Guyanese Burnt Sugar Cakes

  • This recipe brings back childhood memories of school days , buying sugar cake from the canteen and enjoying it with friends
    Ingredients
    1 Coconut 🥥 about 3 cups or coconut flakes
    1 1/4 Cups brown sugar
    1 Cup condensed milk
    2 Tbs fresh ginger
    3 Tbs butter
    1/4 Tsp 5 spice
    1/4 Water

    I’m from T&T and this is not how my family did it. However, I’m going to try it your way, I like the way it looks. Our Sugar-cake is usually more firmer, but not hard. Love this, thanks.

    I made this today, it was tasty but it didn't get hard do you have to squeeze out the milk from the coconut?

    Very good recipe Ash. Memories of good old school days. I also like it chewy. How do I get it harder if I need to made it in little flat round pieces.

    Mu sugar cake got crumbly. Is it because it was overcooked

      That’s because you over cooked it hun next time add it back to the stove and add some milk to keep it moist
