I liked your interpretation of the song but can I say one thing. I have heard from a couple of Kazakh speakers that Dimash has a very different way of expression him self in speaking. He has a very symbolic language and he is very philosophical in expression his thoughts. They say he speaks very thoughtful and is not haste in his words. Just a thought of why he wants to express himself like in this lyrics. Love and peace.

I've noticed that in his interviews. He always pauses and thinks about how to say something just right and he often uses quotes or sayings from his culture or from books etc.

I couldn't agree more. This is a loftier, more metaphysical way of expressing his message, on purpose. It's very effective in my opinion, and I prefer it.❤️

Plus, many songs have lyrics that read more like poetry than actual dialogue. I see a lot of that here in the lyrics.

Hello friend! Thank you for your sincere reaction! Dimash loves poetry and the messages in his songs are often shared through poetry. I'm sure that it was created in his Kazakh language and translated to English. Have you noticed that Dimash is the main solder right from the very beginning of the war scene, when he was shot in the arm, many people miss that? When I first watched this MV, it broke me, I became very emotional, it was heart wrenching, to say the least!😢
Dimash has worked very hard for 3 years composing the music for this song, and around 20 days to make this MV. It turned out to be his most valuable MV, in the ideological sense, ever made, a real Masterpiece! I believe that Dimash deserves THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE for his selfless hard work and tireless efforts, not only for this MV, but for trying to bring the world together in love, peace and harmony, through his music, MVs and many charities he dedicates his time to. He is a Legend and will go down in History.
The mini movie is full of symbolisms, it's the story of 3 youths, and the necklace which was made by the young Dimash and shared with his friends symbolizing lifelong friendship and unity. The Piper grew up and started a war, using the symbol of the necklace as the crest on his army uniform.
This is my breakdown of the story, as I see it:
    1) Dimash, who was drowning at the beginning and at the end.
    2) The Piper, the one who saved Dimash, and who became the leader, and who was killed by Dimash at the end.
    3) The young girl, who died in childbirth, became Dimash’s future wife, had two children together; a daughter who was killed by the Piper's army; and the birth of a son at the end, who inherited the necklace from her mother…, they were all torn by the war.
Dimash said these words in that low grown voice (in his Kazakh language) when he found his daughter dead. "People are the caravan... Life is the way" .
I feel that the dictator chose to target Dimash's home location out of resentment, because Dimash ended up with the girl and the happy life. That is how I saw it.
For the symbolic aspects, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), through throat singing, which is called the REQUIEM (mass for the souls of the dead), from different religions. The Pilgrim, Shepard or Wise Man at the end of the video was Dimash’s newborn son, born in his image and grows up to guide the Representatives of different religions and race from different Nations to the light, for a new beginning living together in peace, tolerance, love and harmony.
    I’m choosing life!!🙏🙏
See you in your next reaction. Love from Canada 💖

@@portiaShao I believe she did because they did not hand the baby to her. She lay still, eyes closed and not reaching for the baby.
Another thing everyone misses is that the little girl was with her mother, when her mother held out the necklace before she went into labor. At the same time, Dimash soldier was holding his necklace and making up his mind to go find his family and get them out of there. Then there is a scene where the mother with daughter (who is holding the doll) escape just literally seconds before the soldiers start breaking down the doors. What obviously happens, then, is that in the chaos, the little girl dropped her doll, and was separated from her mother when her mother went into labor. One of those confusing times when everyone thought the little girl was "with someone else" while they helped her mother give birth. The little girl was scared, so went looking for her doll, and she found it as the soldier found her, back up in the upper hallway. She clutched the doll as the soldier reloaded the chamber of his rifle. Off camera, she was killed. Later, Dimash found her. In the story, she is his daughter, the woman giving birth is his wife, who already loved him since childhood. She put her hand in the hand of the boy Piper was trying to save from drowning, and it was her touch that made the difference in bringing him back to life. Piper loved the girl, too, but she had already chosen Dimash, who became her husband.
The newborn son was wearing the necklace he got when his mother died in childbirth. He grew up to look just like his father, who had been killed by Piper's soldiers. But he grew up with the beliefs of his parents: Choose life, live peacefully under one sky. He was leading the people to the light, not to war and conflict.

There may still be questions about why so many people believe that Dimash is the best? I don't know, maybe only a robot will be emotionless after watching and listening to this video. Thank you, Ken, for taking the time for such in-depth comments on this monumental work of art. I was agreeably surprised to find out you had this background in film and history. OK, yes, I'm a Dimash Dear, but no, it doesn't means I will find everything Dimash absolutely perfect. Let me start at the end. That statement is not crafted by Dimash, it is in fact a quote from a document called "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together", signed in 2019 in Abu Dhabi by Pope Francis (of the Catholic Church) and Sheikh Ahmed alTayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar (Cairo). I believe what it is stating is that dialogue and understanding etc will cure those ills.
Back to the beginning. That medallion is actually a gnomon, which is the main part of a sundial, and some other commenters said, part of a mariner's compass. Whichever, the idea is that using the hole in that object, one can use the sun in the day, and the North Star at night to find either the time or one's location (depending on which object) and therefore by extension, one's direction in life. The dictator uses that as a symbol, but in so doing, erases the hole. This symbolically shows he has lost his direction in life, while possibly thinking he does have a direction or goal.
About "Imagine". Yes, it most probably refers to the John Lennon song. But when it says, "we have passed the moment of Imagine", it simply means (in my humble opinion) gone is the time we can just sit and imagine a perfect world at peace where all humans are brothers and sisters. We need to, as you pointed out later, stand up and "make a turn to right". Meaning not right as opposite to left, but right as opposite to wrong. Indeed, in a statement he made later explaining his message, he termed it a "call to action", so no, you are not getting him in trouble. That is exactly what he means. We, today, are on the brink of imminent disaster (on the edge of fiery grave) where we are probably the cause of our own extermination, whether through WWIII (thus the reference to WWII) or through environmental cataclysm. We need to act now.
Trailing: I find no issue with the choice of word here. Yes, Lillia the author of the lyrics, is not a native English speaker. However, as a poetess, this rhyming word is perfect in the sense that we are not just "following", meaning we know what we are doing. No, many people in this world are "trailing", blindling hanging onto the coattails of others, without trying to see where they are going or why.
Interestingly, you barely commented on the music composition or vocal performance, LOL! Me too, it took many viewings before I moved past the message and marveled at the music.

If anyone knows what role the Catholic Church and other faiths are responsible for the state of this world, I am not pleased with what I read here. It's nothing as it seems. Yes I know. Many people don't know about it. I would hope it would be different. Dimash is certainly full of good intentions, but has no time to deal with historical contexts. I have to accept it. God has nothing to do with churches.

These are my views on this amazing masterpiece The Story of One Sky - I have watched this many times and still find things out that i never thought of amazing video and i have said it before if anyone could bring peace i strongly believe Dimash could make it possible. This needs to be shared worldwide to show people there is another way. War is never the answer because the only ones to suffer are the innocent. Rewatched the song of Dimash today one line stood out to me One of the most profound lines in The Story of One Sky is the line "Learn to share the love, Not shares" Not shares meaning stop making money out of war rich people have many shares in companies that profit from weapon manufacturing making them richer while the innocent suffer sadly this is why war exists. MONEY, GREED and POWER.
The part in the video with the little girl and the people in the hallway were Dimash's family who had been wiped out the little girl whose body he picked up was his daughter, the baby that was born was his son who grew up to be Dimash grown up at the end!!! The Dimash at the end can also be seen as Dimash in the afterlife leading others to the light in peace. This video needs to be shown worldwide. Something else i noticed is in his dying breath he sang (We're Choosing Life) as he finally passed away now that is powerful

Oh & BTW, the Stranger concert is supposed to be televised this Saturday, 12-31-22 on KZ TV at 6PM KZ time which I believe is much earlier in the day & shouldn't interfere with anyone's New Year Eve plans!
💥35K people from 68 countries💥came together in love, in solidarity, in peace in an Almaty, KZ stadium on 9-23-22 for the 4 hour concert (31 songs, I'm told) given by the young Kazakh musician whose divine voice touches souls & changes hearts. Here's where your voice analysis would be greatly appreciated for sure & satisfy your subscribers who are more interested in DQ's vocals over the video contents. Nonetheless, the message is inescapable. Below please read the brief speech that DQ gave to the audience before singing his newest composition, "The Story of One Sky." Sending this to you & yours, Ken Dear, with Much Love & In Solidarity while Praying for Peace.
"Many thanks dear friends, before I perform the next song, let me say a few words. Thank you very much.
We, the people sitting in this stadium, each of us is different, not totally alike one another, but we are all God's children, each of us with different talents.
And, as I mentioned just now, right now is a bad time. In fact, I am not satisfied with the present situation.
I have not seen how such situations evolved in the past, therefore I don't know what will happen next.
But many people are suffering today because of a few individuals, it's really true.
We, we the adults, consider ourselves to be "smarter" than the small children and innocents, but while we do our best to teach and educate our children,
we forget that we also have some things to learn from those children.
They are pure-hearted, kind, friendly, untainted and without egos and their love for people are pure. Young children have such qualities.
I started writing this song I'm about to perform, three years ago.
Generally speaking, my main purpose in writing this work is to call for peace in the world.
It's a small composition that has burst out from deep within my heart.
To tell you truth, many thanks to god and with your wishes I traveled to many parts of the world and met many different people during my tours.
One thing I understood is that if you look at ordinary people, there is no such thing as a bad nationality, there is no bad nationality!
I don't need to tell you what you already know about the reason for mentioning the topic of nationality here...
Let there be peace in the world, Let there be peace. Let there be no war.
Let no people, let no nationality, let no country suffer!
Because after all, ordinary individuals, ordinary people are not at fault.
The truth of the matter is, no ordinary person is guilty of starting a war!
That's why the next song I'll be performing in your honor is about our common fate under one sky, it's called "The Story of One Sky".
      Hope you like it."

Thank you for reacting to Dimash. I would like to respond to a couple of questions you had. Dimash is a champion for peace. He has expressed this many times during his concerts, in his interviews. So he is not promoting the picking up of arms to fight. When his character in the MV fought back it was showing the cycle of violence that is the scourge of the Earth. Even in the lyrics he says to stop following the pipers. His meaning is, if no one is willing to follow and bear arms, there can be no war. You are correct that the decision not to follow comes from within and that is Dimash's message. Thank you for covering his music.

I absolutely love your unexpected statement at the end. Change begins from within and works outward. Government policies, no matter how well intended, will not solve our problems. Throwing money will not solve them- although it can help. Peace, love, and “rest” begin within the heart of each man, woman, and child as they experience God’s love for themselves. That spreads into the family, community and so forth. “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.” Thanks Ken! You are one of the greats.

Thank u for a great analysis, Ken. I think u have missed one important thing about the video story line. The woman giving birth was the girl from the beach at the beginning. She became Dimash's wife and the little girl, who got killed was their first born child. When he found her dead, he thought his pregnant wife got killed too. But she got saved and gave birth to their son. She died, while giving birth to him (that's why he got necklace).... And at the end, Dimash leading the people to the light was actually that little baby, who grew up to be a peace leader.... The thing bout this video is horrifying - at the beginning u see people, who do not know each other, killing each other for no particular reason and it ended up, a friend standing against a friend, killing... What human tragedy!!!!! This video deserves a lot of attention!!! 🥺🥺🥺

Thank you very much! Super! The statement at the end, as I understand it, was made so that the film would not be interpreted narrowly and biased in the current events. Another moment is the son of Dimash, who at the end of the video, continued striving for peace, but in a different way, namely the path to God. Yes, and the girl, this is his murdered daughter, and the woman, his wife (that girl on the beach) gives birth to this son, who at the end of the video goes to the light

Thank you that you put so much effort into this detailed analysis. I really appreciate that you focused on the story and the message of the song and not the vocals. The vocals were just a tool to convey the message which was the most important thing for Dimash.
Many things have been said and written, thus I only want to quote partially what was written on DimashNews about this song:
„…. The main character also speaks of unity, of peace, but through the lens of kindness and love.
While fighting, he is confused, he is in shock, but he has to save his family - his pregnant wife (the very girl from his childhood) and his daughter. Once home, he is horrified by the picture of the dead and realizes that his family is also dead. After surviving this drama, he moves on to the antagonist to seek revenge.
However, the Protagonist’s wife survives with the help of people who know that she is the one who must give birth to a special boy who can save the world. These are people of different nationalities and faiths who have united for peace.
A parallel line of pilgrims are people of different religions, walking the hard path to some place of power where they could unite and discover the Heavenly Eye that would illuminate the world. By uniting, they create a common energy in which the protagonist’s son is born, as Hope and Faith for the Better. Their journey is a symbol of faith in general, because it always goes through trials. When we go to the truth, we go through certain lessons and our way to God is difficult, but only possible if we come together.
This clip is not about war, it’s about peace. War here is a means of expressing the contrast of what happens when we lose love for one another. It is about the call to unite, to stop dividing each other along national, social, religious lines in order to preserve life, love, friendship, and the land for our children.“

Dear Ken, actually I am a Dear, have been to all his concerts this year, Düsseldorf, Prague AND wonderful Almaty :) I have always appreciated your professional, interesting and honest inputs and I particularly thank you for such a long video, which may help some people to better understand. I respect others' opinions, of course, but let's give Ms. Vinogradova a bit of poets' liberty :) and, secondly, I would like to add some info regarding the words written at the end. I did some research, it stems from the "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together", signed jointly on 4 Feb. 2019 by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash has performed his song for the first time on 14 Sept. 2022, at The VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religion, held on 14. Sept. 2022 in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, in the presence of, amongst others, Pope Francis. Maybe this sheds some light on the text. I look forward to your future analyses, much love from an amateur singer from Vienna, Austria! btw, my jaw dropped at the concert when he performed The Story of One Sky (9:30 min) and I couldn't close it anymore through the entire concert, which was four (!) hours :)

Those there at the taping said he cried and that he sais how much he'd suffered over those 3 years writing this and the story. Dimash IS an empath. He feels the pain around the world and in this song, because it is all his art, he transmits that pain to us. Can we not see what we've all become and have allowed? We are going through an extinction that no one even talks about thanks to climate change and these wars are not only futile, they are evil. Dimash only wrote the music, then the Russian poet showed the Producer & Director of the film collaboration and Dimash put the words to his music.
He enjoyed working on the set to get further experience with acting skills. The Director has worked with DQ several times on his music videos. In India this week he even said " I would like to do more like One Sky & other movies. I have had many offers. I am more interested in my music at present. Perhaps in later years he may try".
He us still learning "the ropes" of the whole music world in business. After having to fly to Arabia for the rearrangement of cancelled concerts in Russia. He needs to work hard every day to keep in condition and to continue with his wonderful voice.

The story was very complex with all the symbolism and had to be watched more than once to try to understand all of it. The music and cinematography are fabulous.....but most of all, I am blown away that Dimash ,who is trying to build his career, would risk making an anti war music video instead of a piece of fluff that would please his fans and critics. This complicated composition with a variety of music themes and tricks is a result of three years of compositional work of Dimash Qudaibergen.
Today, at the Kazakh artist’s fan meeting with his fans, the audience saw the MV to this work for the first time. The film is based on a story written by Dimash, with his own screenplay.
The director Alina Veripa told about the creation of the music video for the new song.
The clip is divided into several parts. The first one is about childhood. The main character, his 2 friends are connected by childhood stories and symbols of eternal friendship. One day the friend saves the Protagonist when he drowns. However, there is already competition in this children’s story, as the boys are in love with one girl, and she chooses one. The second experiences a kind of psychological breakdown and transfers the children’s problems into the adult world of totalitarianism and struggle.
By becoming president, the Antagonist carries the idea of a saving war:
“Only war will lead us to peace. Only the strongest can find love in their hearts. You must be strong enough to give the world freedom. A world where every city, every home is one. We will lead all who are ready to begin this new life. Anyone who resists has no place with us. I choose freedom. The world is open before me, and I want to give it to you. War for the people is the way to unity.”
I found the video and lyrics were very understandable to me. The message of peace and love was very clear. Not joining in to the madness and following a leader blindly has been shown recently by all those Russian men who left their country rather than fight a war against their neighbours. If we all said no to leaders doing wrong then these wars cannot happen. How many times can we all destroy ourselves. I see some criticism of Dimash saying he is naive or that because he is young he doesn’t have it all “right”. I admire him so much for trying to make the world a better place. I also agree Ken that it is all about individual hearts choosing love instead of greed or hate.

Thank you for the most in-depth interpretation of this epic work of art. I would like to add four things to your interpretation (and I don't blame you of not seeing them because it took me a dozen passes):
    • The older boy who saved Dimash's young character and became the dictator never wears the necklace, he only holds it in his hand. Does that symbolism mean that he never embraced brotherhood and friendship as values?
    • The little girl that is killed is Dimash's character's daughter. You can see her faintly huddled up against her mother hiding underneath her robe when she is first shown as an adult.
    • Every time Dimash sings the line "We are choosing life", someone gets killed: First the anonymous soldier, then the little girl, the daughter, and finally Dimash's character. I think that this is a deliberate choice, but I am not sure how to interpret this symbolism.
    • The pose of the dead body of the dictator viewed from above with the arms spread out, and one leg at an angle reminds me of the iconography of the crucified christ. Again, I have not found a meaningful explanation to that symbol.
My interpretation of the relationship between Dimash's character and the dictator is that: In the beginning of the war, Dimash's character is sided with the dictator due to the bond of the childhood. When he discovers that his daughter was killed in the war, he turns against his former friend who even saved his life in an act of tyrannicide, sacrificing himself. At the same time, his wife is giving birth to a son who becomes the leader to a peaceful world.
I guess that this comment is appropriately long to match the longest Ken Tamplin video. 😉

Thank you very much for your breakdown, it was enjoyable. I must respectfully disagree about the lyrics, as a native English speaker myself. I think he's being more poetic and metaphysical than you give credit for - on purpose. Such as the line " billions of cells, and souls and dreams" is incredibly haunting and deeply meaningful as is, in my opinion. ❤️ I don't think it's supposed to sound "how we would talk." It's poetry..

Totally agree! I am fascinated by those poetic lyrics. Indeed much more universal, deeper and also more descriptive than if the words were more straightforward/prosaic. I love poetry and read it a lot, so it feels quite easy to understand (graduated in Literature:). I guess song lyrics can very well be poetry, artistic. Even better if so.
Added: I also love that "billions of cells and souls and dreams" line so much. It underlines how every living being is a wonder in itself, how life is precious. The main message of the song...

Symbols: The piece that is hanging from the wire is a gnomon. It is a piece used in sundials and the sun passes through the circle producing a shadow that indicates the right path.
Note that the friend did not put the necklace on his neck and when bending the gnomon, right at the beginning, he stopped pointing the right way and was no longer useful. Throughout the entire MV he has the piece but never wears the necklace.
The gnomon is the key piece throughout the entire MV. It points the right way, the way of tolerance and peace that is used in the end in the character of hope that is the son of Dimash.
The military man who is the friend who saved Dimash's character in the beginning is the crazy Piper. Based on a medieval legend he presented a solution to the problems. A village was full of rats and out of nowhere Piper appeared with a miracle solution to solve the villagers' problems. By destroying the rats, he made all the children in the village disappear. This part is important because we must not believe the propaganda of these people who say they will solve problems but then do more harm than good.
The only way is union, tolerance for difference and believing that we can, together, follow the right path for all humanity.

    This was great! 👍
Your perspective coincides with the majority of views and Dimash fans as I've read many comments on many videos of "The Story of One Sky" from Dears, etc who are different faiths, cultures and countries.
I see a few things a little different than you did in this video being that I was born in Germany, my mama was Italian (born and raised in Trieste) who married daddy shortly after the end of WWII who was an American soldier (half Native- American-Delaware and half Welsh) so there are certain influences that showed me the intention of this very intense video.
    1) After the boy was resuscitated he is smiling because he saw the true vision of life.
    2) The taller boy was upset because the girl preferred the other boy over him. This made him resentful
    3) When the boy finds the "treasure' box he smiles and looks upward to the sky. Perhaps he received a message when he was being brought back to life after drowning(?)
    4) There are pieces of a compass that makes these necklaces symbols of directions.
    5) The little girl who was killed was his daughter and the mother was pregnant with his son which is why she had the same necklace.
    6) He finds his daughter's body and believes his entire family is lost.
    7) While his wife is sacrificing her life to give birth the father is mourning the death of his daughter
    (Love)
    8) With his heart and spirit broken he feels compelled to end the life of this person who is causing all this destruction and despair.
    9) He is willing to be killed for killing the enemy of Life.
    10) The salute by the followers of the evil leader also forms the same symbol as the one on their hats and podium. The symbol was intended to represent a path to light and life but was used in opposition to this by the advisarial forces. The devil changes good to evil.
    11) The water at the end was a symbol of life. Washing away sins, a part of birth, the Living waters.
    12) The very end where his, now grown, son is standing shows the same symbol with the direction pointing toward truth and light. He leads them to Higher Ground (Knowledge)
Dimash's culture is based on Shamanism. He knows about it and understands the significance of this.
As a believer in Jesus the Christ I know we are all beings of Love and Light. We will be as one when our hearts willingly accept the Truth of His Gospel.🕊
And if you have read this far, Thank you!!🤗🌻

On an unrelated note, it kind of reminded me of the Nightwish video for their song Noise, where they harshly criticize the darker parts of humanity.

@@retno.s.wibowo Indeed. I just said to another commenter that I suspect DQ has felt since childhood that his fate or rather God's Will for him (which is a very strong driving force in his life to his mind) is to contribute something substantial to humanity's betterment and yes, it doesn't matter how much it cost him financially or what it ends up costing him personally in other ways because it is his fate/God's will for his life.
I sometimes believe DQ is very much like the young children he strives to protect and admires for their unconditional love. He's a gift to us all from God, his family, and himself...I hope we can really appreciate this man for who he is, for the sacrifices he has made and will continue to make and that we will all try to protect, support, defend him where we can.

👏👏👏💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏Thanks Ken for your reaction to this masterpiece 🙏🙏🙏
I’m enclosing a knowledgeable and deep analysis from Heiderose Kober that you might enjoy:
« This is subtitled "Requiem” but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism. It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting.
Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I only touch on some of what struck me in the symbolism. The music is a dissertation all by itself. The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. (Thank you, Snarky Tart for that information). In the MV, the child who later becomes the military commander never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, the boy, gives his friend the pendant, the camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl. Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through rendering it useless as a compass. When we lose the original intent of a symbol by twisting it into something it is not or by just paying lip service, it no longer has any spiritual meaning. At best it becomes a useless prop, at worst it is used to mislead and manipulate people.
Contemporary music is also present: With the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way.
The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment, we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war.
The Piper's call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let's remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support the war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against?
The burning sign "Waldenberg" is a reference to the end of WWII when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht close to the end of the war in April 1945 in the part of Germany where I grew up. I have seen the aftermath of war as I was born a few years later when much of Germany was still in rubble. Waldenburg is only 28 miles from my hometown and was completely destroyed as you can see from the picture. Many of the dead in those bombed-out buildings were women and children. The good guys defeated evil but at what price? War is not the answer. We must find better ways to keep evil in check. iowaculture.gov/history/education/educator-resources/primary-source-sets/world-war-ii/american-troops-move-through
The last movement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and birth are both sacraments and are interwoven in the tapestry of life. Dimash's vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that buffets the pilgrims and hinder progress. The fog of war obscures the light. When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the "sacred womb" of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy, and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering. He breaks the wheel of endless war and suffering by choosing life. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as exemplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby.
The blowing of the shofar signals God's mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right: in the Zohar, the book of Jewish mysticism, it says: “When human beings repent of their sins, they blow the shofar on earth. Its sound ascends On High and awakens the heavenly shofar, and so mercy is aroused and judgment is removed.”
Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash's character in the form of his son becomes a spiritual guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage, race, and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect.
Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
This is what Dimash has done with this work; he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time.
We don’t have to wait. We can start right now. As the hymn tells us: "Let there peace in the world, and let it begin with me." Baraka Bashad. »

Cool analysis! I think the part you're missing in the story line is the relationship that the girl/woman had with the boys/men. Obviously, the 2 boys had a crush on the girl since childhood. But the girl rebuffed the older boy (the general), & that's why you saw that rift between them happening near the end of the beach scene. Years later, Dimash character married the girl, & they had a little girl (who btw died after being shot by the soldier), with another baby on the way. As part of the rebellion, Dimash was away from his family. But the general knew where the hideout location was & knew the woman & the child would be there. So he strategized & gave orders to storm the place & kill everyone. In the chaos of panic, the woman lost her daughter, & she alone was whisked to safety, leaving the child to her demise. Dimash then belatedly came back, & found his daughter already dead. He didn't know his wife was alive, & could only assume the worst. Driven by hatred & desire for revenge, he sought out the general. Now, we also see how the general looked kinda remorseful while clutching the pendant. No matter how coldhearted he had become, he still had some affections left for the woman, & possibly for Dimash as well. And then we saw him getting killed. Now, here is just another interpretation I made, the act of killing the general was never justified, & I believe it was actually portrayed as the wrong choice in the video. Had Dimash not sought out revenge, he might have lived & got to know his newborn son. But because he chose hatred & revenge, he also died at the end. He could only screamed out in futile, we're choosing life, with his dying breath, but never actually quite grasped the life he had fought so hard for. His son on the other hand grew up in an entirely different world, as he chose the path of harmony & understanding. He was seen leading the packs of the different religions toward the light, & possibly toward a better future. And in regards to the ending texts, I kinda agree w/ Dimash. I don't see the video purely in terms of emotions only. To me, it's just 1 scenario that happened. I have seen wars broke out over so many stupid reasons, greed, cultural/religion/ideology/socioeconomic/political differences, desire to subjugate, etc. And then the aggressor would use any kinds of reasons under the sky to justify their actions, some of which were listed in those texts. You don't have to look too far, just see what happened in Ukraine for example. My take is that if we promote the culture of understanding, each of us can combat these false pretexts/propaganda that are often used to promote war & hate, & become part of the solution instead. Again, that's just my own interpretation of the entire thing. I'm sure other people have different interpretations, & it'd be interesting to hear your opinions! 😀

How can you not admire and respect such a wholesome artist with a beautiful heart and soul? Dimash’s song, video, and message are so powerful and compelling: The Story of One Sky is a heartfelt plea for peace.
We could feel his pain, passion, and desperation in his heavy metal like scream because he truly cares.
Dimash has found his calling as an artist: presenting his Kazakh culture to the world, but also spreading compassion, love, respect, and unity through his voice and music.
Indeed, in this short film (it’s more than a simple MV at this point!), Dimash is showing us that war is NOT the path to peace. War does not unite people like the antagonist preaches; but leads to “senseless horror”, destruction, grief, and death. At the end, he shows us the alternative to war by leading people from different faiths and cultures to the true path of peace and unity.
One should strive for understanding among different peoples, cultures, and religions so that there’s mutual respect in spite of our differences, hence the necessity of an open dialogue to solve any conflicts. I grew up in a multicultural environment, my parents being from different countries, ethnicities, and faiths… So yes, it’s possible to save our future if each and every one of us raises our children to be kind and loving, open minded and respectful of others, regardless of their religious beliefs and backgrounds.
At last, I admire Dimash’s strong conviction and courage. I’m proud to be a Dear.
Thank you so much Ken for your genuine appreciation of Dimash’s talent and wholesome personality. Also, thank you for your insight and in-depth analysis of this compelling masterpiece that is The Story of One Sky!

    Google translation :
42:19 Ken, this little girl is his daughter. We could see this little girl with a woman who is in labor.
And this woman is that girl from Dimash's childhood, now she is his wife (because she has the same sign that Dimash gave the girl at the beginning of the film). 48:25 And the fact that Dimash comes to kill the culprit in the death of his daughter (his former friend, when he saved Dimash's life) does not contradict logic. It rather enhances the drama. This really symbolizes what is happening in the world in recent years and right now.
P.S. And the funny thing is: all non-English speakers understood the meaning of this film, but the English speakers have problems with this (of course I exaggerate, but not so much) 🙃

Dear Ken, i am glad that Dimashes courages work touched you, i can feel your passion...thank you for dedicating so much time to break down the message the way you see it.
I also felt pzuled by some of the word choices and sentence structures in the lyrics. My feeling is that Dimash communicated the Lyricist in he's own language or in russian language what the song was about, and she tried to use the same exact structure and poetic words to be true to Dimash'es message, however it dose not always translate sensical that way.
There was few details you missed, The older boy sees how terrified the girl is for young boy Dimash after drowning, its not just a look of a friend, worried for her friend ,she holds hes hand and cannot breath until Dimash does,so the older boy tries to tease the girl and see if she will choose him instead because he likes her too, but the girl looses interest and goes to see what Dimash does and after boy Dimash is gifting her the neclace i can see that he clearly looks at the girl with adoration with the eyes of a boy being head over heels, as much as a young boy can do that, innocently.
So the older boy becomes bitter and grows up thinking that he has to rule over people because he is not loveable.(thats purely my opinion)
And when the show the grown up girl she is WITH the little girl kneeling terrified with the pregnant stomach and holding the little girl tight thinking of Dimash by looking at the neclace he gave her when they fell in love as children. And Dimash thinks of them holding the neclace at the same time and he decides to go home to them to make sure they are safe. But the bad guy orders he soldiers to kill everyone in that area and they break into the building where Dimashes wife and little daughter hiding with lots of other people, the is a scene where they run out of a room the woman holding the little girls hand pulling her with her, but then in the next scene she drops her toy dog and she wants to pick it up and thats when the soldier cathes up to her and she runs into the room but he shoots her, she was Dimashes and her childhood loves daughter the mother had to run she is pregnant with Dimashes son and there is caos , so by the time Dimash arrives there is only hes daughters dead body. The wife ran away, and gave birth to Dimashes son, who became a peace leader.
Dimash kills the childhood friend who became the general bad guy, because he feels like he has to stop him, too many people follow him blindly and too many innocent dies, includeing hes daughter, and he dosent know if wife and unborn child lives or died. He knows that he will posdibly die, but he feels he has ti stop the general because he hipnotizes people with hes powerful charisma (like Hitler did)
Killing back is never the answer, and Dimash knows that the real Dimash, however he wanted to show in this video that if you are blinded by eye for an eye justice then you will go down as well.
However the end shows a future that real Dimash envisions i believe, people of all walks of religion and race united walking towards the l"ight" a more peaceful world.
The end printed message is i believe from Dimash. He is a very wise young man and he knows that it will take a long time and baby steps to find ourselfs in unification.
He is diplomatic for a reason.
Being too emotional is leading to drama and caos and eye for an eye mindset, therefore zero movement forward into peaceful unification. And on the other hand if we want to be realistic we must see that the whole humanity will not be able to turn into people that Jesus tolds us we can be ( treat others as you want to be treated) overnight, nomatter how nice that message is it takes babysteps to get there. The kind of steps he mentions as suggestions: dialoge , acceptance, tolerance of differentiation in our cultures...etc.
I think Dimash knows that this Music video is a bit open ended an people will see whatever they can see through their lens and filters of life. Only he knows what he truly meant to convey, and im sure he will talk about it in an interview one day.
    Much love and blessingsKen.

The symbol from which Dimash made the necklace, is a detail of the solar compass, through the hole through which the sunbeam falls. It is called a gnomon (pointer). It symbolizes the right path, the chosen right movement of life. Note that the Piper on the chevron uniform , on the posters in the gnomon is missing a hole, the sunlight can not reach there

      @kathrinphan ปีที่แล้ว +10

I would like to add that at the moment when the "Piper boy" on the beach (reluctantly) accepts the gift from "little Dimash", he does not put the chain on himself. Instead, he bends the gnomon, which is already an indication that he is not ready/willed to follow his moral compass, even though he did a good deed by saving his friend's life. Even later, he does not carry the gnomon on his heart, as Dimash and his wife do. He only carries it with him. At the same time, he uses it for his own purposes by adopting its shape for the logo of his party/sect/organisation, but turning it around. He uses the symbol of good for evil deeds.
I must honestly say that Dimash's ability to play with symbols so skilfully completely knocks my socks off. I always knew he had an unusual amount of depth for his young age, but the fact that he is so deep really surprised me.

    Hi Dear Ken
    Hi from France.
Sorry for my poor english so i'll continue in french.

I left out one thing. The woman giving birth is his wife as she is the same person who clutches the necklace. She also dies giving birth as the necklace is wrapped around the baby’s belly and being held by someone other than the wife. Just my thoughts.

At first I also thought, Dimash is leading the people at the end of the video. Now that i think again, I do think that the grup of people behind him are symbols of beliefs and that all beliefs teaches us Love & Peace. And that Dimash carry that on his shoulders. His faith to the said Love & Peace is what pushed him to where he stand now where he desperately screams for world peace. Idk just ny two cents

I love Dimash for many reasons. I never heard of him until this year and I'm not sure why. When I saw "The Story Of One Sky" my heart felt heavy after especially with all the stuff that's going on in the world today. How does a guy this young see the things that for most takes a life time to see? It doesn't matter if he wrote this or not because I can see that from his performance here, he feels it. Regarding your comment at the end, I agree. The one thing I feel this world lacks is faith. If everyone believed the bigger picture that Christ preached, none of this evil would exist. Jesus is love and He doesn't want anyone to perish.

Wow I really appreciate this analysis. I'm a die hard Dimash Fan and have been for quite some time. I always thought he would have something very important to say. I am Legally blind and can't really see the video very well much less read the lyrics. So you really helped me understand it better. I do believe one of the main messages he was trying to convey Is mankind's propensity to repeat history, and how dangerously close we are to repeating some of our worst history at this moment in time. Thank you for the wonderful Interpretation.

BTW.. notice the General's salute reflects the symbol of the necklace. The war room scene depicts it clearly.

the film is based on a story written by Dimash with his own screenplay. (I worked on this piece for 3 years). Director Alina Veripya spoke about creating the music video for the new song: the clip is divided into several parts. The first is about childhood. The main character, two friends linked by childhood stories and symbols of eternal friendship. One day the friend saves the protagonist when he drowns. However, there is already competition in these children's story, where the boys love one girl and she chooses one. The second goes through a kind of psychological The disintegration and transformation of children's problems into an adult world of totalitarianism and struggle. When he becomes a commander, the opponent carries the idea of saving the war: the young boy who presents the tokens of friendship he made will marry the girl (Dimash). She will give birth. A baby girl (murdered) and a mother waiting for another baby. Friends were scattered, and the third friend became an enemy, friends are enemies, because of the war, It is shocking how the cry of true helplessness of a father embracing his murdered daughter is practically coupled with the cries of a woman in labor who brings a child into the traumatized world of soldier (Dimash). That he was searching for his family and that he had found the dead body of his daughter and I think believing that his pregnant wife had also died, and felt the death of life, he decides, as the only way out in that moment of uncontrollable pain is revenge. He killed the evil embodied in his opponent, and then was killed by soldiers' bullets. ,and when Dimash died, his son was born, and the mother died during childbirth. But the boy is saved by his society of different religions and races, he wears his mother's talisman. He will surely grow up and become a messenger of peace on earth, like a worthy son of his father.A symbol of a future without evil, without wars, a world moving towards peaceful coexistence. The light of hope and peace on earth,In a world without walls, without unfair constraints, without differences or contempt for different ethnic groups or nations because the supreme value above all is: love and peace We are all human beings, we share the same planet Earth, and we owe each other as "brothers" the respect for life. In the end, he joined with people of different races and religions from another era that touches the present and the future In a world without walls, without unfair constraints, without differences or contempt for different ethnic groups or nations because the supreme value above all is: love and peace We are all human beings, we share the same planet Earth, and we owe each other as "brothers" the respect for life. ,Piper represents the force Totalitarian, oppressor who is not alien to us and who understands that war is the way to make people free (real nonsense).Piper (is the name of a soldier's opponent, a soldier who only hates, annihilates and destroys. What a paradox for a friend who, in his childhood, saves soldier Dimash from drowning. But life is like this, full of changes, good and bad, Evil, war and contempt happen when we lose love for one another, and our way to God and making peace and love in the world is not difficult but possible if we work together for love and peace and stop wars, hate and contempt. It is about calling for cooperation, to save lives, love, friendship and the land of our children. “Art is a sacred message in life, and these are the true artists.. And the earth needs these reformers in their precious, true and immortal work for the sake of love and peace on earth..Thank God for his gifts

Hello, I appreciate the analysis of this masterpiece, although I have a small reservation: when you suggested different words for the song, although Dimash did not write the words, I have no doubt that he relied on the words that he thought expressed what he wanted!
Unfortunately, my mother tongue is not English so I can't argue with you on that!
You also did not refer to Dimash's own singing this time and I assume that you wanted to focus more on the content of the video.
In any case, even after your detailed analysis, in my opinion there are so many hidden layers and points that are worth considering and who knows, maybe Dimash himself will publish in the future what he wanted to express in every moment and scene in the video and in every song!

YES! i really want to hear everything he intended from either his own mouth in a video or via written word. I have so many questions still...

I think the wording is beautiful. Poetry is not straight forward English nor should it be. The poetry in these lyrics paints both picture and emotions. Adding Dimash's vocals and the stunning music video, in all, this is a beautiful, emotive piece of art. I am from an English speaking background and do not expect poetry to be dumbed down into straight forward language to be understood. Poetry is meant to be a play on words and symbolism.

Thank you Ken, have been waiting impatient for your reaction.
I have a few comments for you 😉: The symbol is a solar watch, pin pointing north, sun shining trough the hole (notice "Piper's" pin gets bended = no direction AND on his army symbol the hole is closed = no light.
The book shown on "the walk towards life" is an unspecific religius book = every religion is okey
The girl killed is the Daughter of Dimash (you see her sitting close to mum = Dimash's wife .. she has the symbol from their childhood around her neck)
Dimash says ["Adam - kerwen, ömir - zhol"] which translates to "Man is the caravan and life is the path".
You ask if Dimash is calling to arms .. I think def. not, he shows that stopping "Piper" will require big sacrifices of us all (he gives his life)
I completly agree on your "discontent" of the text at the end. I think, like you "it's all about what we have inside, the world will mirror that". But to put it in context: it's written by the Pope an a great Imam as an end statement of the congress of world religius leaders in 2019 (btw Dimash performed the song live at their '22 congress in September)
