She should have had everyone wear black and white and she wear that red dress! Then she would have definitely stood out and it would have been so enchantingly beautiful!
I had everyone wear white 🤍 to my white wedding. My hub & I wore blue 💙
Never understood why the bride wouldn’t just look at black ball gowns ! 5 grand could get you a beautiful ball gown !
I was coming to say the same thing! Just buy a black evening dress! It will be less expensive without the "bridal" label.
@@krusticle-1 absolutely , I’m in the Uk but have worked in retail and at times , high end . That would be more than enough for a truly gorgeous gown 👌
Yes true
My thoughts exactly. The world is full of endless black party gown options in different price ranges, from basic and affordable, elaborate and couture to thrift store incredible vintage finds. Why would anyone look for a black gown in bridal saloon is beyond me. The same goes for any dress that is not in typical bridal color. With that budget, she could have so much more options. Nothing wrong with this dress, for sure, Pnina knows how to construct the dress to fit the body well, but it's way too simple for that price tag.
@@blueice011 couldn’t agree more , especially with regards to vintage. I bought a fantastic 1950s ball gown , beautifully boned and so elegant for a ball , it was 50 pounds ( I’m from 🇬🇧) to have the same dress made today would cost thousands ! Wish say yes to the dress would do more pre loved dresses to suit the financial climate !
There are much better places to look for a black evening gown than in a bridal salon.
This! When women want to get married in colored dresses, they should visit salons that make evening gowns
But then she wouldn't have been on t.v.
@@magnoliaflowers4861Exactly!😂
Yeah, well she wanted a wedding gown, not a ball gown
The show had plenty black dresses out of her price range
For someone who wanted to think "out of the box" and get a black dress, why the heck did she put herself in the epitome of bridal salons that is flush with _white_ dresses? Talk about putting yourself smack dab in the middle of the box! She should've gone to someplace other than a bridal salon. I'm glad she found something she liked though!
I completely agree with that sentiment. It probably is all about this idea of the experience, which is very heightened in Kleinfeld since it is expected for such a pricey wedding boutique.
I'm glad she gave the red gown a second chance, because I thought it looked fabulous on her and went with the mask and theme beautifully!
I like the red dress but when they added the black tulle she looked like she might work in a saloon in the Old West.
Exactly. It changed completely the elegant Venetian look to Old West theme.
Yeah, it was pretty on its own.
Reminds me of Halloween
I agree with all the other responses! A saloon dress came immediately to mind. They took a beautiful red dress, that needed no tweeking, and made it look cheap, at least to me. However, she was happy with it, and that's the only thing that counts.
Like a Can Can girl..
This makes me so glad that bridal salons have improved since this was recorded (probably 2010/11). There's nothing wrong with color and the whole white thing really just began with Victoria. Let brides justbe happy, especially with the money Kleinfelds asks.
It's not about color. Any color. it's looking for the dress that is not stereotypical bridal wear in an overpriced bridal salon. Why on Earth would anyone do that when every semi-decent store carries black cocktail dresses in all colors imaginable and especially black? She could find spectacular black dress in specialized thrift stores in NY or LA, designer vintage couture unique piece with that budget. Just don't get the logic in looking for a black dress at Kleinfeld's. They are overpriced to begin with being part of bridal wear and being bespoke color wise. With so many options elsewhere, it's simply odd. They can't offer her more than few options and she opted for one of them - with everything that's out there...? I don't get it.
My mom got married back in the 50's and wore a light blue lace cocktail dress. My parents joked that people assumed that she was expecting was the reason she didn't wear white. I didn't show up until over a year later. She just wanted to be practical and wore a dress that she could use later on.
They mostly stock based on demand, not tradition. The majority of dresses are white because that's what most of the brides go for. Now that more colored dress requests are on the rise they adjust accordingly.
I got married in a black dress and it was gorgeous
You can have a simple dress but accessorizing can really make you look "unique" like you want
True to some extent just like what we see on the episodes with Lori. Let’s jack her up and voila.
Yeah but the accessories can destroy a budget.
@@mcrchickenluvrWell, accessories are more likely to be worn multiple times throughout the rest of their lives, especially for things like earrings or necklaces that will always fit regardless of weight gain or weight loss. Not everyone can still fit in their wedding dresses as they get older or go thru other body changes. While some brides do rewear or repurpose their wedding dresses, there are others who just wear it once & keep it in the closet. Spending more on accessories rather than the dress may be a better long term investment. Also, one can find good accessories that are inexpensive & don’t destroy the budget. Some may want to pay more for precious gems or real gold. Others may prefer imitation gems or imitation gold.
Agreed. As someone who grew up poor, and is broke, yet had a wedding, (and is goth) you can find creative ways to have budget-friendly accessories. You don't have to spend $$$$ on accessories.@@purplemosquito86
I don’t understand why you said it like that? Some people just have preferences
Awwwww I teared up when she explained about her house and how he proposed to her at her very lowest/worst.
Same. What a beautiful moment. People really are more important than anything else at the end of the day.
She was ahead of her time..now there are a ton of black bridal dress options. I do love it with the black tulle underneath.
I think the red looks way better with the mask than a black dress would.
I think the same)
They should have showed her champagne rose gold beaded detailing fitted dressed, I feel like it would have gone well with the masquerade theme. Could have maybe changed her mind about the black
I was thinking the same.
Why don't they just go down to the bridesmaid floor/section, and dress it up with accessories.
I think if she had gone to David's Bridal, she would have found a black bridal gown, they have tons of them for under $1500, very elegant. I will never understand why Pnina Tornai gowns are so expensive.
Pnina clearly has dealings with Kleinfeld so they really give her dresses the hard sell. Which is a shame as so many other, better designers don’t get as much promotion.
Part of what you pay for when you're buying a designer wedding dress is the privilege of having the designer's name on your dress.
I DO respect Randy and Camille for being honest with the bride about the limited options they have for black gowns, and tried to make the one dress that WAS in her budget work for her, rather than try to sell her a black gown that was way out of her budget. And the bride looked stunning in what they came up with.
Maybe they should carry a few more in different colors. More brides are looking for black. Aren't a lot of Asian weddings in red?!
This was over 10 years ago..they definitely have more colour now
A red dress is often worn at the reception. If there's a church ceremony, that's where a bride will wear white.
I preferred the dress before the tulle was added at the bottom. But it fit her beautifully and made her happy.
Cheers!
Loved the red dress with the carnival mask. Perfect for both her and her theme.
I would embrace that red dress glamour _in_ _an_ _instant!_ My question is: why are the black ball gowns more expensive than bridal gowns?
I'm going to guess that the black dresses are more expensive based on the designer and the embellishments
Price for dying it, plus custom what ever additional (jewels, lace, tulle, anything else you would add to the dress would also have to be dyed specifically or made special to match up with the dress. Then (this is just assuming) but once everything is made then it has to be sewed together. Then shipped to the store from anywhere in the world because it's a luxury store.
Unfortunately, what she wants is a custom dress for off the rack prices and frankly I don’t think that can happen.
For her time period, it wouldn't have been that difficult to get a custom dress for that price point. But me, I make my own clothes, so it confounds me when people spent thousands on brand name dresses when I see a dress and can deconstruct it easily.
"I don't want to be traditional, I want to be original, I want to be myself" How many brides have said the same?
Well, here's an idea: go to a tailor and design your own dress in lime green with orange polka dots. 😉
I've been watching these episodes, and wondering why not go have custom dress made. Or is it in the US custom made dress even more expensive, even when it's not made by a designer? In my country, brides, mother of the brides & bridesmaid, usually have custom made dress. Most people go to a seamstress to have their custom dresses made. Price wise, dresses by seamstress usually less expensive than dresses by designer. But, the dress would be exactly to our liking & budget. In my country, those that go to designers usually have a higher budget.
@@miamiranti9885 I think it's risky to custom make a dress because many brides don't know what exactly they want or what really suits them. There's the possibility that they design something and like it on paper but not like it when they're actually wearing it - happens to me a lot when I buy clothes online without trying them first.
Maybe they are lazy and too ideal to the point that they don’t know exactly what they want? My former friend had her Vietnamese bridal gown custom made for only $500. She said the designer just asked her questions and designed one from scratch just for her and she liked it.
Depend on a Vietnamese woman to know exactly how to make ANY woman look BEAUTIFUL!
@@mezzogal Never thought of this point of view, make sense though. I've had some custom made dresses as part of the bride / groom family, because in my country it is customary for the bride / groom immediate family (or sometimes aunts / uncles / cousins) to wear matching / colour coordinated outfits. When we go to the seamstress there will be several fittings (in my experience 3-4 times). When we come for a fitting, that is when we can ask the seamstress for changes if required. So usually, the dress will come out exactly to our liking.
I’m glad she found what she loved! That’s what it’s all about 😊
Wearing color is common for asians/indians.
Wish they had better options in color
She was so fashion forward and way ahead of her time. Now a days all bets are off with color. Go her!
The red was perfect. She stood out more. Black would have been pretty. But not like wow!!
I just realized that you could technically just get a white wedding dress and dye it black or whatever color you want. maybe ask for a extra piece of fabric to test the dye first
That red dress on her was gorgeous!!!
Totally agree 💯💯💯
That was a Pnina Tornai? I'm surprised. It wasn't her usual see-through negligee gown. Quite nice. Though, I think a bit of black lace embellishment that matches the masquerade mask might have elevated it more. It looked a bit boring in the end clip at the location.
That was what I thought too. Pnina’s dresses are usually very ugly but that one was decent.
That’s because this is an old clip from 2010. Her style has gone from classic stylings to streetwalker glam in the last 5 years. 😂
I am so sick of the naked dresses.
The red dress is gorgeous❣️
Wouldnt you think a place like this with prior knowledge would have gotten more black dresses in.
After seeing the set up n the guests black would hv made more sense Randy should hv tried harder to get her one. Red looked nyc but someone could hv easily thought she was one of the guests.
My wedding dress was red and i had black shoes with black and red jewlery, my husbands vest was red and black...obviously our wedding colors were red and black 😂🖤❤️
I don't know what year this was filmed but today I see more black wedding dresses and they're stunning
"I want to be unique," but there was another red gown a guest was wearing. 😂
They should have said "we have black dresses, but they are out of your price range you stated. Would you like to up your price point and try one on, or another venue. I feel like they forced her into that style of dress. That's sad because if I ever...my dress WILL BE BLACK!!! 💯 AND MY CONSULTANT BETTER NOT BRING ME ANY DRESS IN ANY COLOR BUT BLACK.
The red was a bad choice for her skin tone. Also, she clashed with her groom’s kilt. The mask with an understated colored dress with black and gold beading would have been spectacular.
There are plenty of fabulous black ball gowns out there for $5k or less.
*that*... makes an unbelievable statement!! brilliant red, peeks of black... and.. if everyone else at this amazing party, is in black/understated colors... she would absolutely be the centerpiece star!! amazing choice!! (my dress was red, btw hehe)
Love the red one with the black; it was beautiful on her.
I wore a beautiful black dress with colored embroidery for my wedding and was very happy with my choice.
I love that the groom was wearing a kilt
My guy wore pumas with the kilt?!
Cracks me up how people think they're so different. They're not, especially the more different they think they are. Anyway, this is in 2013, was featured in a blog and an article, saying basically what we saw here. She's a showroom textile designer.
I agree. People who are actually different don't have to try to be different. They just are. Actually, there are a ton of unusual dresses out there, so brides really don't have to try so hard!
In shops with gotic clothes you can find beautifull dramatic black wedding dresses for less money.
When you’re going on a tv show it isn’t about finding a wedding dress 😆
I love how scandalized they seem that someone would want a dress that isn't white. White wasn't even "traditional" in western culture until Queen Victoria wore a white dress and many cultures around the world prefer a dress with color. I know this was filmed years ago so taste and fashions have changed a lot.
To be fair, this is an older episode. There wasn’t much of a selection back then for non-traditional dresses.
I just learned that fact a few months ago. I was watching wedding dresses throughout history documentary. It was very informative. Especially in 60s when the hem line got shorter lol
The bride looks stunning in the red dress, with black trim and mask.
I’m having a hard time thinking black wedding gown. Maybe add black accessories. I guess I’m more traditional thinking!
Most people would not be able to please a person who uses the words "I expect..." People have ideas of what they want but to be inflexible generally leaves a person without what they are seeking
I guess I just like the “old white dress”.
It’s not just exactly what I thought I’d be wearing - It’s just not exactly who I thought I’d be marrying.
Well maybe she needs to rethink, what color she wants.
😂I would love a black dress if I got married again!! I wore the white gown before!! Or a blood red gown!!😂😂
This dress is amazing on her....but it needs a jeweled belt 😍
You're going to the wrong place for a black wedding dress. You need to look at gothic shops for black dresses or look at ball gowns.
I have a huge black dress (by Sinister) for my wedding. It only cost £300. I went to a gothic shop for it.
Black changes the whole feel from a wedding to a funeral.😳
That black at the bottom made it stunning
She looked 🔥🔥🔥 in the red
Why do brides who don't want a "traditional" wedding gown even bother going to a bridal shop?
I think they want to be able to brag that they found a dress at a big name bridal boutique.
Why coming to Kleinfeld when looking for a ball gown??
she didn’t go to the right store she should’ve gone to a prom dress store and try on black ones
“I would like to see it in black.” Yes, we all would, hon but they don’t have a sample dress in black and they can’t make from scratch in ten minutes for her to try on lol
You can be unusual and unique without wearing black! 😂
So?
I do see a shift happening with women wanting colored wedding dresses. Wedding dresses weren’t always white but the large majority of wedding dresses are of course white so I’d probably shop somewhere else if I was wanting a colored wedding dress but maybe the wedding dress industry will change with time to have a wider variety of colors.
The consultant needs a makeup consultation regarding her lips and how to properly line them. Sooo distracting.
Absolutely! She’s been doing that for years. Looks awful.
Seriously!
Maybe she just wants to look like she was sucking a… Er I mean eating a chocolate ice cream cone.
Also eyebrows, unfortunately
She looks related to Divine Brown. I wouldn’t trust the opinion of any salesperson who looked like that, let alone part with $5000 after they kept saying we only have one ‘sort of what you wanted but not ‘dress. I’d be outta there so fast!
For $5k she could have done so much better in a non bridal store, especially back when this was filmed. She looked lovely, but they kind of strong armed her into this dress.
"transpire" into a wedding dress? What? Not the word she needed there. (I know, I know... I'm being nitpicky, but it just jumped out at me. 😋)
There are tons of gowns in the shop that could have been made in black. I don't understand why they didn't show her more. And why not go to a shop that specializes in alternative gowns?
Says who? The designer of the dresses or you? lol
But, dahling, a shop that specializes in alternative dresses ISN'T Kleinfeld's! This chick wants a unique black dress, AND the bragging rights of having found it at Kleinfeld's.
The assistant's makeup is killing me.
Seriously......no one is a (wow)🥴🥴🥴...I think pure black dress is looks amazing on her..
Beautiful dress!
You should just show her what you have in black so she can see what y’all have in black so that if she sees the cost she may very well pick one of the more expensive options!!!
Add a black jeweled sash, accessories.
everyone that wants something "different" because they are unique and special seem very full of themselves
OR seems like it's their wedding day and they want to feel special and loved nothing wrong with that
Everyone IS unique and special, and I think everyone wants to feel special especially on their wedding day.
Nothing wrong with asking for what you want! Good lord, what beige world this would be otherwise.
I" want to be unique. I'm my own person. I want a non-traditional dress." I just want to participate in an extremely traditional ritual (wedding) in an extremely traditional intitution (patriarchy).
I love non traditional colors other than plain white!!!!! The red and black is so loubitan❤❤
The red dress in black would look amazing
A black dress…ooh I can hear the Karen’s screaming already. 😢 that first dress looked like something a friend designed for her fashion class. 😅 when you dream of one thing and everyone thinks your loony.
Fun wedding! Love the kilt!
Fabric dye is always an option
What’s with that store consultant’s makeup 😳…
Turn on CC.
Go to India - return flight cost $1500
Stay - $500
Total cost of making the dress - $500-600
Savings - $2500
You’re taking a huge risk with a custom dress though. You can’t try it on or see it already made. You have to pay a non/refundable deposit down on the dress before it even gets made and if you don’t like it then too bad, you lose your deposit and you get no dress!
Ahw she was so nice n easygoing despite them ripping her off badly n not even giving her what she wanted. She def caved in due to pressure. This specific red tone clashes with her skintone a lot. All the dresses they showed her were extremely basic designs, no unique details at all. Not sure how they could straight up low to all of us n describe those dresses as “different”…
Couldn't they just customize one of the under 2500 white gowns to black?
Christ, do you mean to tell me that the evening gown section there has not one black dress under 5,000 Dollar??? That' insane.
Love that red dress, she looks a m a z i n g!
She looks great in ted
Of course the dress exists just not in a bridal salon.
I plan on wearing a black dress and let me tell you.....sometimes prom dresses are actually really nice.
I think all the dresses are boring, my wedding is in a few weeks and my dress isn’t from a store like this 🖤
She looks pretty.
Imagine paying 5k and still not getting what you wanted to get
The dress exist but you can’t afford it!
Great content, thanks for sharing. My relationship of 5 years ended a month ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, Really love her so much, i can’t stop thinking about her. I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life but to no avail, I’m frustrated because i literally can't envision my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.
Your feelings are understandable, It's always difficult to let go of someone you love, i was in a similar situation when my wife of 12 years left me, i couldn't just let her go. I did all I could to get her back, I had to seek the help of a spiritual adviser who helped me bring her back.
Wow, how did you get a spiritual adviser, and how do i reach him/her?
Her name is MONICA ERLENE MORA, and she is a great spiritual adviser as well as a caster and healer.
Thank you for this valuable information, I just looked her up online. impressive.
Is this comment the new "crypto" crap?
Almost word.for word except it was talking about who helped them exchanging money.
All scams.
Red gorgeous..looks like Mardi grass with mask.
Those dresses are way too expensive. She could go get a ball gown in that budget
So she overpaid for a dress she didn’t even want. Sheesh..
It's all about how good the sales people are! 😂
Bit of s shock to see the wedding venue thought it was enchanted forest look and the guests didn't seem to go with the masked ball theme. Bit confusing
Red is the main color in our culture so Asian brides may have chosen the red dress right off.
For a Pnina dress, that dress is actually decent as most of her other dresses are tacky and ugly.
