Thank you for this interesting and well made review! I have Vipers in 8x42 and they are relly great binos in their price range! The only issue, for me very annoying, is the light through the oculars in difficult light conditions: especially with artificial light, there are too many reflections.
Vortex tends to do that to people, I love their stuff too, I own almost a product of each type they own, not because it was given to me (it wasnt) but because they are the best company to buy from.
He says "I know this sounds like a Vortex commercial but it's not" check out my vortex hoodie, vortex hat, vortex tripod, etc. Yeah dude ok. I'm sure it's great glass which is why I clicked this video but good grief man.
Not to mention he's "reviewing" a product with HD glass but from the onset he admits he doesn't even know what that is. Could only go downhill from there.

Great review. Thanks for doing a field test. These reviews that do unboxings are worthless. Beyond the website, looking for a Vortex Viper riflescope that does very well hunting in LOW LIGHT. Which scope that doesntt push the high end is best ?
VIP warrenty alone is worth the purchase. i have the razor hd spotting scope and hade the eyepiece loce break, my fault. I brought them back to where i bought them and since they were a vortex VIP dealer and since i had the reciept they gave me a brand new spotter right of the shelve in exchange for the flawed one. that right is customer service and means i dont see myself buying any other glass.
may be a little late but everything over 12x magnification you usually need a tripod for, if you don´t have the hand steadiness of a surgeon. sometimes you even need a tripod for lower magnification. it depends on how clearly you want to see the object. a 15x binocular you definitely need a tripod for if you actually want to see what it is you´re looking at.
I am interested in buying the vortex viper HD 15x50 binoculars. Do you need a tripod to effectively use them? I have never used binoculars of such high power before so I don't know what I am getting myself into.
The correct answer is, infinity - as long as the object is big enough for you to see. You can admire the moon which is around 384,000 km away - with an 8x binocular. Maybe a better way to phrase this question is, how much detail I can see with this binocular?

amen on their warranty. I know own 4 vortex products because of that warranty.

Yes, at 15x you need a tripod.
Or look for a binocular with image stabilization.
