For someone like me who was unfortunate to live in a place where games like these were unavailable and unaffordable, I never got my hands on these games and only watched the cartoon/anime series. We did not have the official Pokemon cards but had other forms of collectibles. I invested and collected a lot of them but lost all of them by accident. Pokemon still forms a really big part of my childhood, memories of which I cherish. I am so thankful for this video which gave me an idea of what the games looked liked and the entire timeline. Thank you
Now, so many Pokemon fans get into the franchise as kids. But so many of those who get into it as kids remain into it as teens and then adults. Based on this info, I think the are more Pokemon fans now who have aged out of the target demographic than those who are currently in it. And that number is only going to keep increasing. Given all this, there needs to be more Pokemon content aimed at fans who have aged out of its target demographic, both appropriate for teens and stuff aimed at mature audiences.

Pokemon cartoon or game is amazingly cool ever. I think it's really fascinating and it looks absolutely amazing graphics and great design and detail is incredibly awesome ever. Fun fact, "catch them all" is a phrase dub team came up with in their own specifically for anime adaption when it was brought over to north america. This catch them all thing had nothing to do with actual games. The game motto was always "getto da ze!" aka "gotcha!" meaning the joy of when the monster is finally caught and doesn't escape the pokeball anymore. The anime was so popular in the west that western players wrongfully engraved in their brains that games promoted catching them all. You couldn't even "catch them all" in previous games either since you had to trade/transfer over most of your monsters if you wanted your national dex filled in. And honestly catching ALL pokemon in one region makes zero sense since it kills all the vibe of adventure because why travel the world if you could catch all 800+ buggers in galar..
I’m sorry but this video was terrible. I was excited by the premise and queued it to show to my MIL, a new fan of the series, but the footage selection was the most lazy and /or inaccurate I’ve seen in a very long time. Frequent footage of non-advancing and not-related dialogue scenes, almost no footage of the battles or the Pokémon in question, the legendaries for many of the games are ignored, you used footage from other games (including fan games!) spliced with the correct footage, and you even included a random fan fusion(?) when talking about the Gen 5 mascots. Just terrible. Embarrassing.
Or in other words: "From an ambitious franchise that was a technical top game in the 90s to a repetitive cash grab brand in 2k21": I can't imagine anything more boring than playing another game with the same old formular. Pokemon 1. Gen was incredibly considering the possibilities developers had for gameboy games in the 90s. While the gaming industry did huge steps in the decades to come, gamefreak has gotten more and more stuck milking the Pokemon formular from generaton to generation without trying anything new (features like dynamix, z-attacks, x-evolutions etc. are only marketing features for just one new generation and quickly removed again afterwards). Also when it comes to spinoffs Pokemon games do way less than competitors because people will buy them anyways. When it comes to monster tamer story telling "Pokemon clones" like Nexomon: Extinction are they more exciting and fun to play through than any Pokemon main series title. Temtem seems to be a more competitive approach to the genre. Bugsnax shows how creative a Pokemon Snap game could be (the new one looks way to similar to the N64 game with boring railways etc.) and when it comes to the new announced Pokemon Legends Arceus... it's a step into the right direction mixing some open world game design with Pokemon, BUT... man, it looks so damn dull... kickstarter games like Kindred Fates (although working with low budget trailers and quite poor graphics) demonstrate fantastically how an open world ARPG with monster tamer elements could perform, a way more captivating approach to the gameplay as we can expect from Pokemon Legends Arceus. And we don't need to speak of how innovative a Pokemon MOBA in 2021 seems like, right? It's sad to say that (because Pokemon was the love of my childhood days) but Gamefreak and the Pokemon Company are not progressive enough to compete with their "clones" who usually are small indie studios... except for in sales figures, obviouesly
To be fair, Pokemon is a series that was made to allow people(mainly younger players) to ease into JRPGs. It's got a strategy that works, and is still competitive enough for those that want it

Red/Blue/Yellow were released internationally. In Japan it was Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green that got released. It never release outside of Japan.
