610 always struck a good balance between actually being contained and still being threatening, avoid both the trap of "Why should I still be scared?" and "Why hasn't this ended the world yet?"
GriffinPilgrim it really depend were it is has been place if it been place in a poulated area then its gonna infect alot of people but in a small isolated area then it can be somewhat contained but that area will be in like a quarantined
Exactly, 610 is genuinely terrifying and not something to Foundation can just casually destroy if they want but because of where to author placed it, in an isolated area that can be cut off from the rest of the world allows to Foundation to contain it. There's also enough ambiguity in the logs to suggest that that there's a lot left the Foundation doesn't know yet.
+backburner infernus Because it's Secure Contain Protect, not Destroy Burn Kill. The Foundation only destroys something if it's that or the world ends or if the item/entity/location is too expensive and/or morally repugnant to contain.
I mean, even if they glassed it, it's *underground.* It's not going to be easy to get into the underground and burn every inch of flesh, and this shit seems to grow anywhere as long as it has flesh to consume. Keter class SCP's are supposed to be understood and then killed as soon as possible, but this is something that can't be killed so easily since it seems to grow everywhere and is really good at just fucking killing everything. And they have to kill it in a way that doesn't cause a stir, since it's all hush hush. No nukes or bombs, that'd cause an international incident and draw attention.
Sounds like when I was a teen. My face was always swollen and red with large boil-like acne. Glad thats over. No more blood, pus and gunk shooting out of my face and all over the bathroom mirror, the walls and the ceilings.
Some of the lakes in this region of Russia were used as cheap storage for massive amounts of hot nuclear waste from poorly equipped cold war era facilities. In standard form, the USSR did not warn the public about these dangerous sites for many years. As such one can imagine unfortunate villagers entering these waters only to never emerge again. Over time their bodies would sink to the bottom of the lake where more and more corpses would accrue due to the sterile, anoxic nature of the polluted water preventing decomposition. The end result: a growing pile of preserved flesh baking in extremely high levels of radiation for decades. I think I understand the origin of this SCP.
In my SCP story universe thing. This is near the location of the Massive Tsar Bomba. The Russian Government covered up that there were villages nearby years later. The radioactive material had also done this kind of damage the lakes etc And alot of humans were lost here. Also I like to think that there was a prison nearby but instead of going through the effort of moving all immates Russian Military shot them all and dumped a few thousand bodies into the lake. And thus links back to SCP-610s file. This is just what I like to think lol
Miguel Pereira thank you for clarification. To be specific I mean the 001 involving the wood cabin in the endless hill. And that is completely true there is no cannon other then the details and descriptions of SCPS. Some scps also do not exist in cannon. The reasoning for this is the fact that there are multiple universes in SCP that all differ in ways unimaginable. In one universe 151 SCP-173s kill 682. In other universes 173 was unable to clone himself and never found out how to in the first place. So you are right there is no such thing as Cannon in the SCP multiverse
I think the Burning man (SCP 457) should be dispatched into SCP610. Oh boy, would he have fun. It ain't like hes organic material either, he'd be fine!
Same problem. There'd be too much SCP-409 as a result, making it impossible to contain. Note how it turns anything that isn't granite into more SCP-409. Including most of the planet if it ever touches the ground... which is inevitable.
SCP 457 duplicates when burning enough material. All iterations of SCP 457 are hostile to one another. Causing them to consume or extinguish each other. So he could never be too large, pretty convenient. While they are hostile to each other the sheer amount of organic material presented by SCP 610 may be sufficient for SCP 457 to avoid conflict with other SCP 457.

Oh sweet Jesus, another nightmarish SCP, made tasteful by your incredible style of reading these docs. 53mins, what an absolute treat! This one has the right amounts of weirdness, originality, inexplicability and pure horror to be an excellent SCP. So many questions... Although I do wonder if some viral research would be effective on this. Since most entities are interconnected, a bioweapon engineered towards SCP610 tissue could prove effective. Might just as well be a bad idea, seeing that 610 absorbs all life... Maybe a bacteria spreading within 610 that produces flammable substances, allowing for far easier dispatch of 610 that would be far more prone to being burned, and burns transmitting possibly through the entire entity to the core if the bacterium spreads effectively enough within 610 and is allowed to work for long enough. Then again, that has many points of failure too. In any case, a fascinating story. Thank you so much for reading this!

After a possible full-scale quarantine (this extends to underground), a maximum powered Tsar Bomba is to be prepared at the center of SCP-610. Before detonation, the underground should be filled with as much napalm as possible. Prior to detonation, a 12 hour bombardment with an Orbital Kinetic Bombardment System should be enacted. The quarantine walls should be able to resist the Tsar Bomba explosion.
From the desk of Dr. Richard Tact, SCP Foundation Ethics Committee Advisor: I would like to propose introducing a sample or subject of converted SCP 217 matter into an instance of SCP 610. My hypothesis is that given 610 is a form of corrupted human flesh, the conversion process of 217 would result in a reaction rendering all connected Instances of 610 converted, and thereby potentially nullified. Of course, conducting such an experiment would have its risks, specifically given acquiring a sample of 610 in order to experiment on using this procedure; perhaps if we could isolate a mobile instance of infected 610, in the presence of a converted 217 subject, an appropriate video feed via portable robotic drone would provide worthwhile examination of the result.

WastedWizard I bet a certain hard to kill reptile would disagree with you.

Richard Tact, SCP Foundation Ethics Committee Advisor:
I would like to propose introducing a sample or subject of converted SCP 217 matter into an instance of SCP 610.
