I have been fortunate enough to have been involved in Japanese culture since the early 80s.
Goro Matsui is a wonderful Japanese poet that has written many many pieces over the last few decades. I was actually surprised that Dimash chose this lyric from Goro. And it made me wonder how he came to know this song since their cultures are fairly far apart.
Goro was the lyricist who wrote his debut lyrics for the album Hot Wind by the popular Japanese duo Chage and Aska. After that he collaborated with such groups as Anzen Chitai, Kyosuke Himuro, Hound Dog and others.
The poet gained the greatest popularity after he began to cooperate with Japanese rock bands. Goro Matsui is the author of more than 2,000 lyrics, one of which is the lyric to the legendary song “Ikanaide” by Koji Tamaki.
I know this may sound cheesy, but I truly think that Dimash sometimes picks music not just for his fans' preferences, but of people that he is honoring, that have gone before him for greatness, in hopes to inspire others to be great.

Ken you know there are great gifted singers in the world with natural gifted ability plus hard work but only one with the hard work has been anointed that is Dimash male or female the greatest voice out in our world and I don't think there will be another one like Dimash.

Dimash has trained in many different genre of music. He didnt accept a place in Kazakhstan's Opera House BECAUSE he wanted to be free to mix and match and experiment. He certainly produces dynamic offerings.

This song is just so beautiful. One thing struck me is that he actually floats notes to just breath, I am no expert but O have tried that failing miserably I think it's not very easy even for seasoned vocalist.

Hi Ken. Hope you're enjoying your time in Mexico. Question: Did (or does) Dimash have a vocal coach(s)? I can't imagine such an incredible voice being purely genetic. Then again, we know that our Lord is capable of anything.
Of course Dimash had music teachers. Her grandmother took her to music school at the age of 5. He has been studying and practicing music for over 20 years, and he still practices 3 hours each day, as he himself has told in interviews. But he has also told that everything that he has achieved has been thanks to the Almighty God.

Dimash was once asked the genre he likes, his response was that he prefers to sing in the crossover style of blending classical, folk ànd traditional music. So he's better known to the Dears as a crossover artist than an opera singer. His repertoire shows this preference as well. Dimash does a wonderful rendition of this very sad song. I don’t know if you know the story behind this song. It is about a Japanese actress who lived in Manchuria, which was a Japanese territory before and during WWII. She had kept her Japanese identity a secret and passed herself as Chinese, and she was very popular and well-loved. When WWII ended, her identity as a Japanese became apparent, and her Chinese fans turned against her. She was deported to Japan and never set foot back China ever again. The person who wrote the music is Japanese singer/songwriter Tamaki Koji. He was big in the 90s with his group Anzen Chitai, and is recognized as one of Japan’s top vocalists. Of course, he is not trained in opera like Dimash, but he can certainly belt out a song when he wants to. Please listen to Tamaki’s live version of this song from a 2019 live performance. Although I am not vocally gifted (unfortunately!) I love your vocal analysis.
I love virtually all of Dimash's work, but lean a bit more towards his more subtle and intimate songs. I hope one day you'll be tempted to do my beloved Qairan Elim (online concert 2021) and privately listen additionally to how Dimash interpreted it on his last concert in Prague. (It's a fancam, but of good quality) I fell off the couch from the impression. :)

Ken reacted to "Your Love" shortly after the performance was released on youtube. A lot of reactions to "Your Love" got copyright blocked, so that's probably what happened.
