrible ultimates. They need another kI that reintroduces everything that made kI great. The game needs a graphic overhaul more than anything
Mr.Tweezy007 knock it off. Single digit iq man. The fact that orchid and Kim wu went from resembling Janet to looking like Drag queens alone debunks you’re whole argument. New ki isn’t even really next gen. It was originally made for the 360. If you only had a brain 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can sit and watch ultra combos from the first ki1 all day it was way more intense the music was better
lucci B exactly it’s not the same now a days. The transitions into combos used to be so smooth especially the ultras
7:44 Glacius's OG KI Ultra remains my favorite to this DAY. He was smacking the sh*t out people with that 'Liquid-Metal Terminator' ice pick!

Ki 1 arcade was the smoothest best sounding fighting game ever. Imho.. I was addicted to shoving quarters into the MK2 machine until I heard Ultra Combo in the arcade for the first time....
If you were good enough to actually pull one off.... not an easy feat.

Spinal reminds of when those two dudes was trying to fight Freddy Kruger's skeleton on nightmare on elm Street 3. And those skeletons on army of darkness aka evil dead 3 which are both hilarious. And chief thunder looks like that wooden Indian from creepshow 2.
I will say though Thunder is one of my favorite characters

Yassss!! I studied this game day and n iui ght to where nobody I ever played could come close to beating me. Even the better gamers would try and I'd bust that combo breaker immediately
Orchids ultra was always my favorite! I studied all the combos!! I remember I was 19 and would have the younger kids watch me play and be like "how are you doing all that!?" Felt like a game god lol

Thunder was mine
I was 10 when KI hit the arcade. All the allowance money I lost to the teenagers. I'd watch them play each other wait for the best one to go on a streak usually the only one capable of pulling off consistent ultra combos and id intentionally pick fulgore just to hear the lovely sound of him getting his ass kicked by jago....i never stood a chance but I loved every second of it.
And I thought I was a thug when I accidentaly did Master combos...
This was a nice blast from the past!! The 1st fighting game that I truly got into!! Had a friend bring his KI cartridge to my house in 93 and said check this out. I had already played it once but didnt know what magic this game had in store till he just whooped my ass and I was in awe... like wayaminute..how tf you just do all that. He then showed me and I ran with it!!! Played from time I got up till I went to bed and even on work days I'd come home on my lunch break with my buddy and play!! Anyone who studied this game like I did could do em all with any character, but theres always just that 1 character that you where just beast with... for me, it was always Orchid!!!

I don't like how they sort of stop and pose in the middle of an Ultra combo in the newer game. I also don't like that thumping sound that keeps getting higher and higher.
I'm not a fan either. I prefer the older ultra combo styles myself

Killer Instinct was so underrated within the fighting games. Honestly the first one was always the best to me.
Sabrewolf is one of my favorite characters of all time. In ANY genre of fighting games. KI2 was this games peak imo

I know it's nostalgia effect, but the SNES one will always be my favourite in terms of everything: pacing, sound, the "ULTRAAAAA, ULTRAAAAA" instead of "ULTRAAAA COMBOOOOO", and everything. The original arcade version comes just right after it.

I still remember playing KI in the arcade when I first discovered Chief Thunders 999 hit combo. I could start from one side then constant air pop till they're trapped in the corner. The game doesn't end till they hit the ground so I would destroy a single person for 10 minutes while others laughed. Nowadays they would get offended, give the other guy a participation trophy while he screams at the sky, identifies as a woman and then cries in the his/her/it's safe space with crayons.
Right. These days, in a real tournament, you probably would get disqualified if the opponent gets offended for losing.

To think that the final bosses in the arcade KI games (Eyedol and Gargos, respectively) didn't even have an Ultra combo. Then came KI2013, Season 3, and now BOTH of them have their own Ultras.
ShiitakeWarrior I will say I was extremely surprised they both had ultra combos or even the fact both existed in the same game at the same time.
I remember winning as sabrewulf in the in KI 1 and never touching him again bc his victory screen scared the shit out of me... good times

:) Even though I was born in 1998, I actually remember watching/playing this with my bigger brothers on the first 2 classic games on the Super NES and N64 and those were the fun memories. I wasn't really into the new one on the Xbox One, but I did play the arcade version of KI on it.

Killer Instinct would be perfect crossover with Mortal Kombat. That would be impeccable. I just hope Killer Instinct makes some new characters. Plus all those cool new characters that MK has put in would be so legendary and profitable 🔥

In Killer Instinct 1 I made it my purpose to learn everyone in the game including Eyedol! I was 2 years old when this came out on arcade and I stayed on it! This is the first game that I ever played and ever had on Super Nintendo at 3 years old! I randomly found out everyone's moves with no internet or anything! I became amazing in this game with everyone! I play the other ones as well yet I personally enjoy KI 1 the best overall! From the characters, danger moves, ultras, combo breakers, shadow moves, doing moves faster for more points and damage! I can go on and on about KI! Also a couple fighting games ripped off of KI or just added their own spins to it as well lol!

New KI: dosent even compared the first 2 and when i first saw it. I said "too much dubstep was envolved, and it wasn't as fast as the OG's"

I downloaded KI arcade to a usb thumbdrive and took it to computer class, and played it in front of everybody there.
Needless to say when I was inputting buttons on the keyboard at blazing speed with cinder I made my first ultra in that game and everybody spun in there chairs.

I never played KI on the arcade, only on the Snes. I feel like I missed a lot. But the toned down version has it's benefit. Like the anouncer just sayin Ultra (with the reverb) does something to me. But from the look of this the arcade versions are the superior ones.
Arcade versions were good but the SNES version was great considering the hardware at the time. Definitely ahead of it's time in my opinion.
They are for sure. Those were the days when arcade versions were far superior to their console ports. Killer Instinct was a true revolution in the graphic department, it was King in the arcade rooms.

A lesser version of the Arcade version for sure..yet it is astounding just how good that 16bit port of KI actually was. Epic in its own right!
Hey guys. The point of the video isn't to show who can get the "highest combo". The video explicitly stated that this video was a compilation of ultra combos, not compilation of the highest ultra combo hits. That would have taken entirely too long.

I know you can because killer instinct combos have a flow to them because most of the work is done with the auto doubles and shadow combos.

Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Unfortunately I couldn't find a legitimate copy as the sites I normally would go to were getting sued and taken down by, I suppose, Nintendo or whoever else were targeting these roms/emulation sites at the time.
