both as a kid and as an adult i've been watching the gen 1 episodes over and over, but i've never made it past around the 100th episode. after watching this video i now know what happened to a lot of my favorite pokémon childhood friends! thank you!
Elementary school times and middle school. Getting ready in the morning and watching the episode and having about 15mins to get to school. Man we didnt know how good we had it back then.

I don't know, I lost track). I also liked to think his newer outfits as the show progressed showed his slight age from 10-13? I don't know, his outfits just gave off an "older, more mature" vibe.
It's amazing how tone deaf the anime was to fan's wants. We have a main character who not only sucks at battling but also constantly gives away his collection of Pokemon... in a series whos two primary themes are BATTLING and COLLECTING. Watching this as a kid was equally exciting and endlessly frustrating.
I can't believe this series got broken up because the channel disbanded. This is so high quality and I couldn't wait for the next parts. Now we won't get it and there isn't even anything like it on youtube. So disappointing..
9:01 there's isn't only 8 gyms across the kanto region like in the games, meaning that you don't HAVE to collect the same badges ash did in the anime to enter the pokemon league. this is the reason why gary has 10 badges, with 3 of them being the boulder badge, cascade badge, and the rainbow badge

Random (and overly long) Question: Is there no such thing as a Claculator or Program or Witchraft-Tool; Science or Magic; that allows for QUICK and EASY research on-the-go about EV-Training? I mean, do i have to memorize Masses and Masses of Data about how Everything reacts to Everything?! There must be an easier way, yes? Just something that asks of me the work to memorize what Stat my Pokemon 'need' to grow in, and then i enter this simple Stuff into something. Like: "I have 3 Magikarps. I want them to become the Fastest Magikarp and have them break the Sound-Barrier. But i also have 3 Charmander. And I'm on Route-5. So what Pokemon should i defeat here and with who??" Get what i mean? Sorry for the long comment. ...I'm no speech-maker, after all...
I know staying consistent on TH-cam with outside stuff going on is hard. But the people are waiting on part 2! You should come back to see how well your channel will continue to do w vids like these
I started doing a “canon” play of FireRed by naming the player character Red and having Gary be named… Gary. Started watching the anime again from the beginning as well. Gonna go all the way from Gen 1 up to Gen 8. Wish me luck.
You kinda missed a huge thing in Pokémon 4Ever where Ash meets a younger time traveling Professor Oak which potentially explains why said professor had Pikachu for Ash in the first place.
"baby" and "parent" Lugia The anime was on another level. They could have made so many events for the games. Like, they could have remade gen 1(or 2) with the Crystal Onix being tucked away somewhere. They could have had a special release for a "baby lugia" which would have been lugia but smaller, weighs less, and a reduction in stats. And those are just from what I've seen so far from your video reminding me.
I always thought the 2nd movie happened prior to Charizard Chills because of the way it acted when Ash released it on the boat and his reaction to that and Misty not having Poliwag yet.

@TheUigamer it has been confirmed by Nintendo that the order of the badges you gain is depending on your home town. Plus the level cap is a game mechanic to prevent players from over leveling their pokemon. That's why Gamefreak also chose to let your pokemon receive less experience points the higher your pokemon's level is in comparison to the defeated one. But still, Ash didn't earn a majority of his badges and wa sonly gifted them

i used to be obsessed with pokemon when i was 7 in the early 2000s, but stopped right before ever seeing the 3rd movie. now i don't recognize any of the pokemon or new characters. this was an amaaazing summary to learn everything i missed!

Do you know that in the banned Safari Zone episode Ash caught 30 Tauros and send them to Professor Oak’s Laboratory 🥼 which they are still there today, and also James caught Victreebel as a Weepinbell sometime between So Near, Yet So Farfetch’d and The Breeding Center Secret. Prior to the latter episode, he left Weepinbell at a breeding center, unaware that it was actually a scheme by Butch and Cassidy. After searching, James located his Pokémon and discovered that it had evolved into a Victreebel.
Wow, really good recap. Thank you! I stopped watching back in the day in the early orange Islands episodes. But, I'm doing a playthrough of all the games and you can't really keep up with the full story without seeing any of the show. Like, for instance, I have no idea what's going on with the unknown in Crystal. I imagine that's much clearer if you had been watching the anime when the game came out. So yeah thanks for the video. I'm probably going to go in and watch some of the key episodes that you pointed out. Like the one where ash finally admits that he knows he's not the greatest master and Charizard finally starts respecting him.
So weird. I remember the first season like it was yesterday. I remember absolutely nothing about Orange Islands, but then I remember a lot of Advanced. I was quite young at the time but still...
Pokemon chronicles is what he should be starting on next. It covers misty, brock, and tracy. Their development. And they will catch back up with ash at a later time.
Do you know that Misty also has Starmie, at the end of Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon Ash finds the egg 🪺 that hatched 🐣 into Misty’s Togepi four episodes later and at the end of The Misty Mermaid, Misty leaves her Horsea and Starmie at the Cerulean Gym.
We lost Pokemon around Orange Island arc in Turkey... Supposedly, some idiot jumped off a window yelling "imma pikachuuu!" so parents went into a rage and Pokemon was cancelled. The games, TCG and the rest followed. Apparently, according to my friends who somehow managed to find the jumping kid on Facebook; the kid didn't say Pikachu, he yelled "Pidgeottooo!" but the news covered it as "Wtf is a pidgeotto? Eh, it's pokemon after all, might as well call it Pikachu." So yeah... We just managed to watch around 60 episodes and it was done for.
Sadly Orange Island adventures were never shown in Finland. The last episode of Kanto region was the one where Ash released Pidgeot and after that we got Johto league and nothing in between. Only way I got to know Orange Island episodes was the trading cards. That also left a big plot hole to the second Pokemon movie (The Movie 2000) which was shown in Finland. We just had no idea what happaned and how our heroes got there, where is Brock and who the hell was Tracey?!
Ash catches pokemon. Pokemon gets strong. Pokemon evolves into pretty good pokemon. Ash releases good pokemon. Ash wonders why it took him 20 years to win the pokemon league.

Do you know that in the banned Safari Zone episode Ash caught 30 Tauros and send them to Professor Oak’s Laboratory 🥼 which they are still there today, and also James caught Victreebel as a Weepinbell sometime between So Near, Yet So Farfetch’d and The Breeding Center Secret. Prior to the latter episode, he left Weepinbell at a breeding center, unaware that it was actually a scheme by Butch and Cassidy. After searching, James located his Pokémon and discovered that it had evolved into a Victreebel.
I enjoyed this recap . I realize I'll never let go of Pokemon no matter how old I get.
Wow, really good recap. Thank you! I stopped watching back in the day in the early orange Islands episodes. But, I'm doing a playthrough of all the games and you can't really keep up with the full story without seeing any of the show. Like, for instance, I have no idea what's going on with the unknown in Crystal. I imagine that's much clearer if you had been watching the anime when the game came out. So yeah thanks for the video. I'm probably going to go in and watch some of the key episodes that you pointed out. Like the one where ash finally admits that he knows he's not the greatest master and Charizard finally starts respecting him.

In the original series of the anime, Ash and his friends headed to Johto after the Orange Islands (when Tracey is with Ash and Misty).
When I was 10 i would wake up mon-fri every day at 5 am to watch the new episodes!
So weird. I remember the first season like it was yesterday. I remember absolutely nothing about Orange Islands, but then I remember a lot of Advanced. I was quite young at the time but still...
Pokemon chronicles is what he should be starting on next. It covers misty, brock, and tracy. Their development. And they will catch back up with ash at a later time.
Do you know that Misty also has Starmie, at the end of Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon Ash finds the egg 🪺 that hatched 🐣 into Misty’s Togepi four episodes later and at the end of The Misty Mermaid, Misty leaves her Horsea and Starmie at the Cerulean Gym.

We lost Pokemon around Orange Island arc in Turkey... Supposedly, some idiot jumped off a window yelling "imma pikachuuu!" so parents went into a rage and Pokemon was cancelled. The games, TCG and the rest followed.
Apparently, according to my friends who somehow managed to find the jumping kid on Facebook; the kid didn't say Pikachu, he yelled "Pidgeottooo!" but the news covered it as "Wtf is a pidgeotto? Eh, it's pokemon after all, might as well call it Pikachu."
So yeah... We just managed to watch around 60 episodes and it was done for.

Woke up this morning and popped Crystal Version in the old GameBoy SP. Man the memories.
Sadly Orange Island adventures were never shown in Finland. The last episode of Kanto region was the one where Ash released Pidgeot and after that we got Johto league and nothing in between. Only way I got to know Orange Island episodes was the trading cards. That also left a big plot hole to the second Pokemon movie (The Movie 2000) which was shown in Finland. We just had no idea what happaned and how our heroes got there, where is Brock and who the hell was Tracey?!
Ash catches pokemon. Pokemon gets strong. Pokemon evolves into pretty good pokemon. Ash releases good pokemon. Ash wonders why it took him 20 years to win the pokemon league.
