TBH, I used to hate on Bladers back in the day & in hindsight, I don't even know why. After all the hype died down the real ones kept doing their thing & it wasn't about money, fame, sponsors etc because there wasn't any of that to be had. All the corporate leeches abandoned ship but they kept doing their thing purely for the love. I can't hate on that. That scene isn't the circus that skateboarding has become. 2 decades later they're having a resurgence & they've earned it.
There were always some really dope skateboarders thou at the parks who were real ones. Always appreciated and showed respect whenever boarders weren’t hostile cause skateboarding is just as sick in my eyes and always had influence me in my style. At the end of it all we all just shreddin. Growing up in Southern California the hostility was real. I hope that the younger kids don’t gotta deal with the BS.

The music, the tricks, the equipment swaps, and the throw backs were amazing. Especially when they flash to scenes from Prayer of the Roller Boys, and Gleaming the Cube. This collab is really something amazing.
As a skateboarder, it always strikes a nerve when other skaters talk shit on bladers, scooters, bikers. At the end of the day they're all sports and all equally valid. They're all difficult in their own ways, and all require skill and determination. When skaters talk shit about bladers and bikers I always defend bladers by saying that they literally can't bail from tricks (because their wheels are attached to their feet) and bikers take way crazier slams and risks at much higher speeds than skaters. The biggest complaint about scooters I hear is that they are mostly little kids that snake at skateparks (which is valid) but they're there to have fun too.
Well said. I'd also like to add that everyone's lines (any action sport at a skatepark) have different lines that they'll take. Not everyone will go for a straight line. Some will go up and down a quarter pipe, skate across the park to grind up a rail or jumping off things that aren't suppose to be jumped off. We're all in this just to have fun and get better in our own expertise. And for the hybrids like me who both blade and board, it's actually taught me a lot and mashing both disciplines together.
If you think about all these activities share the same "holy shit I finally landed this trick" feeling. In essence they are all the same psychologically

I have been "snakeboarding/streetboarding" on vert for years with skateboarders, bladers, bmxers, and occasionnally cruising in the steets on a skateboard .. I loved the motivation there was amongst all of us. This was the real fun sports scene and i always hated the war between bladers and skater because it led to having less powers to build real big skateparks... To me wheels are just wheels and they should be united.
We had bladers in my group of friends in high school. We’d take the trolley dahn to the city every weekend and shred Pittsburgh. Those were the days man I sure miss it.
