  • The All-New Toyota Vios is not the Vios you know - it is built on a completely new platform and will handle much better than its predecessor. It has also shed 110 kg of weight, so will be more agile.
    For prices, wait for the launch tomorrow, but it is estimated to be between RM90k and RM96k. ( Update : there are 2 variants, the 1.5E is RM89,600 while the 1.5G is RM95,500. Both prices are otr without insurance).
    Watch the entire video and see what makes the new Vios tick.

      @@nicholaswong4493 surely honda city is more spacious on the headroom, split rear seat and a few more. But on entry level, honda sensing is not available (if im not mistaken) instead the vios entry level have partial toyota safety sense. So you gain some, you lose some. It all depends on the user. I drove a vios before and rarely use the split rear seats for furniture and stuffs, but kind of disappointed that there are no arm rest for reat passenger and the lack of spare tyre on the new vios.

    Very informative review, YS.
    As for the Vios, I am a bit disappointed that Toyota hasn't picked up their game on quality of trim and finish. While the external paint work looks acceptable, the paint work in the engine bay could do with a another coat. I have owned many Toyotas over the years and they all carry the same theme-well fitted and very durable (and reliable) but the standard of upholstery/interior trim is always behind the market leaders of similar class such as Mazda and marques like Suzuki and Nissan.
    As for the multi tone front interior, my previous RAV (made in Japan) has at least 5 tones of grey-the arm rest, dashboard, centre console, door trim, door handles all are different. 😂
    It is not a critique but an observation that unless Toyota lift their standard, very soon the Chinese will overtake them (if they have not already done so). The Koreans have definitely overtaken them.

    • @emilylimsl9884
      @emilylimsl9884 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      But overall, Toyota Vios looks better than Honda City. Toyota Vios got blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, camera parking system, full digital meter, interior looks more premium including aircond and design looks more sleeker and nicer as Honda City lacks. Even Toyota also more durable and got spare parts than Honda

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thank you for your co.ments. The issue of painting the internals is not new, and some makes do it while others don't.
      In the manufacturing process there are many choices to make. These include the design, the specs, the features, etc. Another aspect is the cost: you cannot have everything, or else you price yourself out of the market.
      I am sure it was a conscious decision, and they already had to make the painful decision to remove the split seats and the spare tyre, so to cut down the paint for the internal parts would have been the least painful of all.
      The B segment is highly price - sensitive.
      Anyway, there is no perfect car, just which car is perfect for you at this time and place. A couple of years down the road, those looking at the Vios now may be looking elsewhere because their own conditions and taste would have changed to.
      Life goes on.

    • @neutralgrounds07
      @neutralgrounds07 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you... If we are talking price, The alza which is virtually similar ( same engine, same steering wheel except for the 360 camera switch, same dnga body) is 20k cheaper and can offer 360 camera, spare tyre and is more spacious... I am quite disappointed as I was looking to upgrade my 1st gen Vios with this model as I also have an Alza so the learning curve to understand this vios system is shorter as this vios and alza are virtually same but the specs is underwhelming and the absence of 360 camera spare tyre and rear seat headroom and hefty price tag for the g spec is the dealbreaker for me

      @@YSKhongDriving The Yaris in the other countries are hatchbacks and are totally different cars. I was wondering if the Vios here do not meet the stringent criteria in those countries. I was concerned about the reduction of the weight of the car just to make it move faster. I hope that the crash safety remains the same or improved. I am an owner of 2021 Vios and I think that the car is already very light.

If I compare my 2009 dugong vios to my 2019 city, the city built quality is terrible, 1st year of use ( less than 5k km ), the city already had a rear axle replacement ( knocking sound ), in the 2nd year ( 9K km ), it has a steering rack replacement ( whoot, whoot sound ) while the dugong vios ( mileage =187K KM ) till today has none of these nonsence, only just minor wear/tear parts replacement.

    Not comfortable at all with this vios that doesn't have a spare tyre. Remember the tyre repair kit doesn't always fix a punctured tyre as certain punctures are not fixable ( like tyre sidewall sliced/ruptured due to squeezed on road curbs ) and if that happen you be stranded on a road. At least it should have a skinny spare tyre.

      I think you can squeeze in a space saver under the rear boot compartment. Many cars do not have a spare wheel nowadays.
