Her majesty has so much grace & humility. A number of years ago my late father wrote to her. He didn't receive an immediate response (which he did not expect), so much to his surprise when she did reply she apologised for the late response which was due to the vast amount of correspondence she receives. Absolute class!
Iam not Persian I’m Greek But reading the story of the Pahlavi family and the tragic loss of Farrah’s two children the only thing I have to say is my sincere condolences It’s not about money and titles We are all human beings with emotions and feelings Life is unpredictable no one is safe or previliged We are here one day the next day we are gone I’m hoping that one day Democracy will return to Iran
I hope that Iran will one day be a democracy. The word democracy comes from Greek because, of course, Greece was the first country to have a democratic government. It only included men, women and slaves weren't a part of it, but it was the beginning of democracy, which is the most important thing. Iran has NEVER been a democracy, the Shah was a dictator who had absolute control over his country. The left wing media in the west didn't like him very much, and I remember seeing an article about him in the 1970's, in the satirical English magazine: 'Private Eye' in which they called him "The Shit of Persia," instead of The Shah of Persia, but, as I said in a previous comment, the Shah was far, far better for Persia/Iran than the religious fundamentalists who overthrew him. Love from Amanda in Australia
She seemed like a remarkable and dedicated woman with a warm heart. Although the Shah spent money lavishly, it seems, I can't help but think that Iran was much better off under them rather than the religious dictatorship they've had since, especially the women. I pray that they can overthrow that oppressive regime.

Reza Shah was a Puppet for western countries....they protected him to exploit Iran ressources ....that's the truth ...yu won't like to have a sovereign who work for other countries interest .... Oil crisis did not affect us as a low income family in 1970s because Iran is an oil producing country. We suffered after the Islamic revolution, though.
Beautiful people. As a child i do remember some of this on the news. I never really paid much attention to any of it. Now I'm fascinated by the history.
It's incredible to see how westernised Persia was under the Shah in those days. If only Persia had remained that way and the religious fundamentalists hadn't destroyed such a lovely country. When my mother was alive she was very close friends with a Persian lady who had worked for the Shah. She had to flee the country when the Ayatollah came to power and took Persia back in time by about a thousand years, because she was on the Ayatollah's death list. He murdered thousands of people simply because they had worked for the previous government under the Shah. I don't think many young people today realise how different countries like Iran and Afghanistan used to be before fundamentalism took hold. If you look at old photos from the 1950's and 60's of places like Tehran, Kabul you'll see most of the people wearing western clothes and you won't see any women wearing the full black hijab, or indeed any veil at all. I know the Shah wasn't perfect but he was far, far better than what was to come.
I can recommend the film The Queen and I, made by an Iranian-Swedish female filmmaker. Farah has had a very tragic life, with two of her children committing suicide, and her husband being disgraced
No one can deny that Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi was married to three very beautiful women. No doubt, many men envied him. All of his wives were breathtakingly beautiful, every single one of them.

Iran has completely lost its identity with the loss of the Shah and His Empress. It was Persia, the Kingdom of Persia, of Cyrus, a land with a history, and national identity. I see many years later, a people with no roots, that is foundering under a Religious dictatorship that doesnt allow its people its past. The loss of tgd Shah, was a loss of Persia. In the Kingdom of Persia, there was a sense of great pride, a oneness, a cohesiveness. It is not cohesive anymore. The people are floundering around like fish out of water. Its just so sad.
